Idiot Board Introduction - Start Here

I was BeatYourKids on the old board. I found the board in 2005, and I think I registered in 2006; however, I didn't post often.

For the most part, I always thought the mods were very fair and I really don't understand the bitching about them. I did some stupid things when I first started posting and was called out by the mods. I talked to them about it and PMs and realized what I did was wrong. I also posted a negative review in the movie forum. I was never banned. The whole sentiment of being afraid to post on a message board because you are afraid of mods is ridiculous.

The one thing that stood out to me was how everybody's opinion of a subject changed when a mod or Tucker chimed in. Take Nirvanaslave. At first everybody laughed at him, but as soon as a mod or Tucker said he was cool, everybody loved him. Then he made more comics and people said he should his own Rudius page. Alas, when a mod says he's now being stupid, everybody else agreed.

 

I am using the same name I used over at TMMB/RMMB. I started there back on the old boards, and saw about everything there was to see over there. I mostly lurked, because, well, I often wasn't witty enough, or just didn't care enough, or was late to the game.

Thanks guys for setting up this place. It is nice to see all the old "faces."

 

Good to see this new board up so quickly with so many familiar people. I was a sporadic visitor and poster on the RMMB for about five years. I have learned so much about myself, life, and the world around me due to the experiences, information, and passion that you folks shared with me on that board. I'm slightly less socially retarded (Thanks, Advice Board), in much better physical condition (Thanks, ChasingKaz Forum), and much happier in general (Thanks, all of the resplendent Boobie and Booty thread contributors).

Over the past few years, the Internets have been increasingly clogged by so many 'me too' posts, blatant attempts at viral marketing, and emoticons. Attention whores, illiterate tweens, guido douchebags, trolls, and facebook moms are tirelessly with their spamming of pointless narcissistic drivel. The lack of those is precisely what was great about the RMMB. People posted when they had something useful, enlightening, or entertaining to say and those who posted unintelligible Internets-style prose were quickly berated and dispatched.

It's a little sad to see it gone so suddenly, but at least Tucker provided links to new places instead of giving us a blank page. I get the feeling that the lackluster box office had a huge impact on Tucker's ego. I saw a post on the 'Drinking For Two' blog today that Rudius Media is shutting down. Seems like he is eliminating all of his distractions to singularly focus his energy. Regardless, I appreciate the time that he spent creating and cultivating the RMMB and Rudius Media. Thank you Tucker.

It is nice to see that the traditions of the old board have carried over here. If financial reasons are ever a danger to this continuation of this board, I'll gladly donate.

 

Like many, just want to say thanks for starting this up. And here I was worried that I might actually be productive at work.

 

Just checking in.. I actually stopped posting on RMMB for a few weeks because I was turning into an asshole, but I was totally shocked to see the board down when I checked it a few minutes ago (namely because I saw a notice that Drinking For Two was being pulled as well).

Glad to see we've regrouped- if anyone needs VB help let me know (PHPBB sucks ass).

 

Lurked quite a bit on RMMB for the past few years & posted occasionally. One of the few sites I enjoyed checking out daily, based on the all around community/rules/substance it brought. Laughed til I was in tears a few times and learned some great things.

Moderators & admins IMO did a great job filtering unnecessary bullshit and nob-jobs. Which, with everything, resulted in a great forum. So thank you guys & Tucker Max.

I have been a pretty committed lurker on the RMMB for about 5 years now, but I would post every now and again. I am thrilled that this place has started up. I knew someone would get some kind of alternative site going, I just didn't realize it would be so soon. Kudos, y'all....

I definitiely want to see this board get off the groound, so I will make a genuine effort to contribute more. But you can forget about the boobie pics though....

 

I'm here. I was Rocks on the other one, too. I liked the advice board, but the questions were getting very stupid.

I was TXBelle on the old board. Glad for the opportunity for a new user name. My retarded one was created on a whim with zero thought. Who knew a nickname some asshole called me at parties would haunt me for years on the internet?

Hello all, another long time lurker here but never posted much since I don't have the best sentence structure, grammar, spelling, etc and knew I would get thrashed into pretty good.

What I liked most about the RMMB was lack of idiodic lolz ur kewl!! ;-) posting garbage that has over taken most other message boards. It's nice to come to a place where you can read a variety of different topics to get some insight & knowledge from something you wouldn't normally have exposure to. For me, it's opened my mind in many different ways.

While the RMMB did go down hill for the last bit, i'm hoping everyone here will keep that in mind while we carve our new path.

 

Hey, was a lurker on the TMMB since the few times I posted on the food thread I ended up getting a couple day ban for disagreeing with a moderator about the proper way to marinate/grill. Probably why I ended up lurking, kind of hard to argue with somebody holding all the cards.

There was a lot of confusion about me in the last few months on the RMMB.
I was picked on by some of the moderators (I'm talking about you, SLF, Bunny, poopourri, etc.) and they took it upon themselves to alter my account settings (Screen name, avatar, signature, etc.) without my knowledge or consent. It was constantly changing, and they would edit my posts to make me sound gay.
I never left because as some people have already mentioned, it was a great place to learn new things that I had no comprehension of before.
I really hope that this place takes off, and I would like to see rep COMMENTS (not points) return. It is a great way to relay a message quickly. But when you add a positive or negative slant to it, then there can be trouble.

 

Hey, I posted a bit on the old boards, but lurked a lot, too. I mostly read the pop culture and sports stuff there. I actually appreciated the moderating when it came to that stuff so I wasn't forced to sift through post after post of 'TAH FAWKIN PATRIOTS ARE TAH GREATEST TEAM EVA!" or "IF YOU AIN'T A YANKEE'S FAN, GO FUCK YOURSELF!"

I've also been on other boards where threads get hijacked into political discussions or some other such shit, and it just ruins any kind of fun the place may be.

I guess I'm just hoping that a lack of moderation doesn't encourage the stupid, as I fucking hate stupid.
