I wonder if sideways world jack's neck is bleeding from an encounter with that fancy knife MiB used to kill his mother and Ben used to kill Jacob? Do you guys really think Ben has gone bad again or is he trying to trick MiB?
I noticed that too and immediately thought the same thing. His neck was bleeding like that too in the first episode of this season when they were on the plane and he first looked into the mirror. Definately think it has something to do with a knife fight with someone, not necessarily Smokey though because I don't think he can directly harm Jack. Maybe it will be Ben? I think Bens definately gone to the other side now. If it turns out that he was doing this just to get infiltrate Smokey's regime I could accept it but whats the point? Well, other than protecting himself and making sure he lives on which has always been Ben's game. Survival. I don't think Ben believes he will "get" the island when it's all over.
At the end of the episode MiB said he was going to destroy the island - so I'd hazard a guess at saying Ben knows he isn't going to get it now. I kind of found Ben's attitude weird. It didn't seem like a smooth transition from relatively normal to ' Lets kill everyone'. Maybe it was thinking of Alex that screwed with his head.
Did anyone else notice Hurley's comment about Ana Lucia, and Desmond quickly saying "she's not ready yet". Does this mean that Hurley (sideways timeline) has come to fully realize everything that is/has going on on the island. At first I thought it was only Libby, but now it seems like he knows about everything.
I gathered that. Desmond has clearly convinced Hurley that sideways world exists, otherwise he probably wouldn't have shown up with 125k to pick up fugitives. I'm thinking in the last episode Jack will be killed and Hurley will have to be the one who protects the island. It cleaned up too nice when Jack just accepted the role immediately. I really hope there is no "Locke trying to take his body back from MIB scene- If MIB is about to kill Kate and she says "I know the real John Locke is in there and he wouldn't do this" I really don't want to see any bullshit like that. I can't believe it's over. I really have to say I'm incredibly impressed with the network for not making us wait two weeks for the series finale, Iczo, El Tee, I expect a thorough analysis done by Monday afternoon. No exceptions.
Ack's ode to Lost, quite well done http://www.theackattack.net/?p=1906 Ben will betray Flocke in the end. It's the only way for Ben to redeem himself for getting played like a cheap fiddle during "The Incident". As to the rest, it's anybody's guess.
I really liked that campfire scene, especially Jacob's mannerisms and the way he laid it all out. I really liked his response to Kate when she asked why she had been crossed off especially when we had all been thinking that it was for a bad reason. Also when Jack said that he was to be the island guardian, that it was the reason he was there and Jacob responded with "Is that a question, Jack?" I can't really see Jack being the wise protector that Jacob has become, but Jacob was kind of a whiny little bitch when he first took on the job too. I will also agree with everyone else that Ben's sudden change of heart was pretty jarring, but I think it has to be that the death of his daughter came back full force just moments before. I wonder if after his beating in sideways world he will be redeemed in the end by his connection with Alex in that world. I agree with you that I would hate to see the scene play out like that, but it still bugs me that the real Locke died so long ago (even though we are still seeing him in sideways world). He had so much faith in the island and so much potential for redemption and then he got completely dicked over. EDIT: Double stop kind of beat me to it on that last point.
Did anyone else feel that using Anna Lucia was kind of a cheesy "throw in??" I'm depending on the experts here but I just don't see her character being a dirty cop? Sayid and Kate were being held for murder so she just let them go for 125k? I know she killed a man, but that guy also shot her and cost her the life of her unborn child, correct? I don't know, again it just played so clean. Maybe it was that deep down she somehow recognized Desmond? - 2 cents.
Anna Lucia always kind of came off, at least to me, as someone who would do something like that for the money. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but she never really knew Desmond, did she?
Well she did escort Christian to Australia for drunken family reunion time for cash, so it's not that far fetched. She never met Desmond, he ran off before the Tailies made the trek to the beach and she got capped before he came back on the Elizabeth.
Sure, a little. But I didn't mind it and actually wish they could have found a way to fit Mr. Eko and the Jesus Stick in as well. "LOST" certainly isn't handling the final-season shotgun blast of cameos as seamlessly as "The Wire" did, but to be fair they're doing it with dead characters in an alternate universe. Just get ready for expected appearances by Shannon and Juliet in the finale (and I will eat my hat if the latter is anyone BUT Jack's baby mama). I'll also admit that I judged "Across the Sea" a bit too harshly on first viewing, and feel slightly embarassed about it since it made the campfire scene with Jacob and the Losties much more meaningful. Although, I got extremely nervous when Jacob told Kate that even though her name was crossed out she was still eligible for the position of Island Protector, if she wanted it. I immediately tensed up, fearing she'd jump at the opportunity since the woman has a horrendous habit of doing exactly what you tell her not to. Crossing her name out on the cave wall would normally translate to a 100% chance she'd steal the cup and drink the magic wine without asking...just because. Thankfully, being the demi-god he is I'm guessing Jacob sensed that and let her know that it was a permissible option. That shut down Kate's destructive tendency for the split second it took Jack to speak up and accept the job, though I was at the edge of my seat until he actually swallowed because if there's one thing Men of Science and Men of Faith can both agree on it's that there's no plan in the world - Sideways or otherwise - that Kate Austen can't fuck up if she so desires. As for Ben's seeming change of heart? I'll buy it. The notion of walking over Alex's grave was a bit anvilicious but effective; it did help reinforce the idea that Ben Linus has nothing to live for now besides the island. His beef with Widmore was legit, so selling him out to Smokey was not only sensible but delightful to watch. I also bought the idea that he'd sell out the Candidates for a chance to reign as king shit over the island, and I think time will soon tell if Smokey's ultimate mistake was revealing to Ben that he's willing to destroy it. One more change of heart would be perfectly fine by me, since I'd like nothing more than Ben's lasting legacy in this series to be one of a shifty little opportunist looking out for himself.
I'm also assuming that Sideways Desmond knows who Sideways Ana Lucia is - and contacted her for this scheme of his - since she was probably also on Sideways Oceanic 815 and he probably senses that everyone on that plane has a connection to the Island...although at this point that's probably immaterial. (Am I right in stating that the only original Lostie that definitely didn't make the Sideways flight was Shannon?)
I'm pretty sure Libby wasn't on the flight either but that's just speculation. She was in the mental hospital so I doubt they let her go to Australia. Of course she's not from our "original" losties if you want to be technical about it. Tail section and all, we don't know if Ana-lucia or Eko were on it this time either. I definately agree with you here. I kinda liked Across the Sea when I first watched it but after it was over I was left more with the "thats it? really?" response. That episode was definately needed to make the campfire scene more important. It seems they held that episode off to the very end just to keep some mystery alive on why Jacob and MiB are the way they are. If they had shown that episode in say episode 5 or 6, we probably would've written it off after a few episodes and gotten back interested in the characters we've known for so long. Having them back to back like that helped to re-inforce the importance of these two characters that really weren't a big part of the show. This is such an accurate description of her and it's fucking sad. That girl could fuck up a wet dream. Constantly being told not to do something and then doing it. But then again, other than Sun, I can't see any other female making it to the end other than Kate. None of them had the skills she had and obviously she had the 2 alpha males on the island pining over her so they were watching out for her. I see your point there. I read somewhere else someone pointed out that Miles took the Walkie and went out into the jungle so maybe they had a bit of a plan? Just seems that after all the "redemption" he was given this season they took it away pretty quickly. I'm also curious as to what Miles heard when he walked over Alex's grave. All I think he said was "I don't think... " and then stopped. Wonder what she was telling him.
Agreed. I find it hard to believe that in the 150 years he's been on the island he never got seriously injured enough to make a normal person die. He just can't. Richard should be back for the last ep. If mother is right, destroying the light destroys all mankind. Since the island is destroyed in world_x, but man lives on, I think we can assume the sinking of the island did not put out the light. Kind of a square/rectangle thing. A square is always a rectangle, a rectangle isn't always a square. Destroying the light will destroy the island. Destroying the island won't necessarily destroy the light. 1. I'm guessing ti has something to do with having his ashes in the fire there. Or maybe he just willed it so. 2. Looks like it. 3. See above. 4. That's been one of the running theories since even before the sideways people started remembering their island lives. Agreed. And by that logic, Jin was the Kwon on the wall, since Sun was back home with the babeh. The injury on Jack's neck looks more like a scrape than a cut, this time around. I doubt it's the knife. But it's gotta be related to some kind of island world tussle, doesn't it? As for Ben... I get it. When he gave up Widmore, I was actually pretty happy and satisfied. Especially after Benny's line of "He doesn't get to save his daughter." Hell, I actually said out loud, "Fucking finally" when Locke killed fake Tina Fey. As to whether he really gives up the Losties, I would have said sure, until Locke ended the episode by saying he was going to destroy the island. Hurley is now fully aware of the Island reality. He said, "You didn't tell me Ana Lucia was gonna be here. Does she know?" She clearly didn't know him. To be fair, Jacob had ~2500 years to learn patience and stuff. I kept on thinking, "drink it already. Drink it. Hurry. If that fucking cups gets knocked out of his hand by something, I swear to god..." I'm very excited/sad for Sunday. But if they don't pay off the sideways world in a BIG fucking way, I'm going to be uber pissed at them wasting half the goddamned last season.
Come to think of it, now I get the impression they could have been a package deal. Clearly, unlike the others he spoke to last night Sun and Jin at least had each other, so maybe he envisioned a couple possibly running the island. Plus, if memory serves correctly when Kate(?) was asking Jacob if he was the reason the Kwons were dead his answer seemed to imply they were both Candidates. Ji Yeon might have disqualified Sun and not Jin (who hadn't met her yet) so there would have been no need to erase the name. Or, the writers just may have erred in making "alone" the the explicit reason.
There is some kind of show on from 6-8 (Central) that interviews the cast and recaps the show. The finale is on from 8-10:30.
I put this together as I rewatched the last episode: The benefit concert at Miles's father's museum will ge the "gathering" where everyone will show up together. Think about who will be there: Dr. Chang because it's his museum. Miles because he said he was going. Sawyer because he'll tag along with Miles, and try to play nice with Charlotte. Charlotte because she works at the museum. Faraday because he has a hard-on for Charlotte. Jack because his son will be playing piano there. Juliette because she is presumably Jack's baby mama. Claire because she's staying with Jack and has nothing better to do these days. Charlie because he has a hard-on for Claire and Desmond will bring them together. Desmond because he said he was going to the concert. Kate because she's Desmond's date. Hurley because... well, I may be making this up but didn't he leave the museum a big donation? Libby because she'll be Hurley's date. Sayid because he'll be Hurley's other date. I can't figure out how the others (Locke, Ben, etc.) will come to be there but i'm guessing this will all happen... for a reason.
This is a good thought, I like where you are going with that. I was thinking that we would see Jack perform Locke's surgery and that would be how Locke would be included into all of this, if its this benefit concert where everything comes to a head then there won't be time for Locke to have the surgery and recover. So I don't know how he will be brought into this, but I'm sure they've got something up their sleeve.
The second to last Ack recap EVER is up. Get it while it's hot... http://www.theackattack.net/?p=1950#more-1950
I'm sure some of you saw this on Kimmel last night, but I was literally crying I was laughing so hard.
