I don't think those are proof enough that he knows. He could have been bewildered by the zoo experience. And what he said to the Pinkertons was when he was already transforming - his regular consciousness could have already gone into fugue at that point. I mean, I think it is open to interpretation. It could be very well he knows. I just don't think it is obvious yet, and with my view of the character I prefer to think he doesn't know.
So I'm arguing with a gay friend of mine who insists that the sex scene with Dorian and Ethan was very explicit. I've only watched the show On Demand and it is just kissing, shirt unbuttoning, and that is it. Is he just remembering a dream where he wished he'd seen all that, or is there another version of the show out there with the scene included?
I remember them getting nude and about to slam each other's shorts, but no actual Bomp-chicka-Bomp-bomp. Garnett gets A+ for going FAR above his acting range in this show. He's sold me as a good actor now, especially when Billie died last season.
Okay Im sorry, but was the last two minutes of that episode not the most fucked up thing you've seen, and I mean ever? Tell me I did not just watch a baby get its heart cut out then and sewn into a voodoo doll. That really just fucking happened. No, I didn't imagine it, she fucking did it. HO. LEE. SHIT. Suck on that, prime time pussy-TV.
And it wasn't enough to watch that whole thing play out, we were also subjected to numerous views of ventriloquist dolls - which to me is much higher on the creepy scale than clowns.
Here's a plot hole: if these witches are so terrifying and badass, why did Vanessa not freak out during the séance last year? When they all sat around the table and the "medium" came in, it was the lead witch. How come Vanessa didn't bat an eye or suspect something was up? Or, you know, run from the room cutting her wrist for blood to draw a scorpion?
Oh, I suppose there could be multiple explanations. She probably never got a good look at the lead witch and so wouldn't have known her on sight. And maybe when they were at the seance, the witch had been instructed to keep a low profile because the Master was using Mina to draw Vanessa in.
Lady Cali/Mrs. Poole never truly shows herself to Vanessa in the flashback. If you watch it again, you'll see how she sort of hides in the shadows whenever in her presence. I guess that was the "flashback episode" for this season, but the one from last season is still my favourite episode of this series. So far.
Whelp, that episode had about as much graphic fuckin' as any network produced show I've seen. Spanning across ages and genders, too. I'm kinda glad that Eva Green/Josh Hartnett just passed in the hallway...I don't get a great deal of chemistry from them. Which is odd, given how beautiful they're portraying their characters. Also that scene he had with the Scotland Yard detective was great cat-and-mouse.
That guy who plays Dorian is a bar-none FEARLESS actor. Good god they find new ways every second episode to not hold back whatsoever. I don't like what they're doing with Malcolm. He and Victor are my favourite characters, and after Tim Dalton was so intense, transforming and incredible in season one he's now strictly a supporting character being used as a marionette. I hope they snap him out of it soon. Eva Green is so incredible on this show. My body actually aches watching the horror and anguish her character is constantly under, she sells it so well it's insane. And yes, this is also Hartnett's best work to date, he's never shown better range as an actor. How is this show not more popular? Fuck everybody.
I actually thought Vanessa and Ethan were going to be put together last season when she did his cards and one of them was the Lovers. But then he and Brona got together and I didn't think anything more about it. I guess maybe that's the end game after all? I see lots of chemistry between them, and his tenderness with her (similar to with Brona) is such a turn on. I thought it was great that they didn't boink last episode because I want to enjoy the slow burn. Plus also the tiny factor of her flipping out whenever she has sex. I guess that needs to be resolved. I hope it doesn't turn out that Lupus Dei's sperm is a cure or something. I thought it was interesting that Vanessa didn't recognize Brona, although not surprising - she looks very different and Vanessa had only met her the one time.
I felt like Victor is playing russian roulette taking her out in public, like there's no chance they would ever run into Ethan.
Shit will hit the fan all at once. When Ethan finally put The Moves on Venessa, Brona/Lily will walk in and Ethan will take ten seconds putting two and two together before he wants to kill Victor. Victor Loves Brona, Ethan loved Brona, Brona loved Ethan, they both fucked Dorian, who along with Ethan, the unknown fallen angel AND The Creation have the hots for Vanessa. Oh, Victor killed Brona (mercifully) and resurrected her unbeknownst to Ethan. And is now in a love triangle with a psychopathic undead emo that never shuts up. How could this not end well?
Me neither. They are definitely not using Dalton to his full potential here. I hope it's a build up to a huge payoff, otherwise I will be disappointed.
That was a great episode. Finally Venessa is onto Ms. Poole, the blood rain was awesome. I love how thinly-veiled Dorian's joy is about Lily. He KNOWS she's dead. Remember the best line of the series: "I've never fucked a dying creature before." He's an omnisexual and now she's something else entirely. Awesome. You don't get shit like this on CBS. Jesus, Timothy Dalton is Bond all over again. That guy is in his mid-late 60's I think, he looks 25 years younger. I fucking died at his comment about throwing out the rug his wife killed herself on. Still, I want toughguy Malcolm back.
Wow, you're right about Dorian. I wasn't sure if he recognized her or if he really couldn't figure out where he'd seen her before. But the other lifetime thing I guess is a giveaway now that you've pointed out he knows she is dead. No wonder he couldn't get enough of her. Poor Angelique. In related news, I thought for sure it would be Clare throwing the jealous hissy when he finds out about Lily and Victor. Instead it is Victor acting like a whiny git. I wonderered if that was his natural tendency or if the witchy vibes in the room was causing emotions to amp up. It would be funny if Lily gets pissed about Victor's attitude and turns to Clare.
"I'm sorry, I cannot escort you to the ball. That's the night I morph into a wolf and I'm afraid I can't reschedule."
So, if the Devil is scared of the wolf as the writings would seem to indicate, I wonder why the master hasn't had the witches do something about Ethan? Or why they don't seem concerned that Ethan and Vanessa are in the same house together. Also, they made a Vanessa doll, but don't seem to be actively using it like they are with the Malcom doll. Unless they were the ones that influenced Vanessa to push away Ethan - although I am more inclined to think that was her own fear of what happens when she experiences passion. The waxworks scene with Dorian and Lily did not go how I thought it would - I was convinced she was going to see the slaughter scene from the Inn and realize it looked familiar. Also, that was quite a twist with her doing the fuck em and kill em thing. Is it just a byproduct of being brought back to life? Would Proteus have turned dark if he had lived longer? Although, with the exception of killing Proteus, Clare isn't really violent that I recall. In fact, he's generally very gentle when he isn't being a whiny git to Victor.
