there's no way in hell any kid, never mind most adults, should ever be handed an uzi on full-auto, even in "controlled" environments. that's just fucked up. i've seen grown men shit their pants and almost lose control firing one. a 9 year old girl? hate to say it, but the instructor got what was coming to him, and i feel for that little girl as she's going to be fucked up for a very long time.
yeah i agree with you, it was more double entendre to point out the stupidity of the situation and that her parents made a very poor decision. she had no control over the gun, people in this state hate anything that has to do with gun control.
this happened to a child a few years ago in massachusetts i think. blew his own head off at a full auto shoot. maybe not let post-toddlers handle full auto uzis?
sons of guns' will has been arrested a second time for aggravated rape of a minor. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/20 ... ing-minor/
i did some ammo testing with my .22 benchrest rifle before i head down to nationals in st. louis this weekend, and got to test fire the kidd .22 project i've been working on for the first time too. i shot the suhl and then hastily sighted in and shot the kidd over my benchrest bags with my mueller 8.5-25x scope mounted to the rifle with burris signature rings. here's some five-shot groups at 25 yards with eley edge. not bad, all things considered. my goal was to ensure nothing was drastically wrong here before going forward with finishing the stock and i think we're good to go now. of course i'm really curious how this rig will do once the stock is bedded and is shot with a better setup now. bottom line it was nice to shoot what started as this a few months ago: Spoiler
i'm all for 2a rights and teaching your kids how to shoot properly, yada yada, but this is irresponsibility of the highest order. i'm not going to crucify the guy and be a douchebag, but this was an incredibly stupid decision. i'm a 230lb 6'0 man and i'm not sure if even i would jump at the chance to shoot that full auto uzi.
at 6', 185# i had no problem controlling an m-16 on full auto during ait. of course it would climb up and left, so anything after one or two rounds wasn't going to hit the target. but then, full auto wasn't about killing people, it was for getting them to duck and when they popped up again the guys on semi-auto could nail them. but, giving a 9 year old any full auto weapon is beyond stupid.
the thing about full auto is you're supposed to use 3 to 5 round bursts, starting at the bottom of the target. if you just hold it wide open you aren't gonna be very effective. i'm sure this instructor didn't have this conversation with her. even if he did, it's still a terrible idea.
Anybody know the comparable recoil would be of a SXS double firing a 1 1/8 oz. dove load? That shit hurts.
Give this a try. Was it one of your older American doubles? Those tend to have lots of drop in the buttstock, which can contribute to felt recoil too. Here's some pics from the ARA Nationals this past weekend. Spoiler Some nice rifles. I shot my best target of the match with this rifle, a brand new Stiller 2500X with a Shilen octagon-rifled barrel and March 40x scope. One hell of a rig. The Benchrest Club of St. Louis has a covered firing line with 60 benches for 50-yard shooting, so in other words it's massive. Seeing most of the benches filled up for three relays of shooting per target was quite a sight. 104 competitors shot a total of eight 25-bull ARA targets at 50 yards over two days and I ended up 64th, which I was satisfied with as this was only my third time target shooting outdoors this year. I shot half my targets with my own rifle and the other half with a handful of brand new custom rifles. It was a lot of fun.
I just stole this thing for $700 bucks, Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45, don't drink and drive kids, you will have to sell all your toys for legal fees. I had no knowledge whatsoever of this gun so I called my friend who was a detective for 20 years and he said it was his favorite gun ever and he carried one for quite a while and to buy it right now. Looks like a pretty sweet rig.
It's my Parker 12ga. 2 3/4" 2 3/4 dram per shell 1 1/8 oz. per shell 1200 fps. 7 lb. shotgun The calculator estimated 176 ft lbs of recoil or something ridiculous.
Yeah that's not right, here this one is optimized for shotguns: http://www.omahamarian.org/trap/shotshellenergy.html
