So my roommate introduced me to this yesterday. I've played two games, both with Kassadin, against easy bots. I'm fucking awful.

My early game / farming is terrible. I pick up late game when I can use his rad teleport thing to pick people off, but mostly focus on not dying.

What should I focus learning early on? It seems like people pick different champs for different lanes but with the same goal in each lane I don't really see it.

Most importantly what the fuck is jungle and what do they do?

Focus on last hitting your minions. What that means is make sure you get the killing blow on them so you get the gold. Getting a feel for when you should be pushing your lane to take the tower or just sitting back and farming is important, too. Eventually you will want to know when and where to put wards, keeping track of jungle monster timers, looking at how your opponents are building so you can counter, and keeping track of your opponents cooldowns. I always say not dying is a lot more important than getting kills. The certain champs for certain lanes is the meta-game, or the cookie cutter teams. Usually you put a tanky fighter or good sustainer solo top, an AP[magic] mage champ mid, ADC[physical damage] and either a tank or support mage together on bottom. The jungle is just the monsters that re-spawn outside of the main lanes, you put another tankyish/fighter in the jungle to avoid stealing minions and kills from your other top player. Junglers will be ganking your lanes and also watching out for the enemy jungler.

I'd recommend playing the ARAM mode to get used to all the different champions. Also, just start playing with real people, it's a lot different than bots.

Some easy champs to play at first would be Ashe, Morgana, Master Yi, Jax, Garen, Karthus, Nasus.

So jungle roams between top/mid lanes?

How often should I be creeping?

How can you tell when the right time to push a tower is? (Early game)

What do you mean by creeping? If you're talking about farming minions, you should be doing it as much as possible. But generally if you're a bottom support you don't farm, just keep your carry alive. The jungler will follow a certain path to maximize their xp gains and will usually gank when they have the red and blue buffs. I really can't explain on knowing when to push a tower, it's something you figure out as you play. If someone is dead on the other team it's usually a good time to push, if you know where the other teams jungler is then that is a good time also. Not just junglers will gank, a good mid will help out with ganks also. Paying attention to your minimap is really important. Calling MIAs from your lane helps everyone else.

Creeping I meant killing the dudes in the woods.

Played my first game against actual people, went 7/4/8. Roommate backseated and helped let me know which items I needed. Got jumped (ganked?) a few times when I overcommitted and didn't have wards up - learned where to ward pretty quickly. Farm is getting better but still not great.

Need a couple more games and need to do some research on buying items but I did better against players than I did bots. They make more mistakes that you can capitalize on.

You won't want to steal the jungle creeps until laning phase is over. Your jungler will get pissed. Laning phase ends once you start getting towers down. Generally your supports and jungle will do warding but it doesn't hurt to buy them yourself if no one else is.

    This is kind of funny.

Did anyone watch the video on the LoL site about making Leona's sword in real life? Pretty sick.

You don't need research. For now, use these http://www.lolking.net/guides/ and http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/browse in that order. Make sure the Thumbs up to thumbs down ratio is good enough. These are training wheels (some get really in-depth though) once you learn the ins and out of champions, will be adjusting stuff on the fly.

I've been playing random normals with gold players. I don't know how or why - maybe because I finally got my normal w/l ratio positive? I'm getting shit on. Sad times.

I've noticed a higher average ranking in my normal games, too. Mainly plat and high gold players, but even a Diamond I last night and a Diamond 5 in another game. I wonder if more of the high-tier players are returning to bolster their ranking for season 4? I have no idea waht's going on, but I have definitely had some tougher matchups in the last two weeks.

Probably the top players are coming back with their smurfs to make sure they get the season rewards also. Or they're practicing new shit and want a break from the grind of the actual competition. I hope to make another run at Silver this week since it seems like people are actively trying to win and not troll.

Anybody else watching the World Championships? I'm fascinated by the pro scene. North America is doing way better than I expected with a 3-3 record overall thus far, although TSM is probably going to get shit on today by the two European and Korean teams. Best part so far has been watching the heavily hyped Samsung Galaxy Ozone team of out Korea completely fall apart thus far.

I wish I could get into watching Pros, but 20 minutes in, I see someone pull something off and I want to go try it myself. I feel like I barely have enough time to play the game and make any progress, let alone just sit there and watch.

Reginald is dragging that team down in every regard. His playcalling is questionable and his actual mechanics on every champ but Karthus are substandard for a professional - on any team that he didn't own, he'd have been booted ages ago. That Fizz play was embarrassing.

I've been surprised by how strong the EU teams have come out - Fnatic has been taking absolute shits on people so far, and Gambit is, well, Gambit, and they've been a top team since the M5 days. But Korea is definitely looking weaker than I'd expected considering the hype.

Just finished watching the day 2 games, because Riot is a being a dick to Europeans and scheduling games between 2am and 8am. Watching fnatic tear through teams brings such joy to my heart.

Can you guys post links to these?
I always try to find the replays of the games and never seem to find a clear cut easy way to view them.

Here's Day 1 Group Stage. 10 games total, five each from Group A and Group B

Day 2 Group stage: Just five games from Group B

Day 3 Group stage: Five more games, this time Group A

Don't be intimidated by the length of the broadcasts, there's quite a bit of downtime while they set up between matches. They do a good job of showing countdowns until the next match and you can skip around pretty easily. Have fun!
