Awesome episode. I was already laughing during the intro when they cut off Charlie's scream. Rickety Cricket was hilarious too. "At least I get banged in my vagina, if you know what I'm talking about!"
As Philly native, I loved this episode. First of all, it reminded me of the Flyers' awesome run, and it reminded me of Rocky (training montage). It was cool to see Steve and Preston (real djs in Philly) on the show, especially after reading about how Mac and Charlie bought a bar with those guys in Old City. It's great stuff from a "local" perspective. It was also fun to see how out of touch Frank is with technology, how Dee and Dennis thought they were going to be able to come up with a high brow show after shitting all over Preston and Steve for being goof offs, and then they quickly spiraled into the same shtick. Granted it's not as funny as when they buying crack back in season one, but hey, it's still good tv. I liked the general silliness of the whole thing, and I think these guys really capture the perfect depraved Philadelphia sportsfan/South Philly loser. It's great that Charlie knew how to expertly skate right away. For a guy who can't do anything right, they just have him be a natural skater- that's fantastic. The look and feel of the show has changed since the World Series Defense, but I still think it is one of the best comedies on tv. Seriously, it's like a live action version of Family Guy.
I'm just glad they finally sacked up and admitted Dee was pregnant. They've been doing a pretty shit job of hiding it all season. That was also clearly the funniest episode they've done this year, gotta love the McPoyles.
I think this past week's episode was probably the funniest of the season. The whole Lethal Weapon 5 movie was classic.
We're all in agreement the girl was a hooker/escort and they filmed Frank actually fucking her, right?
If you've seen 'The Room'(which is the worst movie ever made and I HIGHLY recommend that everyone watches it), it's even better, nice homage.
Mac talking about Ian Mckellen shooting laser beams into his boyfriend's asshole and Dennis doing an Australian accent as Mel Gibson were probably the funniest parts of this season. Frank banging the hooker on camera was amazing, too.
Two episodes into the season and no one has brought this thread back yet? Spoiler So far this season looks promising. I almost choked laughing at Charlie puking blood all over his date in the limo in the first episode. It was just so absurdly unrealistic, even for this show. And how bad did you feel for Charlie in tonight's episode when he woke up with the waitress and found out she was on drugs the whole night?
RUM HAM!!!! I'M SORRY RUM HAM!!! I'M SORRY!! Seriously, this season so far has more than made up for some of the garbage they put out recently (I'm looking at you, Dave and Busters episode). I think something clicked once they did the Christmas special to just make the show as insanely fucking crazy as possible.
I am usually one to badmouth the initial haters to any new season of tv shows but I really just not liked either of the first two episodes. I just think the shit has been too over the top even for this show... The rum ham joke was alright and them partying on the guido boat was funny. Dennis and Dee with a band of meth heads burying murdered corpse? The blood packets from the fist episode? Does it feel like the crazyness is them stretching to find material?
The first episode seemed a little forced (but still pretty funny), I thought the second episode was hilarious. The juxtaposition in the montage was awesome. I don't really like that Mac put on weight. Seems like a "jumping the shark" moment. But, kudos to him for actually doing it solely to be funny.
So I use my Timewarner DVR to record this, even though I schedule with the minute before and after recording the end is always sliced off. Ive heard shows do this to make sure you tune in to the actual show. Anyone else have this problem? It pisses me off that the last minute is always cut off on this show.
You should be recording Archer afterwards, so it shouldn't matter anyway. I'm not sure if Timewarner has the option like some of the other companies do, but can't you just change the settings for the show or season to record a couple minutes early and late?
