You know what I would love to see emerge from the super-secret locked-up lucky bag room? An explanation for why Flocke didn't let CrazyClaire carve a set of gills onto Kate's neck. Seriously, the writers would have us believe that Flocke - in his alter ego as Smokey - makes no bones whatsoever about dropping bodies left and right in the Temple, on the Hydra, in the Statue, and anywhere else he can grab them by the ankles but when all he has to do is let some crazy Aussie gut one of the worst characters in television history...then he gets squeamish? I call bullshit. At least we're finally going to learn how exactly Jacob touched Richard next week. I'm hoping it was with a big magical Maybelline applicator or something.
Solid ep, although Sawyer can't seriously think that his "plan" will work. I give him 60000000000000000/1 odds. I'm expecting a fuckload of answers next week. I don't think I'll be disappointed.
He promised all of those people he would protect them. He needs the people for something, and if a few hours after he promises them protection his oldest soldier cuts Kate's head off it's going to be hard for them to trust him. Yeah, until we saw the sub I couldn't figure out who those people were. I felt pretty stupid... Now, do we believe that Widmore's people didn't kill the Ajira survivors? (Though, I guess they aren't so much as survivors anymore.) I'm more inclined to believe it was Flocke, but I'm on the fence. Better than my guess of Eloise Hawking... perhaps Widmore knows something about Desmond we don't. Perhaps Widmore was pushing Des towards that race all along. Perhaps Widmore had been in contact with Jacob. Or... judging by that look on Flocke's face when Sawyer told him that Charles Widmore was in the sub, perhaps Widmore really is obsessed with posessing the Island. Perhaps he wants Jacob's seat even though he can't have it...
Maybe there's some sort of way you can make yourself a Candidate, and put yourself in the position to take over Jacob's role of the island. When Flocke told Ben in Dr. Linus that if he came to the Hydra Island and helped him escape, he promised he would let him have the island, and become it's leader again, Ben found that very very interesting, and it seemed he liked that offer. Perhaps this could be another Ben Vs Widmore battle for the island's leadership. How did Sawyer know Widmore wasn't on Flocke's side to begin with. He didn't really try to find out, just kinda jumped straight into it.
Why did Widmore make camp at the smaller island and not the main island? Does he need the hydra station for something? And how does he know that Locke isn't Locke? Jacbo is going to end up being the bad guy, right?
You say they wouldn't trust him? I say they'd give him and CrazyClaire a raucous round of applause. I only have to deal with Kate for less than 24 hours a year and I can't stand her. They have to deal with her 24 hours a day, so I'm surprised no one else has fragged her yet.
The one thing I like about Flocke is that even though he is manipulative, he is painfully honest. There is a very interesting dynamic going on here between MiB and Jacob, and I really don't think its going to come down to one being good and one being bad, there are all kinds of shades of gray involved here. I can only hope that this is true, even though I kind of doubt it. We have gone far too long without any serious screen time for old Brotha Desmond.
The thing that still gets me is way back when in season three when Mr. Friendly comments that Shepard wasn't even on Jacob's list. So how did everyone's favorite jear squirter go from not on Jacob's list to being a candidate? LaFleur is the most awesome codeword ever, if I were into S&M, it would totally be my safeword.
I think he was talking about the original list, which had the names of all of the people that the Others took from the camps and into their own group, like Cindy and the kids.
Sawyer as a detective was a good idea. I'm still waiting to see what the fuck the sideways world has to do with the main story. So far, it feels like half of the season has been thrown away on a scenario that doesn't have anything to do with the five previous seasons. It's kinda pissing me off. If Sawyer is a cop in sideways world, why did he help Kate at the airport? He clearly saw the cuffs... That creepy skull baby? Still creepy. It seems to me that FLocke maybe can't exactly lie. He can just work around the truth in maybes and possibilities that make you think he said something straight out. That whole, "They were killed by the Black Smoke" conversation with Cindy was very... manipulative. Looks like most people have solid relationships with their Dads in world_x. Dr. Chang works at the museum with Charlotte, according to Miles. Hey Sawyer, you knew that folder was in the drawer you told her to look in. Why flip the fuck out? That plane is barely damaged. Frank is one hell of a pilot. A sunflower and a 6-pack at 3 AM for a girl you've been out with one time and whom you kick out after boning in an explosive rage? Romantic. Thanks for the advice, Michael Landon.
Didn't it seem like she was rifling through that drawer a bit thoroughly, though? Why wouldn't she just grab the 1st (or 2nd, or 3rd) shirt she saw? And the plan to get on the plan and leave the island doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I don't remember seeing any sort of runway, Frank put it down on a sandy stretch that I doubt would be as easy for a takeoff.
A sandy stretch that was flattened and cleared of debris by Kate, Sawyer and the Others under the watchful eye of Danny Pickett and Juliet Burke. I know season three wasn't the best in terms of quality, but it's worth watching nonetheless.
I think sideways world is what would've happened if Jacob had never influenced them, and that whatever happens on the island this season, the result will be that sideways world happens. With respect to Sawyer & Kate, it's probably the same reason that Kate went back to help Claire and Claire got into the car, some leftover connection from world 1.0.
Yeah, that was my biggest problem with this episode. First Miles is all like "What's up with you, you can tell me" then "oh I have this date you must go on with this girl" then Charlotte is pretty quick to fuck him, and then goes through his shit thoroughly, and then he walks back into work with Miles flipping out checking his credit card bills and shit. I mean, I know police partners are close but that is some crazy jealous wife shit right there. I'm not sure if they were trying to play the subtle people will always get pushed in the right direction thing, or what, but I think it was bad directing/writing. Well bad for Lost.
It occurs to me that Miles must know that Nikki and Paulo were buried alive. Since in the Dr. Linus episode he knew about the diamonds, it's implied he psychic-ed their graves. I'm pretty sure if there's anything that was Nikki's "last thoughts," it would be something along the lines of "WAIT NO I'M STILL AL-" Think this will ever be of any importance? I wondered what the heck was the point of that episode.
I am completely on Sawyers side for the whole mess with Charlotte. She clearly "rummaged" through the drawer, and could have easily grabbed a t-shirt. When he showed up to apologize maybe she could have said "I'm sorry James for taking out a manilla folder that is clearly private enough that you keep it is a dresser drawer." Of course he could have hidden it better but I wouldn't have been very happy with that kind of intrusion. Claire's baby was absolutely horrifying, couldn't she use a small coconut for a head? That was creepy.
I thought that part worked out well, actually. The writers were able to acknowledge their mistakes (i.e. Nikki and Paulo) actually existed at one point while also satisfying Miles' established motivation to get some cash out of this whole trip to the island. And didn't he even refer to them as "yahoos" or something? I'm going to imagine that comment stems from the fact that he did read their dying thoughts and arrived at the same conclusion the audience and writers did a while back: these two were too stupid to live.
"Why would I need your money when there are a couple of jabonies under there named Nikki and Paolo who got buried alive with 8.5 million in diamonds" Not an exact quote...
The whole "Aaron has a crazy mother now, too" speech seemed designed to have Kate make sure Aaron continues to be "raised by another". Widmore accepted Sawyer's deal, but I got the feeling he would have gone either way. I was half expecting him to say, "And why would I want to kill him?"
