    Also, scary things I have learned about nature today: eels don't swallow. Instead, they have a second jaw, that shoots out, grabs the food from their mouth, and brings it down into their gut.

    Also, they are referring to Asian carp "attacking" people on rivers because they'll leap and then hit unsuspecting people in the face. Which is hilarious. They claimed that one knocked a woman off of a jet ski.

    I took the corners to lunch at the neighborhood greasy spoon and fed them fried shrimp and cheeseburgers. I ate a big burger myself and washed it down with three beers. I foresee a cranky wife and a nap in the very near future.

    After working all day today, it was a pleasant surprise to discover that I'm not working tomorrow as I had believed, and that I have the next two days off.

    I have one week til payday, and fuck all money left but such an occasion requires beer so I have decided to indulge. I can exist on packet-pasta and noodles until next Friday.

    Basically, I'ma get fucked up, and smoke until I can't speak. Then I'm going to spunk what little money I have left on junk food, and suffer all week. It. Will. Be. Awesome.*





    *It won't, but at this point I am committed.

    EDIT: Ten minutes ago, I sat with my feet out of my bedroom window, smoking a cigarette with my feet resting on the bush underneath. Sixty seconds ago, what felt like a bead of sweat ran down my calf. I pull up my trouser leg, and adhered to my ankle was a giant, shiny black cunting spider. It's now dead on my floor, and I feel like John Hurt in 'Alien'.

    Breakfast was delicious, coffee is fantastic and I am enjoying my first Sunday off (not sick or requested) in four fucking years.

    The only real complaint I have is that my quads are still in agony from lifting Thursday night. I even hit the elliptical and have drank enough water to drown myself in trying to get all the lactic acid flowing, to no avail. I still need help to get off the toilet. I cry getting out of the car. Ugh, this will pass....

    Hey, I have a question for the couple of other bakers here:

    When I was in Panama, I went to a cacao farm, and we got a 4 oz thing of pure cacao/unsweetened chocolate to take home. Any ideas on what to do with it? I'm only ever in the fruity baking mindset in summer, and I can't come up with something chocolatey but summery at the same time, and I don't want to wait until Fall just in case it gets stale. I was going to make a chocolate sauce to put on ice cream, but that seems boring. I want to do something at least a little special since it's such high quality chocolate .

    I'm about to go get the ingredients for my annual batch of vichyssoise and I'm so excited. Om nom nom.

    Caribbean Fudge Pie! My mom has a really good recipe for this...it is dense, very darkly chocolately, and topped artistically with walnuts.

    Or you could make some straight up fudge.
