    So what’s the return landing, a splash-down? I wouldn’t be too crazy about participating in the incredible common way Space-X sticks a landing.

    I don't think they've stated that yet. I suspect they will plan for the retro-rocket pad landing, but have the splash-down as a backup for weather or other unexpected issues.

    They're currently looking at a more traditional landing (parachute, water landing) for the personnel pods, so I would expect that they do that. They're also working on the giant ship net catcher. The only reason they're landing the boosters on their tails is so that they can re-use them without any water damage, etc.

    As to the orbit for the moon warp, it's basically throwing the module on a loop around the moon which then has it go around and then back into a re-entry orbit around the Earth... no boosters required, just small retro and alignment thrusters. It's kind of like a space boomerang.

    So it’s basically what John Glen did back in the day. They get the ultimate in scenic tours, I can’t imagine what a vide-grip that entire experience would be.

    Is this mission the debut of the CubeSat technology? I think they're supposed to make communications easier by a pretty big leap, and I am interested to see what advancements that leads to.

    It's not the debut, but they added two CubeSats to use as communication relays which was done a lot easier and more cheaply (they said their junior engineers did a lot of the work with mostly off the shelf components). It's definitely a validation of the concept's usefulness on even very advanced missions.

    Just watched the spacex falcon 9 rocket booster land itself on that floating pad in the sea and I will never stop being amazed at that.

    It’s even crazier how they land the Falcon Heavy boosters in perfect tandem as well. It’s like a Bugs Bunny cartoon landing but it’s real.

    A lot of guys at work had never heard of SpaceX and I showed them that double landing. They couldn’t believe it, That two high rise apartment buildings landed in perfectly-timed sync on a couple of floating docks.
