One thing that kept bothering me from the premiere was the scratch/burn/scab that was on Jack's neck on the plane. If I remember correctly, after the initial crash in Season 1, didn't Jack have a similar mark somewhere else on his face? I know this is really minute stuff but maybe this could be a little hint that even though they aren't on the Island in the flash sideways, their future is still connected.
so yea I was watching deleted scenes the other day and found this interesting Spoiler don't know if a spoiler box is necessary or not, but this occurred immediately after Claire got rpgd <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZs8XZsKh3U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZs8XZsKh3U</a>
Pretty sure Helen mentioned inviting Locke's dad to their wedding. That would either mean: 1. Cooper wasn't responsible for Locke being in a wheelchair 2. Locke forgave Cooper for pushing him out a window (and he wasn't in jail for whatever reason) 3. Locke was adopted in this reality Annnnnnnnd... the just showed Ben and Locke in the school. Awesome. So Jacob is in charge of protecting the Island. The Island is what made him special, not vice versa. Interesting. Kind of a slow episode with the ho hum life of LA Locke that got really amped the final 20 minutes. Hopefully next week will really get things moving as all the story arcs seem to have been laid out: 1 - The people at the Temple 2 - FLocke and Sawyer 3 - The people out in the jungle (Kate, Jin, Claire) 4 - The people coming from the statue (Frank, Sun, etc) Did I miss any?
Jesus Christ, Flocke is goddamn creepy. So, NOW we know what Candidate means. And here is my question... Why wasn't Kate a Candidate? Jacob visited her at one point... so we know she may have been at one point. So what did she do to disqualify her candidacy? And when that mysterious fucking kid told Flocke he couldn't kill him... was he talking about Sawyer? Can Flocke not kill candidates either? Also, we know that there is "a war coming" and we've assumed it's between Jacob and Smokey. But what if Smokey isn't Jacob's true nemesis? What if there is something worse on the way? After all, Jacob said it himself... "they're coming"
That really wasn't the pivotal episode I thought it was going to be. The big revelation at the end was kind of bleh. We always knew about Jacob and his lists. I thought for sure we would get a Jin/Sun reunion or something else. I'm pretty sure Sawyer is going to wuss out of whatever Flocke has planned once Kate starts crying and pleads with him to quit. I thought one of the coolest things they did was have the hatch alarm become Locke's clock radio alarm.
My guess is her decision to kill her step-father. When Locke left the Barracks with the Others he said he tried to argue on Kate's behalf for her to be included, to which they responded by telling him what she did. Locke then said they weren't big on forgiveness. Ford was 15. Kwon 42.
Why Kate isn't on that list is a very very good question. And the curly haired woman is Ilana, and she was never a candidate, she was working for Jacob, I believe they were his "bodyguards" according to Flocke when he spoke to Bram. Though didn't Ilana say that Lapidus could be a candidate? Whatever, I think we're all hoping that Hurley is the island's next protector.
I'm interested to see how Widmore plays into both timelines in play right now, if at all. Do you guys think Ben ever even had contact with Jacob, or was Flocke just playing Richard off of Ben the whole time through the Lostie's intervention in Dharmaville? Basically what I'm getting at is whether Widmore is relevant at all or if he is just a faux nemesis for Ben that was integral in getting Faraday to convince the Lostie's to enable Locke to manipulate Ben into getting tricked by Flocke to kill Jacob. nowaddimean? EDIT: Oh and I swear the poster behind Locke when he was at the temp agency was a picture of Desmond.
What interests me is why only one Kwon is on the list, and which one is it. Did any of the crossed off names have numbers next to them as well? Or were the numbers assigned once it was narrowed down to the final six? Manbehindthecurtain: I see what you mean by that, whether Widmore was a legitimate threat or just another pawn by FLocke. I suppose we'll find out more come Desmond's role in everything. We still haven't seen much of him or any of the tailies yet except for Bernard coming back from the john.
And the fact that clearly these numbers have some other significance to them. I doubt Jacob was referencing the Valenzetti Equation when he was scratching names on the ceiling. So... How the fuck is Sawyer supposed to get out of that cave without the ladder? And someone mentioned it before but I want to add how significant it was that Helen wanted to invite Locke's father. Locke being with her suggests he never became obsessed with revenge against Anthony Cooper. So perhaps he didn't steal his kidney? Perhaps he got paralyzed some other way, suggesting again the inevitability of all of their situations.
Calling it right now. The Kwon on the list is Sun and Jin's baby, Ji yeon. Jacob said their love was special. She was the first person to get pregnant on the island. The reason pregnant women died was because Ji yeon was the candidate. Adam and Eve will be Sun and Jin. I win. EDIT: Looked up the name of the kid.....and got it wrong. I suck. Apologies. My point still stands, the first pregnant woman to give birth and live.
Seriously? You looked up the name and still got it wrong? Jin's daughter is named... Jin? the baby's name is Ji Yeon, hence the season 4 episode titled... Ji Yeon. And she wasn't anywhere near the first to get pregnant on the island, just the first to get pregnant on the island and have the baby live.
Baby's full name is Ji Yeon Kwon. <a class="postlink" href="http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ji_Yeon_Kwon" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ji_Yeon_Kwon</a>
I thought it might be worthwhile to point out that all these people were shown on the plane that landed safely in LAX (depending on just who "Kwon" is). One would think that whoever the new Jacob is, (s)he wouldn't also be able to live their life that led to them being on Oceanic 815. I like the idea that Jacob could die but what he represented persists. It maintains the theme of duality and ever-opposing forces, while I feel to have his spirit/conciousness come back within someone else seems "cheap." As for Ji Yeon being the chosen one... eh, BSG already did that and I'm hoping for something more.
Any thoughts on the kid on the island that Flocke and Sawyer saw? My guess: Aaron. I have some crazy, fucked up theory rattling around in my brain, but I'm exhausted and can't piece it all together right now. Fuck.
