13,100 IP is a lot. That's a lot of wins. But it makes a lot of sense. Having to buy that with cash is fucking retarded.
Holy shit I hate ranked. 6 games today. Win my lane in all them (including a very satisfying stomping of a Riven b/c fuck that champ), and can't carry these fuckers to victory. Latest game, if you add up the kills from our jungle, support, and ADC, you would get a # less than any single one of them had in deaths.
Had reset man. BRAND NEW SEASON. Everyone starts at zero. Except for the LCS pros. I think I might be getting into the mix tonight, let's duo so we can not fuck this up and start off where we need to be.
Too late to edit that, but I just did. Also if idiots read the updates. The good news is there shouldn't be blatant tier V trolling anymore, because it will be REALLY hard to get demoted from Silver V to Bronze I, but it is totally possible now.
No, they were bullshitting because they still wanted people playing ranked during pre-season to test changes in competitive play. So they gave this vague answer to what they were doing. The thing I posted earlier is based off said bullshit.
Not sure if you saw this, but this should explain it. I think I get it now. This shouldn't be that difficult and they should have explained this much clearer. Spoiler The 2014 ranked season has started and many summoners are curious to how their placement matches and last season ranking figure in to where they end up. Here's Riot Socrates with more info: "We wanted to give some extra clarification on placement matches for the start of the 2014 season. There’s been some discussion from players who seeded lower than they expected, so I thought I’d talk about that a bit. First – there was a ‘soft reset’ in ranked but it was not as strong as in previous seasons. What that means in practical terms is that the system does take account your performance in previous seasons but the playing field has been leveled slightly. Your initial seeding is based on your performance in the previous season coupled with performance in your promotional games. Second – most players will find they are placed close to where they were in the previous season, but there are some who’ll be placed lower or higher than in the previous season based on their game history. For example a player who was division V and lost a lot of games at 0 LP last season would see those losses reflected in their placement in the current season. If a player is placed into a league below their skill level due to a string of losses in their placements, they’ll see accelerated gains / division skipping as they continue to win games that will quickly push them to their correct league position Third (and finally) – I’ll be adding a placement match section to the 2014 season ranked FAQ to clarify questions here where possible (This FAQ should be up soon)." When asked what the point of a soft reset was, he replied "Hey, happy to answer that one. The game changes a lot from one season to the next (for example jungle and support changes), and being the best in season 3 may not mean being the best in the 2014 season. The best way to capture that difference in our opinion is with seasons. Also lots of players improve from one season to the next. The seasonal reset gives everybody a fresh start so the system doesn't become overly stratified."
I played my first s4 ranked today and we stomped them, which makes me wonder if I was placed really low. I'm dubious of how "soft" this reset was. Curse's SaintVicious went from diamond 1 to gold 1 after going 4-6. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. From what I hear it's more important how you do in your early games than your later ones.
That is how they should have it. Basically what the previous shitty elo system was like, but without the clear breakdowns of what it meant to be where. Because promotions are fucking terrible. You get trolled so hard when it comes to them, and it just makes no sense, because all those other people should be in promotion too. I hate this game.
Can I get a brief rundown of what all has changed since S3? I have a general sense, but I'm not really up to reading 4 months of patch notes. I've been watching LCS, and I'm playing bot games to try to get back into it, but it seems like lots is different. I'm good with charms, but wtf is this new jungle camp? Are there new items? Any significant meta shifts? HALP
Basically most mages can be support. Doran's Shield is a primary start item for almost everyone besides ADCs and certain mids. A lot of tanky champions are now OP because of defensive mastery column being way too strong. Overall, NOTHING major has changed, but a TON of little things have changed with item passives, abilities etc. The new jungle camp is to help junglers who want to level and give another pathing option for when mid steals wraiths or something like that.
There is also the vision changes which I think were discussed here previously. No individual player can have more than 3 green wards down at a time (similar to how it works when placing sightstone wards, only this applies to ALL green wards even if you buy them from the shop) and only 1 pink ward at a time per player plus the addition of vision trinkets. Only one gold income item per champion (there are 3 different kinds) and they all build into different things but people generally just do the one that ultimately builds into Shurelia's like the old days. Meta is pretty much what Parker said. Top is now all about mana-less champs with lots of susaint/regen (Mundo, Shyvana, etc) though you can get away with certain mages up there like Karth and Gragas if you have other tanks like Leona who is VERY popular at the moment. Bot lane is all about champs who can engage (Annie, Leona, Thresh, etc). Jungle is pretty much always a tank but that isn't too new. The new jungle camp has been rather inconsequential. If anything I'd say it's more beneficial to purple side than blue. Gives your jungler something to do while his ult's CD finishes or your ADC can farm it. On blue side the position seems bad and early on it's actually pretty difficult to kill by yourself.
Well the game is being hacked by DerpTrolling again. Interesting thing is this next patch, they're fixing ranked pick order to be random and not based on the magical unseen MMR.
Just hit 30, started playing my placements. Despite fucking up hard one game and playing Yi (who I never fucking play and should not have picked), I'm 3-2 right now. If I stick with Jax jungle/top and Fizz mid/top I should hopefully win at least 3 of the next 5 as well. Working on playing normals to improve my adc/supporting. Really liking Cait.
Dunno if it was on purpose or not, but I feel like you picked 2 really good champs to start learning. Jax and Fizz stomp on people in low level soloQ. As for Cait, her range is her biggest asset so always use it to your advantage. Farm without taking much harass and then if you get ahead, use it to zone your enemy away from their farm.
