Now that is the way to win a division. Shimmered, I truly hope the A's and Rangers can meet again for the American League Championship.
I wonder if shimmered cracks walnuts with her buttcheeks whenever she's mad. In other news, Safeco is finally bringing in their fences. I hope this means that right handed hitters can finally hit .300 at home now.
My God, that sound . . . . it's like the wailing of millions of tormented souls bunring in the fires of Hell! Or Shimmered screaming in frustration. Moneyball my ass.
So. Angry. I can stand losing when they play baseball, but that "hey let's all run around and beat ourselves" nonsense is fucking ridiculous.
Hamilton may have been a bit nonchalant on the flyball, but the Oakland Coloseum plays very difficult on high flyballs. The wind can swirl pretty hard around the field as it was today and the sun is very high, bright and normally not subdued by any clouds in the late summer, early fall. Kattaras misplayed a popup earlier in the game for the same reason Hamilton did. I have no doubt Washington will have the Rangers go deep into the playoffs. They have too much talent and he is too good of a manager.
Probably not, actually. What happened with Citi Field, when they moved the fences in, is that home runs went up, but singles/doubles/triples all decreased, relative to their performance on the road. So you might see a spike in power for Montero et al., but probably not a huge average spike. When all was said and done, the Yankees are in about as good of a position as they could have hoped for. Home field throughout the AL playoffs, they can line up their starters, and whomever they play will have burned their top starter. Fortunately for the O's/Rangers, neither one has a true ace that's so much better than the rest of the rotation. If the Tigers had to use Verlander in a play-in game, that would be a huge loss.
I've said before - Hamilton's talent is incredible. He's a once in a lifetime player, and God knows what he'd've accomplished if he hadn't been a crackhead. But I am SO. Tired. of listening to his excuses. I'm not talking about the injuries. I'm talking about excuses. The Jesus is mad at me, my eyes hurt, I'm drinking too much caffeine and chocolate crap. His nonsense about "every home run - that dollar amount goes up" and things of that nature? He's paying for it now. I just wish that whatever Jesus is mad at Josh about, He'd leave me out of it.
This is from a month or two ago, I think. It's the first time I've seen it, but it's pretty fitting. Makes me feel a little better about the 2011 ALCS
I'm confused. The Yankees were a division winner and the Orioles a WC, so why is the first game in Baltimore? The only way that makes sense is if the last three games are in NYC, which would be weird. What's going on?
The last three are in NYC. It's a new format designed to save travel costs. Some people (especially in Oakland) aren't thrilled about it.
it seems a bit silly. There's a lot to be said for starting a series at home. Regarding the Rangers - I'm still mulling what I hope happens. The worst part is me considering letting Elvis go.
Josh Hamilton is 31, with a history of addiction. And you want the Rangers to pony up a Prince Fielder deal for what, 3 or 4 years of production at most? Texas has a loaded farm system and the team is talented as it is without handcuffing itself to a high maintenance flake that's likely command $200 million in free agency. And this is all coming from a Mariners fan that would like nothing more than the above to happen.
Couldn't Nolan Ryan just split the cost of Dez Bryant's babysitter with Jerry Jones? They could then force them to live in a house together and film it. You'd get two clean and productive stars, or a huge revenue stream from the inevitable reality show "Dez and Josh take on Dallas."
I say - send him on his merry way. We will have a shitty year adjusting, then I think we will be just fine. Let someone else take on that albatross.
Where do you see him going? Obviously the Yankees are always in this sort of sweepstakes, and the Red Sox typically are. The Dodgers have basically said are willing to spending infinity dollars, but have a fair bit of outfield talent between Victorino, Kemp, Ethier, and Crawford (and no DH spot). The Cubs could certainly use him, as could the Giants.
I'm not sure. Anywhere someone is willing to pay that kind of money for a possible bust. He's going to give another MVP caliber year, where ever he goes. I've no doubt of that, and I'm comfortable with it, because after that - between his injuries and his drama, he'll be someone else's problem.
If I were the Rangers, I might be inclined to let Hamilton walk if he wants more than 3 or 4 years. Maybe to the Brewers/O's/Nats/another midmarket team looking to ascend to the next level. I'd also keep Andrus, because he's already an elite shortstop, and see what kind of massive haul I could get for Profar. Imo, Texas is smack dab in the middle of its window, and they're better off keeping the guaranteed talent than waiting for Profar to mature.
Profar's a better player, overall. Better power and better glove. And that says a LOT because Elvis is fucking amazing. Trade Elvis before free agency and get a solid pitcher and a couple of other pieces. Hurts me to say that because Elvis has been one of my top three players since he came into the organization - but Profar is magic on the field. And we need a fucking catcher.
