Yeah he certainly did, I stand quite corrected on that one. Though we never did see how or when he assumed leadership, since at the time of the Incident Eloise was in charge, unless they led as a couple.
I always assumed they led as a couple since they both needed to be off the island regularly to spawn/birth/raise their respective bastards. Plus, as far as power sharing goes it makes perfect sense. Eloise gets to handle all the supernatural Island business while Charles rides around on a horse and look "hostile" to the invaders. It's kind of like how Ben was the man behind the curtain but Zeke (Tom Friendly) was the point man for the "scary" Others.
I'm very excited for this next episode. I think it will pretty much tell us whether or not Hurley will be the Candidate and take over the role of Jacob.
Check this out it's pretty good............. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EofELGOcBg0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EofELGOcBg0</a>
Again, nothing but random thoughts: Holy Fuck. What did Jack see? His dad? Desmond is like everyone's constant now. The little boy is the evil that wants to leave the island.
OK, OK. I'm liking it. I find the whole explanation of the whispers somewhat unsatisfying, but I'm not sure what else they could have done other than not explain it at all. So it's good. Welcome back Elizabeth, I like how that worked. And I liked Desmond running down Locke at the end as a contrast to Locke throwing him down a well. And the coming attraction for next week's episode... holy shit that was awesome. Willy fucking Wonka, eh?
I always wondered why Desmond was so nonchalant when Sayid picked him up. I saw him getting pushed down that well, that was so obvious. Not sure what the point of that was, since I don't see how Desmond poses a threat to Locke. How many episodes left, 5?
I missed Jack "seeing" anything. When was this? I'm thinking he's a bit more like Jacob - giving everyone a little nudge in the right direction. MIB and Desmond saw the little brunette boy just before they went to the well, where MIB intimated that he was there, long ago, when the well was dug. The other little boy that MIB saw had blonde hair. My gut tells me that those apparitions are of the MIB and Jacob, respectively, when they were younger. I think MIB threw Desmond down the well because he now knows that Desmond is not affected by elecromagnetic radiation - which is what the Black Smoke is made out of. Jack said that he had learned to "let go", mirroring the flashback with his dad at the AA meeting where Christian implored Jack to "let it go". Also think Desmond creamed Locke with the car because Locke and Jack need to meet...when Jack repairs Locke's spine and Locke is able to walk again.
Very end. Jack looks into John Locke's eyes and gets a look of terror or amazement on his face. Or Maybe I imagined it
Didn't Locke say something about compasses not working at the spot where the well is? Maybe whatever power Desmond has, is neutralized by him being in that well. Locke said there are other wells too.
How about Libby knowing about the alternate reality's? What is this "love" theme they are jamming down our throats?? I was extraordinarily impressed that a Hugo episode was this good as well as informative. (I'm fine with the whisper explanation, but why did the others always follow the whispers? Do they the whispers announce danger?) The only real complaint I could have is that Sawyer and Kate seem to have almost "forced" lines. Does Sawyer really have to question Flocke at every turn? "Where did you go now.." "Where did you go this time?" Got kind of redundant. Asking once about Jin was all that was required, I guess the writers did notice how the main characters are barely in the last episodes. That being said I have real hope in how they end this, I think we will all be pleased and if Terry O'Quinn isn't at least nominated for an emmy than....well I'll do nothing but this board will hear of it!!! p.s. Mr Cluck's looks way better than KFC or Popeys. p.p.s With all that cash Hugo doesn't have to worry about "talking" to a girl he can just hire multiple hookers.
I'm not quite sure if this is the reason he did it, but I agree with the result. I think we're gonna see a season two parallel and Jack is gonna give his "I'm gonna fix you" speech to Locke, so Locke, like Sarah, will walk at his wedding, which will get Jack his invite to Locke's wedding, where I'm convinced the finale will take place.
I can't believe Ilana just ... wow. Not that I was terribly attached to her, but it seems such a random waste. I can't help but think of her flashback scenes, where she's almost unrecognizable under all the bandages. We still don't know how she got to be that way. She said she's been training her whole life? Has Jacob trained her to have superhuman qualities, like Richard? Perhaps the ability to regenerate? Has she been blown up before? I don't think we've seen the last of her, not when we know so little about her.
Random thought: Pierre Chang was at least 40-years-old in 1977. That would make him almost 70 in the flash-sideways. He sure as hell didn't look that old.
