And Yasiel Puig pouts and refuses to travel with the team. I foresee someone getting a time out in Oklahoma City until 9/1 or so. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/17196363/yasiel-puig-not-los-angeles-dodgers-road-trip
Every successful team has the bandwagon fans, it just seems that the Yankee band wagoners are the most obnoxious.I actually feel bad for real Yankee fans that pay attention even when things aren't so great when they get lumped in with the bandwagon yahoos. EDIT: There's even a wiki how page on how to be a Yankee fan for the lazy band wagoner: http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-New-York-Yankees-Fan
Edwin Diaz is the goddamned truth. https://twitter.com/TNT_Mariners/status/760706757433917440 Asked #Mariners rookie Edwin Diaz if the save situation was everything he expected: "Yeah. I expected to get those three outs."
I've only seen a handful of M's games this year and it seems like Cishek has blown every single one. It 's been as bad as watching Rodney melt down game after game last year. When your closer has 6 losses and 6 blown saves and your team is 8 games out, it's pretty easy to point a finger as to why they're 8 games out.
Asked if the Yanks are going to release Arod, Joe Girardi answered verbatim: "I don't necessarily think so, no. I mean, no, I mean, we have, I mean, like I said, I mean, my plans are for him to be there tomorrow with us, I mean, I haven't, there have been discussions of that." Thanks for clearing that up Joe.
We're I the Yankees front office, I'd wait until he breaks to 700 home run mark, then have a private conversation about how much he's going to be used going forward(as in "not much at all") and let him decide how he wants to handle it. Maybe have some sort of public farewell at the end of the season or something like that.
He's starting tonight against the Red Sox. Now we'll see if he's legitimate or just a Wade Miley dump.
How the bloody hell does Texas keep winning? Also, Mark Teixeira is going to announce his retirement this afternoon. He'll retire when the season is over.
The Braves may actually just set some duck tape and baling wire out on the mound tomorrow. Mike Foltynewicz, who started five games in AAA earlier this year before being recalled to the majors, is the only pitcher in the starting rotation with more than five career MLB starts. http://m.braves.mlb.com/news/article/193679370/braves-still-searching-for-saturday-starter/
You know...if he didn't cost to much, I'd love to see the M's pick up Puig. I have a feeling if anyone could be a stabilizing influence on him it would be Cano and Cruz. At one point Puig had stated he wanted to be a player like Jeter, and Cano seems to be cast in the same mold as Jeter.
Angels designated Tim Lincecum for assignment. 10.58 ERA in 8 starts. Man, he just fell off the table. I guess at least he has big fat stacks of cash to comfort him
Harper went 0-3 with 3 strikeouts and was pulled from the game in the 6th tonight. He's now batting .233 for the season. More alarming...his SLG PCT since the AS game: .219 Either he's hurt or this slump has gotten into his head.
It probably is the end for Tim Lincecum. It is pretty hard to come back from hip problems, especially ones that are chronic and are not going to get any better. He will not make the Hall of Fame, but two Cy Young awards and three world series rings and enough cash in the bank to never have to work again should ease the pain.
FiveThirtyEight did a really good article about his struggles. It's worth a read. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-bryce-harper-has-gone-from-great-to-good/
I just read an article today about Andrew McCutchen which sited the same things about his decline this season.....exit velocity and launch angle. It's amazing what they track now.
Here it comes.... Yankees announce Sunday news conference with Alex Rodriguez http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...nnounce-sunday-news-conference-alex-rodriguez He's done.
Alex Rodriguez to play last game Friday, become adviser for Yanks So is this his retirement? So he becomes an "adviser" instead of actually retiring so he still gets the remainder of his contract? Lame.
Alex Rodriguez was going to get the remainder of his contract as long as he did not voluntarily retire. If he got injured or released he would get the remainder of what he is due on his guaranteed contract. This adviser role I think is the Yankees trying to get something for the 26 million dollars Rodriguez is due.
