I bet it had a thumbhole stock and one of those shoulder things that go up... Dangerous stuff. In all seriousness though, im glad no-one was killed and hope the two that are in serious condition pull through.
You can buy Xacto knives in a set with multiple handles and dozens of interchangeable blades. No one needs that many blades at one time. When will the madness stop?
That's why over the past 5 years, knife crime has been rising astronomically here in the UK. In a knee-jerk reaction, the government has passed laws that state that carrying anything other than a non-locking blade under 3 inches in length, unless you have a "valid reason". This is entirely arbitrary and up to the court's discretion, so whenever I go hiking I'm fully aware that if a cop finds my CRKT, arrests me, and the judge who tries me happens to have a bad day and decides I don't need A BASIC FUCKING SAFETY FEATURE like a blade lock for a knife, then I could be thrown in jail for 5 years. It's also illegal for anyone under 18 to purchase a knife, even if it's a set of steak knives that mum asked them to pick up along with the shopping, or carry one, ever. Speaking of arbitrary, idiotic lists of banned weapons, here's the UK's list of banned blades which are illegal to sell, purchase or carry: Spoiler You'll note that while the big, scary Samurai Sword *cough*blackrifle*cough* is up there, there's no sign of, say, something like a Grosse Messer: Spoiler Take criminals' guns away, they start using knives. Take their knives away, which they've started doing (although obviously it's a hell of a lot more difficult) and now they've started using dogs. I'm anxiously awaiting the day when crutches will become illegal unless you're carrying a Crutch Licence on you, because you could totally beat someone to death with one.
That list is ridiculous. Was there a problem with these things before they passed laws against them, or did someone watch Kill Bill a few too many times? I noticed that the giant knife strap-on from the movie Seven isn't on that list. Some random celebrities should really raise awarenes about that.
Got to shoot an M240 and M249 today. As a mechanic that will probably be the most fun I get to have with guns while I'm in the military and it was way more enjoyable than these shitty old M16s they give us to shoot usually.
At least the snow was gone by the time I got to the range. SMLE proved decently accurate; but I ran out of ammo before I got to 200yds.
I gotta say, I fall in love my SMLE more and more every time I go to the range. I'm starting to think it may be tied with the game of rugby for the best thing ever to come out of England. I highly suggest that anyone who finds one pick it up. The guns, themselves, are cheap. It's the ammo that's spendy. I don't know if I mentioned it, but that ammo I picked up was 1956 vintage Iraqi .303 British. I took it to the range to test it before I bought it and 50/50 rounds went bang with no squibs or hangfires. 47 of the 50 shots hit the 8" target at 46 yards. Not bad for 60+ year old ammo coming out of a 70+ year old gun. Mercurial primers are the shit.
IF anyone is interested in Les Baer handguns, I found out through several forums that this guy named John, from prodeals / 1911 heaven ... also goes by Crazy John, has some of the best deals on them. And a lot of reviews vouch for his pricing and the handguns. Currently he has a deal for Les Baer custom carry's, with the 1.5 inch accuracy guarantee for $1,900.00 including shipping & tax roughly. The down part to that is the order has to be made in cash (deposit of $800.00) and you will not receive the handgun for 1.5 years. BUT He also has premier 2 with the 1.5 inch guarantee in stock and they were going for $1,800.00 I think. Anyways I thought you guys would like the plug, Les Baer 1911 seems to be great but they don't have the fit and finishes of the other semi-customs. Also I hear that Les can be cranky sometime with customer service issues. I have read some bad reviews, but also many positives. http://cj1911heaven.com/

Nice, why are you painting it? I think black guns have more ninja powers but that is just a personal preference.
Functionality. Black is the absolute worst color for a gun. It looks cool, but makes the weapon highly visible and easily recognizable. Painting a gun a flat earth tone will reduce visibility. Painting it multiple flat earth blends reduces visibility further. Under stress your brain tries to quickly process images and categorize them based on previous images and experiences. Your mental rolodex usually associates metallic colors or black things in people's hands as firearms. Unless you've been exposed to a bunch of painted guns, your frame of reference won't readily include a bumpy tan stick with lights as a threat until you can process the whole silhouette as "holy shit that's an M4." This translates into a second or half second advantage against a bad guy when you come through the door because his brain has to process the non-black thing in your hand as a gun.
No Ms. Feintstein has clearly has clearly explained that black rifles fired from the hip with a pistol grip thumb hole stock create higher velocities that would negate any quarter second of advantages in visual acuity from your enemy.
The gun control bill failed miserably and an assault weapons ban wasn't even a part of it, but don't let that stop CTD from shamelessly price gouging. Look what just showed up in my email a couple minutes ago: Spoiler Deleted
My dad and I want to pick up an M1 Garand for boar-hunting (they're a mite bigger than most of you guys's hogs, so .30-06 over .223 would be a good choice, plus modern black rifles make him sick because he's seriously old school. I even tried to persuade him to go for the Springfield M1A because to me it's one of the most beautiful guns ever made, but no dice, "too modern"). Rather than pick up an old Springfield Armory one, we're likely going to buy one of the ones that were licenced to Beretta over here for manufacture for the Danish Army, which should mean they've seen a hell of a lot less wear and tear than your average WW2 service rifle. Anyone have any experience owning or extensively shooting a Garand? Care to share?
