Wooohoooo!!! You stay classy Jack Shepard http://perezhilton.com/2010-02-24-lost-star-matthew-fox-accused-of-cheating-with-stripper
If you are talking about the horribly photo-shopped picture next to the pic of Jack and his dad at the hospital, it was his mom.

The issue is that Christian's body was not in the coffin when Jack originally found it. This is conjecture on my part, but I feel like there may be a spirit, force, or whatever you want to call it that has the power to physically take over dead bodies, in contrast to MiB's power to recreate them. This would explain the fact that Christian's appearances throughout the season have not been clearly consistent with what MiB wants (meaning 2 Christians), the fact that Claire refers to her father and her "friend" as separate entities, and the fact that Sayid was dead, is now alive, and seems to be "infected." My point was not that every person who dies has two versions of him wandering around, but Christian's corpse was either awakened or taken somewhere by someone, and we shouldn't assume that every Christian appearance has definitely been MiB. Judging by Flocke, MiB does not need to take over the physical corpse to take on their image, so his corpse's disappearance is still not explained.
Theory regarding Austen as #51: So the Numbers were the numeric values of the Valenzetti Equation that Dharma was trying to change. Now that Locke is dead and 4 is crossed out, could that signal a shift in what numbers work in the Valenzetti Equation? 51 could replace 4 in the equation; also making the New Numbers: 8 15 16 23 42 51. Hard to say what effects changing the prediction of human extinction will have. It does indicate that Smoke killing Locke had unintended consequences (that is, beyond killing Jacob). Maybe Kate has a new role in Jacob’s plans now that her number is represented among the Numbers. Note: Lostpedia claims other numbers were not crossed out, all with random unknown names next to them. However they were not put in nearly as much focus as Austen’s name was so I m not sure how much we should care. Also 51 is the lowest not crossed out number (Lostpedia says 40 is not crossed out but it looks pretty crossed out when I rewatched).
I couldn't help but think of Job during the scene in which Ben kills Jacob. I mean, I know Ben isn't exactly the picture of piety, but he was innocent at one point. The conversation itself though is reminiscent, Ben saying something along the lines of "I did everything you've asked, what about me?" and Jacob responding "What about you?" It seemed more a contemplative and curious a response than a taunting one, Jacob has always emphasized that there is always a choice to stand and be true (hey dark tower) regardless of circumstance. I don't see how that jives with Jacob being some malevolent puppeteer, definitely seems more old testament God if we're going that route (well ok maybe some malevolent puppeteering, but not the face of evil, that's almost certainly MiB). Consider another set of characters though, since Lost seems to love the Dark Tower so much. Jacob vs the Man in Black and Jacob "Jake" Chambers vs. uhhh, the Man in Black.
Not sure where you're going with that, since the only time Jake ever saw the MIB was in Wizard & Glass, and his real name was John, not Jacob. Speaking of the Dark Tower, I got that vibe when they showed the Lighthouse. Now I haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet, but I swear right as they started to pan up, there was a flash of crimson at the top. Can anyone confirm via screenshot? If so that would be yet another subtle nod to the series, since the CK was Tower-pent.
Shit you're right about the name, apologies. However, didn't Jake see the MiB before Roland let him fall in the Gunslinger? At the very least he was aware of him and hid, but that doesn't really jive with the nonchalant way we've seen Jacob interact with MiB so I suppose that's a reach. Let me reach even further then and suppose Jacob is the Voice of the Turtle and MiB is IT, so to speak. My guess is that their roles will play out like that, if not intendend to be literal interpretations.
Hey look, I'm going to go ahead and describe the last scene of this fantastic series right now: Jack Shephard, dressed in white, sits on a beach eating fish when James "Sawyer" Ford, dressed in black man-pris (no shirt, naturally) comes out of the jungle to join him. They do not physically engage each other, but conversation ensues and insulting nicknames are uttered. Finally, the camera pans out to reveal a 200 ft tall stone statue of Evangeline Lilly in handcuffs, with an emphasizing shot her rock-hard ass. You're welcome.
Me and girlfriend were sitting around yesterday and came up with an idea about the sickness/ManInBlack. We kept finding stuff that might make it not true but I wanted to post it so others could support/debunk it for us. We believe that when a candidate on the island dies, they are brought back to life (somehow, haven't figured this out yet), and then they become infected with the sickness. Rousseau's crew all went underneath the temple and came out presumably infected. They obviously had turned on Rousseau because her man tried to kill her but she'd pulled the pin. The last time we saw Claire, she was in her house in Othertown and that got blown up by a rocket. She was magically okay minutes later but then the next day disappeared. Sayid dies at the temple for a few minutes, then comes alive and has the sickness according to the Temple others. We know Sayid's is a candidate, and I'm pretty sure I've heard mentioned that Claire and Montand (the guy who lost his arm from Rousseau's crew) were candidates on the wall and the wheel. The smoke monster chose to take up the form of John Locke because he was the leader of the Others and it was his only way to get to Jacob. He knew Locke was going to be the leader b/c of the time traveling. Now, while the smoke monster can "claim" and also take over Locke's body, he cannot directly kill a candidate. Which is why the little boy told him "You can't kill him. You know the rules" He is allowed to claim the candidate once he is dead but NOT buried which is why people are always buried on the island, to stop them from being infected. Richard made it a point back in 1974 that he wanted to know where the bodies were buried that Sawyer and Juliet killed and asked how good did they bury them. I believe he didn't want any of his people or Dharma's to be infected and show up again. Why would he save Sawyer from falling off the cliff? If he had just let him go he could have "claimed" him. I said, Sawyer would have fell into the ocean and the body wouldn't have made it. Thoughts? Anything that might make this seem completely farfetched?
I think that once a 'candidate' dies they are no longer eligible, though they are still possessed. Basically they won't be able to play the big role they were a candidate for, but they still have some big picture relevance. One other thing, sorry if it's been brought up: Jack's number was 108, which is the sum of the all the other numbers, which is obviously relevant in some way.
Sorry, Jack's number was clearly number 23. General internet concensus based on screen caps number 108 was Spoiler Wallace. Whoever that is.
Richard did want to know where the bodies were buried, but I believe it was Horace who actually asked "how well did you bury them?" Horace was just concerned Richard had found the bodies and was planning on what to do next, before Sawyer just went out and talked to Richard.
Lot of candidates that have died on the island and not been buried, though the whole thing sounds like a stretch. <a class="postlink" href="http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Candidates" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Candidates</a> 14.
