Spoiler The ending of this episode felt so real and believable to me. That's always how you find out terrible news...like someone punched you in the stomach. I think it was so effective because we were just as shocked as Marshall....you could tell something wasn't right when his dad didn't answer the phone and by the look on Lily's face. It was real.
Holy fuck. When did this show become well written enough to make me cry? I seriously welled up as soon as I saw the look on Lilly's face when she got out of the cab. Marshall saying, "I'm not ready for this" almost made them spill over. Got real dusty in my living room all of a sudden.
I did too. Unbeknown to my then fiance and I, our mothers had arranged that Jägerette would tell me that my grandmother had died. Jägerette had that same look on her face right before she could get the words out when she told me that my grandma had passed.
Word. My mom had the same one with my best friend. I knew what she was going to say so I started screaming at her to just tell me. I wonder where they'll go with the next episode.
According to the producers, Marshall's dad's death won't be a one-off, supposedly it'll stretch throughout the next several episodes.
For me it hit the second I saw the unanswered phone. I just had the mental "Oh shit" before it all came unglued.
So, my roommate just pointed out all the numbers counting down from 50-1 in the episode. Anyone else see them, they're kind of obvious.
That was insanely well done, my apartment got dusty several times during that episode. Looks like we won't have to wait long to see the results of Barney's call since.... Spoiler Barney's dad is being played by Trinity (John Lithgow)
I really have to give the producers props for Minnesota authenticity. During the scene where they were all standing around at the wake/visitation/whatever, the people in the background were drinking Grain Belt Premium, which is a Minnesota classic and perhaps the greatest beer in the world. http://www.grainbelt.com/ourbeers_info.php?id=10
What happened to the Captain and the bitch from House? I'm glad they went for a plot with some depth, but why did that one just kinda... disappear?
I'm really hoping CBS doesn't decide to fuck with their entire Monday night line-up just because of the 2.5 Men debacle. In better news: Spoiler It looks like John Lithgow is going to be playing Barney's father.
It's been so long since Zooey was in an episode that I almost forgot who she was. Watching a rerun, I realized that I share my birthday with Ted. I feel a lot less cool now.
Damn it, I really just want to here those 9 words, and I thought I would. Spoiler And that kids, is how I met your mother
Katy Perry's boobs. And those two finally got together, more Zoey for the season is okay with me, she's not a bad one to look at. And has anyone noticed Robin is getting hotter as the season goes on? She is aging very well, not that she's even old. And Jager, I was definitely hoping that we would hear that, but they're only halfway through the season.
I thought that entire episode was done exceptionally well. I love that Marshall was so crucial to the story without actually being there, and the whole "same story from different perspectives" with Barney and Robin talking about Honey was awesome. Just a great episode, good laughs ("I'd tell you to hump her brains out, but it looks like someone already did.") and an excellent arc. The last few episodes just remind me how great this show can be when they're on their game, and they're on their game right now.
But they can't just have him introduced to a random woman, and then say "And that kids is how I met your mother" and then end it. It just won't work. I have a feeling it will be a known character (that we may not have even met yet) with serious flaws, who suddenly changes, and that is the moment he met the woman who becomes their mother.
