I've had breakups that have left me less emotionally confused than that fight. If ever there was a time for that dafuq did I just watch image, this would be it. An interesting way for a champion to go out. I'm fascinated to see what comes next for Mr Silva.
Can someone throw me a link to the backdoor of instrength? Had it saved on my old laptop but not on the new one.
<a class="postlink" href="http://saturn.phpwebhosting.com/~instrength/forum/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://saturn.phpwebhosting.com/~instre ... /index.php</a>
A little birdie told me that a Dec. 28 rematch is being talked about. If that happens, I'd bet all the money in the world on Silva taking it back.
Has anyone been watching Fight Master? Despite, or maybe because of, the relatively low level of competition, I've been finding it hugely compelling. It's the first reality tv show I've been captivated by, and I'm saddened to hear that its ratings have gone down the tube.
I dislike Diego Sanchez for his over the top proselytizing but that dude comes to fight. What a fantastic match. Then the main event with Dos Santos and Velazquez, I just marveled at the ability of Dos Santos to keep coming. I'm glad for Cain that the fight had a finish so that can be quelled. What now for Dos Santos? Great night of fights. Great card all around. Forgot to say that I forgot about Dodson. Who the fuck has knockout power at 125? That fucking guy. Fantastic!
Sitting on the deck watching UFC 175. Holy shit. Really wanted to see Struve fight, that sucks. But so far between Uriah Hall's win with a busted toe and Ronda Rousey winning by beating the fuck out of her opponent's head instead of an arm bar. Holy crap.
Yeah, my husband was watching last night and I lifted my head to watch the Rousey part. Glad I didn't blink. I'm not one of those that hates her because she seems bitchy - I don't think she really is. I get a kick out of her intense frowny expression when she goes into the fight and then she's beaming like a schoolgirl afterward. But it would be interesting to see who will eventually step up to beat her ass.
Yeah, I think she's one that will retire undefeated... I just don't see anyone even close to her in skill. Sure, anything can happen, but it'll take a serious fluke for someone to beat her, in my opinion. I really love that she doesn't give a fuck if people hate her... she's there to win the fight, not a popularity contest. She even said in the post-fight interview something along the lines of "yeah, thanks for liking me now, but I don't care, and we'll see if it lasts". Awesome.
I don't follow the sport closely enough to know who the up and comers are,,, but I haven't seen anyone that makes me turn my head and say wow. I guess that's what happens when your mommy wakes you up in the middle of the night doing armbars on your ass.
I feel like she does though, using Bad Reputation tips to the fact that its part of her act. I respect the hell out of her as a fighter, she's unreal, but I think she's socially awkward. She came off like a total poor sport after the Mischa Tate fight, which was the only time anyone has ever really hung in there or tested her. Its easy to be one way when you are steam rolling hoards of lesser fighters. I feel like if a male fighter was in a similar position and history like hers, people would think they were an obnoxious asshat. Just my opinion though.
Cyborg? Yeah, she's not in UFC and she tested positive for roids a couple years ago but she's the only woman I can think of. I read Carano mentioned but personally I think Cyborg has a better shot (and she might not even have a shot, she just seems like the logical opponent).
http://espn.go.com/mma/story/_/id/12783425/jon-jones-stripped-light-heavyweight-title-suspended-ufc I kind of think this is bullshit because he hasn't been convicted of a crime (despite it being very likely he will), but...shit.
I'm not an MMA fan, but even I know Jon Jones has been fucking up. You go to rehab for cocaine, then you're accused of felony hit and run? That's called a pattern of behavior. Maybe a loss of a job and potential jail time will convince him to stop acting like an asshole.
He broke the clearly defined rules that every fighter in the league has to abide by. I know the UFC took a lot of shit for trying to change some of those rules hours/days before his last fight, and it sure looked like they knew he tested positive so they modified the rules so he could fight, so maybe this is them realizing they fucked up and doing the right thing. Don't care if it's not a crime, if you sign up to play by a set of rules, then you play by those rules or pay the consequences.
I can get behind him being an asshole and needing some sort of punishment from UFC. I struggle with stripping him of the title because of his behavior problems, especially given the nature of UFC's colorful talent. Loads of these guys go to jail for outrageous shit. Maybe it's an over-extension of respect for the fighters, but he earned that belt in the ring and he should lose it there. There are a variety of ways this could have went that preserve his integrity as a competitor and champion. I don't really like Jones, but he's a dominant fighter and arguably the current face of the sport. Seeing him stripped for essentially political reasons is somehow disrespectful to what he achieved, even if it was necessary.
I would argue that Jones's shitheel behavior is way more disrespectful to the title then him being stripped of it.
