Anyone read the latest Doc Jensen, especially the last part? http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20313460_20352243,00.html *Spoiler/Theory warning* I didn't follow him the last seasons but is that guy for real? Where does he get all that references from? Or is the name just a front for a team of writers who do all that research? As for his theory, it's good but I don't think it fits. Spoiler He somehow implies that Smokey-Faraday was created when his pregnant mother shot him in 1977. But form what we (believe to) know Smokey/MiB should be a lot older. At least my take. Besides that the theory could fit somehow.
the sonic fence was the big clue to me that Widmore knows what he is up against. Obviously The Losties are going to find a way to be in the middle of it all, but ultimately I'm hoping Hurly is the keystone to the whole resolution of the show.
Pretty sure that no one brought this up but was I the only one who thought it was funny/interesting/pointless when Miles said "A friend of mine works with my dad at the museum." Obviously it didn't mean anything but when Miles mentioned his dad I can't avoid thinking of Pierre. Just another random drunk post.
What? I don't think that anyone who has even just watched Lost passively forgot about Dr. P.F. Chang. I just wonder if he has one hands or two in this timeline.
Looks like two, I've obtained footage of his team in action, keep this on the DL guys Spoiler http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-super-bowl-commercials/09000d5d816449aa/Bud-Light-asteroid-commercial
On a beer-fueled note, I have had a fuckin' assfull of Doc Jensen. Yeah, I took AP Literature too, asshole.
Yeah, I stopped reading the Doc after about the 4th or 5th episode this season. I'd rather watch the show without it being tainted by someone else's ideas. Especially if those ideas are crazier/more elaborate than the show proves to be in the end. I don't need that kind of disappointment. The episode was good, but it seems like a Miles/Sawyer partnership should have been more funny. I mean, on the island they're awesome together, but sideways Miles was way too busy being a jealous partner to make any funnies. Here's to Ab Aeterno.
I just read that Doc Jensen article that someone posted. Some of it does make some sense, some, well wow.... Spoiler Faraday as Smokey? How? Unless jughead shot him way back in time, this doesn't make any sense. Wasn't there a point where Jacob and MiB were standing next to the fully in-tact statue of Taweret? I could be off on that.
His theory has now evolved into Spoiler Smokey = Faraday + Juliet + some other d bags. Like some kind of collective consciousness. It's a bit ridiculous, and if that is correct, then I hope they really explain it, because it sounds like a copout to me.
So he's trying to say that Smokey is LOST's version of The Borg? If that happens, I call shenanigans. Very, very much looking forward to "Ab Aeterno" tonight.
Agreed. I couldn't think of a better way of putting it than the Borg, well done. How long have we been waiting to know more about Richard Alpert? Three seasons? Four Seasons? Finally, oh finally, may we figure out why he and his eye liner never age.
It's Maybelline. Oddly enough there's a feature on the bonus disc of season 5 called "A Day in the Life of Richard Alpert". They actually have to lighten his eyelashes b/c they are so dark naturally. I'm calling this for sheer amusement, but if I'm right why not have it out there. Tonight episode title will be spoken by Jacob, in response to Richard's question as to how long his "gift" will last.
Unfortunately, the title is not "Ad Infinitum", but "Ab Aeterno", which means "since the beginning of time". Still, I think we've all been waiting for this episode since the first time we realised Richard looked exactly the same in the 70s as he did in the 00s.
Spoiler Well at least they are confirming our suspicions about him coming on the Black Rock. Canary Islands, 1867. Fits the timeline of the Black Rock. EDIT: Yup, now we've seen the shipwreck of the Black Rock and how that statue of Taweret got knocked down. I'm surprised it was so recent.
I was just watching 'Totally Lost' and they were talking about Smokey's "mommy issues". It occurred to me that perhaps the reason women can't get pregnant/have babies on the Island is directly because of Smokey. He doesn't want any other babies to grow up with crazy mothers, so, perhaps the only way to ensure that is no babies at all and he is the one responsible for all the miscarriages. The exceptions (Aaron being born there, Ji Yeon being conceived there) are possible because they are, perhaps, candidates? (I absolutely agree with everyone here who has suggested that Ji Yeon is the 'Kwon' candidate). So unbelievably hyped for tonight's episode. I even dreamed about it (I might be just a little obsessed with Richard).
VERY good, though I was expecting more of Richard's time on the Island as opposed to his journey there. I think the idea that the smoke monster did to Richard exactly what he did to Ben. Very interesting. HOLY FUCKING SHIT WE NOW KNOW WHAT THE PURPOSE OF THE ISLAND IS. And how many people do you think seriously shit their pants when they heard Richard say everyone was dead and the Island was hell? HA, awesome.
Question: Spoiler Anyone else notice that when the Black Rock was approaching the island (and crashing through the statue) that it was night, although in the season 5 finale we saw Jacob and MIB sitting down and watching what I can only assume to be the same ship approach during the day? Was it the same ship? I feel like I missed something... Other than that, great episode. The back-story really works well for Alpert's character, at least that's my take on it. It's refreshing to see some of the island's history that doesn't involve Locke or Faraday running around and fucking with the status quo. Not that I hated season 5 (I actually really enjoyed it), but I used to really like island flashback history moments that the show produced that didn't involve the 815'ers.
Removed the spoilers b/c it really wasn't one I just assumed that we saw a different ship in that scene with Jacob and MIB on the beach. According to Jacob, there have been and were many other people that came to the island. I can't remember if the statue was intact when Jacob and MIB were on the beach but either way, it was definitely some ship other than the Black Rock.
Someone I know, who I truly thought was intelligent, began immediately posting on Facebook about how he would never watch Lost again after tonight - that is was the biggest letdown ever, because the island was revealed to be Hell. I almost can't believe I had to explain to someone that the island isn't fucking Hell. But great, great episode. Everyone who has been bitching about the lack of answers...well, they'll probably just keep bitching.
Can anyone recap what Jacob said to Richard when they were in the rubble of the statue about MiB believing people were inherently bad and beyond redemption? Interesting concept that the island is more than a cork, but also a proving ground for the morality of humanity. "your past doesn't matter" obviously fits in very well with the promise of Sawyer, Hurly, and Jack vs. the failed redemption stories of Sayid and corruption of Claire.
