Same name, similar avatar, it used to be blue mushrooms, now they are green, because I wanted something fresh. Glad to see familiar faces around here. The reason I've stayed around the RMMB was because people knew how to use English, and the moderating was good. I hope we can keep it up around here. I'm part of a car forum, and their "Lounge"(General Board) is full of idiots that we would fnd on the old advice board. (You know, the kind of posters that make you want to take a Louisville Slugger to the back of their dome.) I'm a fan of the rep system, for the sole fact that it is an easy way to send a quick message to someone about their post without delving into PM's. (Don't really care too much about the points though. Although it did make it easy to skip over shitty posters posts) Now that the boring shit is out of the way, where is this new member testicle thread? I'll post my balls all over the internet, and will gladly christen the thread with my unnaturally large lefty.
Re: Introduction I'll answer for him cuz he can't ban me now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shut_Up_'n_Play_Yer_Guitar Glad I found a new place to waste my time, I almost got something done yesterday.
I'm going to take the (hopefully brief) reprieve from red dots to internet it up in here LOLZORZ Fuck, i was slightly depressed to read Tucker's message. Oh well. I'm grateful this place exists, I was disheartened that the Idiot Board was not one of the flames carried on by the initial sites set up, but now it is. I'm intrigued to see where this site goes.
I'm glad that someone restarted at least part of this, because I always enjoyed wasting occasional time here. My one regret is my avatar. I think it only exists now on the old messageboard. It was me, passed out face down with a beer in my hand. I tried using the google cache and a few other things but I can't get the actual image back. I can't imagine ever having another avatar. I probably should have saved it on my computer when I heard that the board was going down about 45 minutes before it actually happened. Tough luck I guess.
I've been lurking the TMMB for several years. I generally checked the boards daily for the stories of others. Never posted once, but I think I'm going to make an attempt to change that habit. Expect to see me more often in automotive/technical/etc threads than the storytelling ones unless my life becomes more interesting in the near future.
Hi I'm Backroom. I posted around 500 times in the last 3 years or so. I'm only here for Gris's cartoons.
Spoons here, spoons on the old board. Mostly a lurker but I've been around posting occasionally for a while now.
I posted with the same name. Been around for 4 or 5 years, never posted much. Glad to see most of that cluster of degenerates migrated somewhere else. I'll echo what many people said about how entertaining and interesting it was to have a place to simultaneously debate theoretical physics, gorilla vs lion fights, the relative merits of various fast food establishments and how and how not to wipe your own ass. All of course capped off with Bunny telling everyone they were misogynists and Kung Fu Mike posting pictures of drano.
Hello all, I posted about 10 times between 2003 - now. I was deathly afraid of negative rep points, and being a dumbass, rightly so. Look forward to seeing where this new board will take us. Todd
Same name on the old board, only posted a few dozen times, mostly on the Tech Help Thread. I'm feeling optimistic about this board, RMMB is the only board I've ever actually posted on, so we'll see if this place can get the good from that and combine it with some new stuff.
When I went to the RMMB and saw that it was closed down I was surprised because why would an author shut down a popular marketing tool when you have another book coming out? from messageboarddottuckermaxdotcom: "...famous asshole with a #1 best selling book and movie." Is he saying that he is famous for being an asshole or a famous asshole?
Re: Introduction BANNED!! C'mon, now. I never banned you. Hell, I hardly banned anyone. One idiot sending me 400 emails in a day, when it wasn't even me who banned him, was enough for me to think twice before getting involved in upsetting the unstable. Besides - you were one of the few even remotely close to my age!
Re: Introduction There was not a lot of coordination behind the scenes on moderation. There weren't any policies or memos handed out, all the mods had been there for years, so you know generally whats acceptable, its kind of like obcsenity... Every once in a while you'd see someone get banned and there would be some discussion as to why that person was banned and occasionally that led to the person being unbanned. Frankly the vast majority of banning/deleting was just getting rid of spam. Most bans were only a few days anyway, unless you were incredibly annoying. We (the non-Rudius employee Mods) found out the place was closing down maybe tuesday or wednesday before it actually happened, which led to PWJ dropping "let me get back to you next week" posts in the advice thread, mass bannings where we started leaving "there have been reports you have been sexually harassing other board members" as the message people got when they were banned, my (failed) attempt to get a bunch of boob posts for offering up mod status to the best boobs the day after the board was scheduled to close and finally boozie just blasting go fuck yourself all over the place. For those of you upset about your ban in the last few days, it was really all just part of the ultimate punchline of the place. I can't speak for the other mods, but I was as disappointed as any of you the place was closing as it had provided years of entertainment. There's very little sense in speculating as to Tucker's motives, the guy can do whatever he wants with the place, he owned it. If anything, you should thank him for creating the place and hopefully this spin-off and the others will be as entertaining. As for anyone who thinks we were too harsh in the advice board, please, some of those questions were unreal.
I was TheMephis on the old board. You'll find me mostly talking about hockey and TV. I go to the beach for a few days and this is what I find? No RMMB and a new board? Oh well. I'm pretty optimistic and wicked happy a new board was made so quickly and that lots of my favourite posters decided to join it. I always loved the "Can Somebody help me" and "Ask a Scientist" threads. The board's diversity and knowledge pool was a real asset. I think this board has potential because it isn't affiliated with Tucker. No offense to him, it's just that his name draws a lot of undesirables. There are the guys who spent too much time trying to be like him and think about what he would do than focusing on who they really were. Then there were all the people who joined just to troll and bash Tucker. Hopefully this can move beyond all that and assume its own identity. Other things: 1. I am subscribed to several threads and keep getting email notifications. That's going to get messy pretty quickly. Any way I can just log on to my Control Panel and see which threads have new posts? 2. I like the idea of rep in some way just as a method of shooting someone quick feedback about a post. Points, anonymity, all that yada yada yada is "whatever" for me.
I was pretty much a lurker on the old board (same username) and figured I'd sign up so I have another place to check out during down time at work. That being said, I'm just here to help the ball club, and the good lord willing, things will work out.
Yeah, that was me. I don't get as many automatically sent to me as I used to, but if you're ever looking for anything just let me know and I'll see if I can dig it up.
