    Sugarland Texas has a new city statue. Not a statue of a Civil War soldier eating a baby while whipping a minority with an endangered animal. No, it's a statue of two girls taking a selfie:

    "She is the daughter of former Houston police officer Jaime Vera, a source told Heavy.com. Her father was fired by the police department in 2011 after a 13-year career that was clouded in controversy.

    Jaime Vera was suspended for 60 days in May 2008 for a “confrontation with his wife,” and signed a “Last Chance Agreement” that said he understood he’d be fired for committing even a minor infraction.

    But in August of that same year he was suspended again, this time for 15 days, for sexually harassing a female officer. The Observer reports he left his beat while on duty to harass her. He was not fired because the harassment had occurred before the May 2008 suspension, the Observer reported. Vera was eventually fired for trying to pay off mechanics to pass the inspection of his car."

    I'm not sure what the anger is about. When I go to Beaver Creek, Colorado there are statues of bears and elk and lots of things seen in the area. Isn't the artist just reflecting things you might see in the area, such as two girls taking a selfie? Or, a sunglasses dude playing guitar? People have a lot of excess energy to spend on outrage.

    My favourite statue is in a small town in Ontario called Wiarton, where the local groundhog, Wiarton Willie, is responsible for the Groundhog Day winter predictions. The town has erected a stone statue to their groundhog, titled Willie Emerging.
