,,,and there it is! Indians to acquire Andrew Miller from Yankees for prospects http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...ever-andrew-miller-new-york-yankees-prospects Wow.
Also Indians related...they and the Brewers have reached a deal for Lucroy. Now, Lucroy must waive his no trade clause. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/192755844/indians-get-andrew-miller-jonathan-lucroy/ EDIT: That didn't take long. Brewers' Jonathan Lucroy vetoes trade to Indians
Apparently it's about the Indians refusing to void Lucroy's 5 million-ish option for next season. Easy to see why he'd want that, he'd get easily 3-4 times that on the open market.
The M's jumped into the deadline dealing. They swapped 29 year old 6 year veteran pitcher Wade Miley to the O's for a pitching prospect. A 27 year old prospect who is 4-7 3.93 in AAA. Yay.
Well, the Cubs came back and won a doozy against the Mariners. What a game. There's something about them this year, they've back to finding ways to win after the mid-season hiccup stretch. Chapman adds a whole new dimension to the team, and if the starting pitching (looking at you Arrieta, last start notwithstanding) can pitch 6-7 solid innings and get to the back of the bullpen, they just may have a chance...
Rangers are going all in...Lucroy to the Rangers according to ESPN. No report as to what it cost the Rangers.
Ouch. But at least Lucroy is only something like $5M or so next year....he's quite the bargain salary-wise. EDIT: Did you mean they get to keep Maraza or they had to include him?
No kidding. Nova just went to the Pirates. They've gotten quite the haul of prospects the past couple of days. I don't like it, but I've got to give Cashman props.
Apparently the Steinbrenner family didn't want to do this at all and was fighting with Cashman until 2ish days ago about it. This had to be done, I'd much rather have My Beloved Yankees go into full rebuild then be a slightly above average borderline playoff team over and over again. With Sabbathia and Tex coming off the books this year and arod coming off the books next year, that's a good 75 million opening up. Also, are there really bandwagon Yankee fans at this point? I know there were back when we were winning shit but that seems like an eternity ago.
There are always bandwagon Yankees fans out there. Lurking. Waiting. They're just off the bandwagon right now because the Yankees suck this year. They'll be back screaming like rabid donkeys as soon as the Yankees put together a legitimate contender.
There are bandwagon fans for every team. You saw very few Red Sox fans outside of a 30 mile radius of Boston until they won the World Series. Now they're everywhere. The last two years I've been seeing Royals jerseys around here - in New Jersey. I'm embarrassed to admit that one of my best friends was a bandwagon Mets fan in '86. Teams win and the bandwagon fans come out of the woodwork. Happens all the time. edit: The bigger issue with the Yankees are the non-fans - corporate employees who get field level tickets from their employers, tourists who are at Yankee Stadium because that's what you do when you come to New York, people who go to the games just to say they went . . . .these are the people that have pushed the ticket prices through the roof.
