Wow...I have never seen a Yankee fan wearing fake World Series rings...that's a whole new level of douchebaggery.
Delay of the World Series because of network technical difficulties? That's a first. But then again, so was airing the LCS on some obscure fucking channel. I hope MLB is taking a good, long look at how FOX is handling their post season coverage.
I know you keep harping on this, but I don't know anyone besides you that has a cable or satellite package that doesn't include Fox Sports 1, if they have basic extended sports channels. Speed Channel had been around a LONG time, and Fox Sports 1 just took over their presence in the lineups.
Who knows? It's not part of Cox basic cable in the Las Vegas market, which is only 2 or so million folks. I do know I checked on a Saturday afternoon to see if the game was on FOX and they were running a juicer infomercial.
Dude. Get a receiver or CableCARD. It is part of every package that at least includes ESPN. If you have a receiver and you're still not getting FS1, then the people at the cable company are just fucking with you.
Boo hoo. In 2015, the Braves traded away: - Andrelton Simmons - Cameron Maybin - Johnny Gomes - Eric Young, Jr. - Chris Johnson - Alex Wood - Louis Avilan - Jim Johnson - Jose Peraza - Bronson Arroyo - Kelly Johnson - Juan Uribe - Aaron Kurcz - Cody Martin - Caleb Dirks - Garrett Fulenchek - Phil Gosselin - John Cornely - Alberto Collaspo - Eric Stults - Ian Thomas - Juan Jaime - Victor Reyes - Craig Kimbrel - BJ Upton - Josh Elander And, I doubt they're done yet. Yes, there are some no-names in there, but management is in full on "root for the laundry not the player" mode. And, they asked us season ticket holders to pay a deposit for 2017 for the new stadium, and the renewal for tickets to 2016 is due this week, and the new stadium will take me 30-40 minutes longer to get to. God, it's painful.
Rush: Your Braves turning over the team roster for 2016 is what the Oakland Athletics do every year. It is like Billy Beane is playing the most realistic Fantasy Baseball in the world with real players.
Well SOMEONE has to pay for all those uniforms with new names on the back. Maybe they should just slap them on with Velcro?
I did not see this coming. It makes no sense. Zack Greinke agrees on 6-year, $206 million deal with Arizona
I think they want to capitalize on Goldschmitt's success window. They need one more pitcher. They have a good defense, don't they? So, probably one more offensive piece, and they're serious NL contenders.
I am curious that MLB doesn't have anything to say about what the Braves are doing, since I think it's bad for baseball. Most teams (besides the Cubs) want to win a World Series, because it will make them more profitable - butts in the seats and merchandise. This works great for generating fan love for the team, too, passed on to others, rah rah, more fans, more people love baseball, more TV contracts, etc. What the Braves are doing is going to be very profitable for the Braves organization in the short term, but they have no interest in winning a World Series. And, don't need to for their model. But, it seems this would hurt MLB overall. The Braves will be marginal and duct taped together for 2016, and stadium attendance will get a little bump for "last year in Turner Field." Then, they'll probably sell out every game in 2017 because of the new stadium. They will have saved enough money last year and this to rent one splashy free agent, if needed. He won't help them actually win, but it'll be some window dressing. The Braves own ALL the development around the new stadium, so they will get revenue from the shops and restaurants. They'll limp along through 2018 with some of the young talent they were actually able to groom into MLB level, and Liberty Media will sell them to the highest bidder, making a ton of profit. All the while, season ticket holders like me, are asked to root, root, root for the laundry. I am not used to that and I hate it. Puffman, if that's really what Oakland does every year, I don't see how they have any fans.
