Another not-so-unique thing but still fun to see. I’ve been more into the night sky/stargazing since our move, with the light pollution being significantly lower here. I was surfing the net and found https://www.n2yo.com/ - satellite tracker site. I was able to go outside tonight and watch the ISS go right overhead. I don’t know if it was just the time of night here vs. the sun still setting on the west coast, but that fucker is BRIGHT.
It is impressively bright and if you don’t have a lot of background light, it’s pretty easy to see other satellites passing over. The iridium satellite flares were also bright but they ceased about 2 years ago.
I think there was an engine failure early on and they couldn't slow it enough for landing. I'd bet they knew it would do that as soon as the engine failure happened.
I watched the replay, and it's funny to see the smoldering wreckage on the pad and have them say "incredible job, Team! Nice work." and then the graphic label.

Anybody get any pictures of The Great Conjunction? This one that Tom Kierein posted on Twitter is pretty cool.
My picture was a small dot with an even smaller kind-of dot. But this meteorologist in SC got a great one. https://mobile.twitter.com/edpiotrowski
I couldn't see shit thanks to the cloud cover. Happens every time there's something cool going on in the night sky.
To be fair I totally missed the time window but it was overcast and gray all day here too. When I went outside to peek at the skies later, very few stars were visible so it's likely I wouldn't have been able to see much anyhow.
Same thing, here. You could see a few stars standing out in the sky, but they could have been anything. Every goddam time.
They're still pretty close together, just not as close as last night. So if you have clear skies, they're gonna be visible for a little while.
