Dustin Ackley's sweet beard is going to the Yankees for a middling prospect and a guy with a 95 mph fastball that has a 50% chance of hitting a fan. Way to really make a move, Jack. Enjoy being a roving scout for the Marlins next year, you dipshit.
Meh. Who cares? Good riddance to a wasted #2 overall pick. There was no move they really could make to salvage the season. Maybe he should've called the Astros, offered them King Felix straight up for Correa, and just started the rebuild now.
Nope. As it turns out, the funnier part is that Flores was crying during the game. You know, because there's no crying in baseball. http://deadspin.com/wilmer-flores-cries-after-learning-hed-been-traded-sta-1720990537
The REALLY funny part was Terry Collins having no clue either that Flores might have been traded, or that he was crying on the field.
Keeping right in line with sucking, the M's just traded Mark Lowe to Toronto (Along with his 1.00 ERA with a 47/11 K/BB ratio in 36 innings) for 3 useless relievers. One is 19 and has a 5 something ERA in 2 years of Rookie ball. Another is 20 and has a near 5.00 ERA in 3 years of Rookie ball. The final piece is Rob Rasmussen, a 26 year old reliever who has pitched 12.1 innings in the bigs. Yeah, that makes a whole lot of fucking sense.
Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN Mets made the move they had to make in acquiring Yoenis Cespedes OF from #Tigers as first reported by @brucelevine #confirmed
I don't know if you've been watching lately, but the Mariners have a fucking logjam of just fucking quality pitching. I haven't seen a pitching staff this good since 2001
So I know that they are fighting for the 2nd wild card, but the Cubs are 10 games over .500 and have a chance to be the first team in MLB history with 4 rookies (Soler, Bryant, Russell, and Schwarber) getting 300 plate appearance and making the playoffs. I wanna say only one other team ('06 Indians?) finished above .500 What interesting to me is that there are fans/media who are upset that the Cubs didn't move one of them for a big piece. If you have that kind of core why do anything but add complementary pieces? Also, the rumor is that David Price is an offseason target and price is not an issue Next year is the year? Next year is the year!
I met with our rep this afternoon about seats at the new Braves stadium. I share season tickets with a group of guys, and we have front row seats down the third base line. Our per ticket average price is $38 now. We have the "opportunity" to put down a deposit to keep our seats when the Braves move in in 2017. The new average price is $73 dollars and it's for 83 games instead of 81. Basically double. Ouch. They had said they wouldn't do PSL's, so I guess they're making it up by just doubling the prices. At least I won't be paying for any playoff tickets for the next two years.
What is it they say about folks that keep trying the same thing and expecting a different result? From yesterday: Bottom of 9th Seattle 5 Colorado 3 Rodney relieved Beimel. (Uh-oh) LeMahieu walked. Paulsen doubled to deep center, LeMahieu scored Parker singled to right, Paulsen scored. M's lose in 11.
So I remembered the Pitt-LA game is ESPN's Sunday night game tonight. I tune in at the bottom of the 7th with it tied 5-5. Not twenty minutes later and still in the bottom of the 7th its now 12-5 with Pittsburgh leading. I really need to watch more Pirates games.
WooHoo! Hisashi Iwakuma just no-hit Baltimore. I need something to cheer about this year, I guess that was it.
I'm loving it. I've been to four games this year and it's a packed house every game. They seem unstoppable right now, let's hope they don't Toronto this season in the most Toronto way possible.
Pretty good catch. http://m.mlb.com/video/v361676983/m...grab-falls-in-crowd/?affiliateId=clubMEGAMENU
How are you liking Rodney Cubs' fans? Bottom 8 CHC 3 STL 2 Rodney relieved Richard. Piscotty doubled to deep center, Bourjos and Carpenter scored.
