Airplane! is on there now. Not sure how long its been on there, but if you need a decent laugh, it's got plenty.
Sure, that’s all well and good. But with even BETTER modern tech, we can now watch a polar bear fall on Tinker ANYWHERE in the world. Now bouncers can watch it and pumped up WHILE on the way to work. No more crowding around the VCR at Sluggo’s house before rolling up the t-shirt sleeves and heading down for the Friday shift at Club Doosh.
The Old Guard I thought the cast was solid, with one exception. I thought Harry Melling as the villain was pretty lame. I didnt think he was that great and his eyes are too close together. I am not familiar with the comic, and I liked the premise. The action was fun, the script was good. I thought the soundtrack was top notch. The score and song choices were well done. It's good. Lost Bullet Originally a French film, dubbed and brought to Netflix. I was pleasantly surprised. The lead is a French stunt man. This is his film. In addition to starring, he wrote it (adaptation credit). The dubs were really well done and not distracting at all. The action is tight and well shot. It's edited well, with no excess. I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed The Old Guard, my biggest problem was with Copley. There just wasn't enough context or investment in his character for me to feel like his actions were either justified, or that his redemption arc was complete. It all felt really surface-level, like: Spoiler "You betrayed us! We're all going to die because of you!" "But cancer exists!" "Oh. Okay, well, swipe your keycard at the bad guy's building and all is forgiven." If you disregard some of that nonsense, though, it's a fun action flick.
I agree that was a weakness. It's almost like they'd cast Harry Melling early, and the writers gave up, because he didn't bring enough gravitas to the role. I've never seen the Harry Potter movies, so I didn't know him, but I just realized that he is the no arms and legs guy from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Norsemen has a new season. If you haven't seen it, it's a Scandinavian comedy (in English) about Vikings around 1000 AD. The humor is kind of hard to describe, sort of like dry British humor, but it's undeniably hilarious. You also get to learn some interesting aspects of Viking culture that you probably didn't know about. Definitely give it a chance if you haven't already seen the first season.
Not at all. Only in setting. All the actors are Norwegian, but it’s in perfect English. They really captured the best of snappy UK humour, never forgetting the foreboding surroundings. It’s closer to “Erik The Viking” than “Vikings”. But funnier.
This one is a slow burn, but the payoff is worth it. I vaguely remember when this happened. It's not as continuously crazy as Tiger King, but a good distraction from the world right now. Or maybe a microcosm of where it's all headed, who knows.
The Night Clerk Murder mystery thing. A little different. And, Ana de Armas shows her boobs, so that's extra points.
So... Charlie fucking Kaufman wrote and directed a psychological horror movie. For Netflix. As a screenwriter, not a soul in the business has a more original and deranged mind than him. This has to be one of the most unsettling Movie trailers I’ve ever seen:
