Yeah, Dana is saying it'll be business as usual for now. Scott Coker is still going to run Strikeforce as a separate entity.

So guys like Hendo, Daley and Fedor will fight out their contracts in Strikforce. The downside to this is no cross promotion super fights for now.

Hopefully, this acquisition will convince Mousasi to dedicate himself more seriously to MMA after his match against Kyle, and stop his attempts to make the Olympics in boxing, or whatever fantasy he is dreaming most recently.

Finally all the Shogun nut huggers can shut the hell up. That's the biggest domination of a current champ ever. The only thing that will stop Bones from holding the LHW title is getting too big to make weight.

    UFC 128

One of the best fight nights I've seen in a while.

The only thing that would have made it better, I'd say, was to have that Tito vs. Nog fight actually happen like it was supposed to. I can only imagine the beating Tito will take at the hands of Nog. I envision a Tito bobble head, with him being all bloody and swollen. Oh well, Fight Night 24 will have to do.

And Arctic nailed it. Jones went through Rua like shit through a goose. The stuff he was doing against the cage, that spinning back elbow to the face thing, damn. And I don't think I've ever seen anyone else use front kicks like Jones... they seem deadly. Shogun seemed to be fucked right from the first round but that knee to the ribs, followed by the left hook to the ribs, killed him. Never thought I'd see Shogun tap while standing against the cage.

I was also happy to see that when Evans and Jones were in the ring together, it was classy and not some bullshit WWE bullshit drama. That fight will be awesome... can't wait. I think Evans will do way better than Shogun did, and I'd actually call it a 50/50 on who's going to win.

What the hell happened to Sonnen? He couldn't make the fight because he's pleaded guilty to federal money laundering charges? Seriously?

The CroCop fight was pretty intense... that was a pretty solid knock out, but it was still amazing how fast he got back up. After seeing Fedor lose his last fight, and CroCop lose this one, it's like the old-school scary Eurobots are fading off into the distance.

It was also interesting to see Faber in the lower weight class... like Rogan said, he still looks like a gorilla.

    PRIDE is officially dead.

I almost want Silva to beat GSP now (assuming all goes well and the fight happens) just so there can be a Silva/Jones superfight. I can't go against GSP, but damn... Silva/Jones would be fucking crazy.

    Haven't watched the event yet (I know the outcomes), but here is what I wrote a couple of days ago;

"I have been a major Shogun fan since 2005, but I have bet a solid 5 units on Jones to win, even at the ridiculous listing of -170. (When is the last time the challenger has been such a heavy favorite?!)

As great as Shogun is in getting back up, I don't like how easily the likes of Arona and Machida (both excellent wrestlers, but not as good as Bones) got him down. However, neither of those had either the GnP or subs to take Shogun out from there, or the strength and athleticism to keep him there.

Bones does, and he will take it."

Anyways, I give Machida the best chance of beating Jones, at maybe 25%.

I was super pumped to hear that all future events will start an hour earlier, I always hated the fact that I would have to stay sober enough to drive home at 1AM if I went out*, or that people were ready to leave as soon as the fights were over instead of staying to party after the event.

I'd really like for them to start at 6 PM EST so I can still go out after the fights, it's hard to convince casual fans to give up their Saturday night to watch a sport they don't care much about, but it serves as a great thing to pre-game with. Fuck the west coasters.

*funny aside: lately I have just been staying stone cold sober when I'm driving, I find it hard not to drink whatever I have in my hand as fast as possible, and I had to put down at least 15 waters at the party I was at.

Also, I thought this promo video was pretty damn awesome:

It damn well needed to be, because the actual fight will be boring as hell.

Do you think there's a chance we'll see GSP try to stand and bang this time around? He clearly has a HEAVY advantage there, but I could see him playing conservatively for fear of being taken down.

I think GSP will use his jab and height advantage, and Jake Shields will continually shoot in and stall, stall, stall, especially in the four point position. If you're a strong wrestler in the UFC, you can, at the very least, survive against virtually anyone, thanks to the lack of knees to a downed opponent, among other rules.

Think about it; Diego Sanchez made it to the 5th round against BJ Penn with pure stalling. Why can't Jake Shields, whose wrestling, strength, grip, and BJJ is all so much better, manage to survive to a decision? Even if GSP puts him on his back, Shields can weather his GnP easily.

    Holy shit.

I'm a big fan of the HDNET Show Inside MMA, and try to watch it as regularly as I can.

Probably not a big deal to most, but I was blown away today when they actually showed video recaps for the last UFC and Jones' win. As in 10+ minutes of video footage.

UFC/Zuffa has never let them do that before, from what I've seen.

I'm so glad that the best recap show finally gets footage from the biggest fights.

It seems that they've finally accepted that Inside MMA is a good publicity venue for them, and not just competition due to HDNET Fights.

I thought the twister was an illegal submission hold because it was a spine crank but apparently it's just a neck crank.

How many illegal submissions are there though, really? Besides small joint manipulation, (so essentially, no toe holds and no finger-breaking...this last one would change the nature of MMA tremendously) isn't most everything else allowed?

Most everything is allowed under the unified rules including spine locks but as the example of a spine crank on wikipedia is the boston crab I doubt we will be seeing any spine cranks anytime soon.

How was that "twister" different than a spine crank? Looked like he was going to twist his fucking backbone to pieces.

I almost got sick watching it happen.

The primary pressure is on the cervical spine which makes it a neck crank.

    TUF 13 starts tonight.

Just created a new thread HERE.

Be warned, I'm eliminating the spoiler requirement on that thread, so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't look.

Just watching HD Net's United Glory World Series, round 2.

Never seen it before, but it's a compilation of kick boxing and MMA fights.

Just saw a guy get his arm broken by a high kick during a kick-boxing match.

    Ouch.

    Anyone else seen this series?
