They're the only ones with that kind of money. I think Harper should go look up how popular ARod was, right up until he jumped the M's ship for the biggest contract thrown his way. To play for a last place team at a salary that completely crippled them from being competitive. After that he was seen as a greedy, selfish asshole.
Well, before this season started, in like January / February, Harper mentioned he thought he could get a $400 million deal. The Nationals have him through the end of 2018. Considering Stanton got $325 million or whatever it was, if Harper has a 2017 and 2018 anywhere close to his 2015 numbers, I would say he most likely will get a $400 million deal. I think the only reason this came up, was the question of weather or not the Nationals would go ahead and offer him an extension. Which, of course, they won't.

It is good to see Panda at a normal weight. The test will be the regular season and the after game spread in the clubhouse. He has come to spring training before in shape, but he loves food.
Goddammit. I got my nephew and Evan Gattis Braves jersey for Christmas a couple years ago, and Atlanta traded him a month later. That same Christmas, my sister got me a Craig Kimbrel jersey, and the Braves traded him before the season started. Now, knowing that Dansby Swanson would be around awhile, I bought his jersey for someone a couple weeks ago. He just announced he's switching from #2 to #7. Motherfucker.
When it comes to sports jerseys, I go by the rule of "wait until they retire". Players rarely play their career with one team. I still chuckle when back in high school my fiend hastily bought an NHL game-grade fully decked-out Wayne Gretzky jersey. St. Louis Blues. That lasted what, four months?
I am so pumped right now. We get Carrasco, Salazar and Brantley back next year and added a huge bat with Encarnacion. I think Naquin has a small regressions, but will still play well. The rest of the central is in rebuild territory too. See you again next year Cubbies!!

That would be a clever move. He won't get in the HOF now because of his PED stuff, but if he plays this year, wouldn't they have to wait another 5 years? Maybe the stance will have softened by then.
I like this move: Mariners send three players to Rays for LHP Drew Smyly Smyly has a pretty big upside. I think with all their moves the M's are sitting pretty well set to make a run at the pennant,...especially if Mitch Haniger can hit anywhere what he did in AAA last year for AZ ( .341, 20 HR's)
I'm not nearly as knowledgeable on baseball, but everything I've read on the baseball blogosphere is saying the Mariners are turning into the Royals that won the World Series. Now, I'll be damned if I'm going to ride that hype train, but that's reassuring. Can't wait for this year to start. But then again, the Supersonics have been in the playoffs more recently than the Mariners, so...
Well I picked the Cubs last year, I'm picking the Mariners this year to win the Show. The Jays don't appear to be making ANY moves and may lose Saunders as well, who is Canadian and an all-star. Cleveland is stacked, and the Cubs have a clear shot to win the pennant again.
The biggest thing is they've stabilized their rotation and they've added some speed, which they desperately lacked. New SS Segura stole 33 last year and Dyson (Who they got from the Royals) swiped 30. They won't be such a station to station team anymore, so Cano, Seager, and Cruz are going to see a lot more fastballs.
