I'm at Jays vs. Twins. Once again awesome seats behind plate of second deck, and we're getting our balls broke by Minnesota. Thank god for $13 beer.
The premiums are $18 for a 20 oz draft. If not the Blue Jays will go bankrupt. It's Rogers that's really doing the gouging. That company is money-grubbing evil that would make Disney proud. But JESUS CHRIST what an ending today . Uptown Jr. wins it on an inside-the-park little league homerun. In my years I've rarely seen the Dome go that batshit, and like always it was a packed house. Awesome day.
Meanwhile the M's get within spitting distance of the wild card and immediately start sucking and floundering. Oh well, I'm used to it. AND Gary Sanchez homered again. 21 games, 11 HR's. For Christ's sake throw him some breaking balls already, he can obviously hit the fastball.
WTF? The M's aren't out of it, they're supposedly battling for a wild card spot. Last night they used 1 reliever to pitch 1 2/3 innings. Today, down 3-1 in the 5th, they allow a reliever to go 3 innings giving up 10 hits, 3 walks, and 6 runs. I guess they're saving the other relievers for close games?
Hey Rush....did you see the Braves are thinking about signing Tebow? http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17454645/tim-tebow-generating-interest-atlanta-braves
Yeah, I saw that. He probably won't make the majors, but the Braves can still make some money from him. All teams aren't like this, but the Braves own all (I think, all) their minor league clubs. I know they own high A in Rome and AAA in Marietta, which are both in Georgia. They have a rookie team in Orlando and their other clubs are in the South where Tebow fans are. So, they could get a return on their investment, even if he doesn't make the big club.
Tebow signs with the Mets. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/m...s-why-amazins-tossed-a-hail-mary-to-tim-tebow
Sure, My Beloved Yankees are in the exact same spot for the third year in a row(long shot to make the playoffs, and even if they do nobody's scared), but at least it's mid-September and they have a better record than the Goddamned Cardinals....
Holy shit. Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/09/jose-fernandez-dies-in-boating-accident.html
This fucking sucks. I'm not a Marlins fan, ive only seen a few full games where he pitched, but dude was a STUD and every time you saw a clip or highlight of him online, he was having so much fun. Clearly a joy to be around. Brutal loss for baseball.
Exactly. He was one of those Nick Swisher-types who are both great at what they do and always have fun doing it, even on bad days. The Marlins were starting to become a big team again, this will just devastate them. And maybe motivate them. But Jesus, this kid was great he was a KID. 24 years old. Huge loss.

Tim Tebow hits home run off first pitch in first at-bat http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb...t-pitch-in-first-at-bat/ar-BBwJYMx?li=BBnba9I
It's not much, but it is something.... If, for example, the Mariners complete the sweep (Of the A's), either the Orioles or Blue Jays lose at least twice, and the Tigers lose at least once, then Seattle would at minimum get into a tiebreaker game (or games) for a Wild Card berth. I'm not holding my breath.
Mariners won. Baltimore won. Detroit won, Toronto lost. So that means Seattle has a 9.6% chance of playing this post season. Yay.
Good-bye, regular season! I closed down Turner Field with 50,000 of my closest friends yesterday. Good times. Good-bye, Ted. It was great watching Hank Aaron smile and come out to get home plate, even if he was walking with a cane. He's the best. It'll be great for the Braves, but the new stadium is going to SUCK for me. My tickets are TWICE the cost next year that they were last year, and since I live south of the City, it will take me another 30-45 minutes to get there. Ugh. We got a souvenir ticket with a little case of "game-used" dirt from Turner Field. (I saw security having to stop a guy trying to peel a sign off the wall as he was walking out. I asked another security guard if they had stopped people trying to take stuff, and she said somebody was trying to walk out with a seat.) But, the Braves won 20 of their last 30 games, Freddie Freeman hit .385 during the month of September, and Dansby Swanson is showing signs of being the real deal. We actually field a competitive team next year, if we get a couple pitching issues straightened out. I was also at the game Saturday, when the Braves were up on the Tigers, and Detroit loaded the bases, with no outs, with Cabrera due up. Chaz Roe struck him out, and then JD Martinez hit into an inning-ending double play, started on a nice diving stop by Swanson. The excitement of the crowd and enthusiasm from the players, including in their 1-0 win yesterday*, had that playoff feel again. It was nice. Here's hoping. The Braves winning those final two games knocked the Tigers out of playoff possibilities. But, there was a point yesterday, where Detroit was eliminated, but they would have still had to play the makeup game with Cleveland today, to determine final standings. How much would that have sucked, to have to go out there a play a meaningless game, for somebody else, an extra day after the season?
