I like C&H, I also like The Far Side, but as far as I'm concerned the best comic strip ever is Footrot Flats. If anyone needs to see them I have the collected words here I can send. A good chance you won't get them unless you're from New Zealand but they are amazing.
My cousins all grew up in Chagrin and I can confirm that they play that shit close to the vest. Not quite as much as where JD Salinger's exact location was ( where my other cousins lived), but it's hush hush. I still choose Far Side.
Far Side, no question. I never like C/H. Mostly because my sense of humor runs very dry/sardonic and C/H was not that. I agree it was awesome, a classic, but just not my cup of tea.
You either got anus or the runs. Both are something I never needed to know. I love both C & H and The Far Side. But The Far Side is more my sense of humor. I've bought numerous calendars and cards over the years, so I'll have to go with that. Good stuff.
One more time, because I can't stop listening to it. Bye Bye beard. Let's rock the Trapper John for a bit.
I got my daughter a Jacob's Ladder for Christmas and it freaked her the hell out. She ran from the room yelling "Augh!!!! Magic!!!!"
I like how you hung the mirror. Duck tape is awesome. I had a friend in college that held her car together that way. Cool 'stache.
Jesus Titty Fuckin' Christ. I missed this the first time you posted it, but damn, those kids can play. The weak link, the singer, has a good voice, when she gets some age and control, she'll be just as fuckin' scary as the rest of them. I used to fuck around with this song many years ago, and that bass line and drum line are tricky as shit, the guitar line is probably the easiest part of the song. Musically? They nailed it. Vocally? A little work and she's there. That is an unbelievably polished approach to that song. I'm in awe. I had trouble with 'Louie, Louie' at that age.
To be fair, I don't expect any 12 year old (or almost any adults, for that matter) to live up to Maynard. That man's voice is butter.
My parents never made me do anything. Sports, pbbbblt. Scouts, pbbblt. They suggested boyscouts and I lost my shit that they were trying to dig into my after school time. The one thing I wish they did was force me into some kind of musical program. I would have hated it at the time, would have hated the piano or a woodwind, etc, but starting a kid on music so young sets them beyond their peers in cognitive function. That is empirical fact. I truly believe an uncooperative musical student could be swayed if the teacher taught them simple songs/melodies/riffs within the first two weeks. God forbid, find something they can like. If I found the guitar at 8, instead of 16, I'd probably not be sitting here in my underpants. My kid will be started around 5. Even if it never goes beyond rudimentary lessons. Drums, piano, guitar, whatever kind of glorious noise he wants to make. And if he defies me, well, I can tell him we can send him to live at the orphanage with the other kids that don't love their parents.
It's a great cover, but I wouldn't say the girl's voice will get better with practice it depends how her voice is as she ages. You could practice singing a billion times, but unless you are quite literally bestowed with an actual singing voice you'll never improve. That's the frustrating about music: any instrument you can get good at with practice. With singing you're gifted or you are inadequate. Go to a karaoke bar if you don't believe me and watch the losers who treat it like Star Search. You don't have to be a good singer to make it, though. Just ask Dexter Holland and Kesha.
That's just it. I've been around enough singers and auditioned plenty in my day, I think the girl has a solid voice. She just ranges a bit on pitch, but even professional ones do. She's obviously young, her voice will change, less than a guy, but change. I think with time, she has the basis to be a pretty solid singer.
Hey, so guys, all of you have had that experience where you go to sleep in bed and then wake up a few hours later on your couch, right? Right?
I don't feel like firing up wikipedia. What's the significance of Boxing Day and how is it celebrated?
It's not a celebration. It's a day off for many, but not retail. So it's our Black Friday: huge sales and no returns allowed, but less pandemonium and spitting.
