Do we have an alcohol review thread? There seems to be new alcohols coming out at a rate we haven't seen since prohibition. I just received Adam Carolla's Mangria, going to chill it for a little bit then try it out. Ordered it like two weeks ago, took awhile but its here.

There IS an thread simply titled The Alcohol Thread. It hasn't been used in a few month, but I think it's a permanent thread.

Did you guys know who owns Crystal Head Vodka?

Did you also know that Clancy Brown does the voice of Mr. Crab on Spongebob? That's fucked up.

So TiB, I need some scotch recommendations.

Every year I bring a new scotch to our Christmas party for everyone to try, but I don't really drink it much outside of that one occasion. Two years back I got Highland Park 15 year (tasted and felt like drinking campfire) and last year I brought Glenlivet 12 (well received by everyone). I'm guessing that HP was more for the distinguished palate, and so was too intense for us beginners.

    Hit me.

I look forward to hearing about this. I'm strongly considering ordering some but don't want to waste my money on swill.

Do you know the different regions of Scotland scotch comes from? And what price range are you looking at? Typically, Islay scotches are going to be smokey and peaty, which it seems you didn't enjoy. They can definitely be an acquired taste. Glenlivet is a Speyside scotch. Glenfiddich is a decent beginner scotch in my opinion, nothing too overpowering and some decent flavor. If you want to try something a big different, you can get a cask strength scotch, like A'bunadh (made by Aberlour). You can add a little water to take away some of the burn and open up the flavor if you like. A reason adding an ice cube to a glass of scotch can be interesting is that as it melts, you can get some more flavor as the water opens it up.

I love when my facebook feed proves to be mildly amusing.

I sort of want to start an Old Man Facebook meme.

That could work... one of my favourites is "technologically impaired duck," which is a painfully accurate depiction of my mom's computer skills.

God damn it. I saw CR's post and thought "Whew, I didn't make it into that one." I'm going to crack open the Mangria tomorrow. I wanted a second opinion on it since I'm hoping its good to drop 100+ on a 6 case for Christmas gifts. I still can't believe the bottle itself was 15, and shipping to Chicago was 17. Shit ended up being $35 for one bottle. Then again, I've spent money on WAY dumber shit so whatever.

reading insurance crap is making my eyes cross.
Have an appointment with a sawbones tomorrow to (hopefully) get on the road to getting this shoulder fixed. I yearn for the day I can put weight overhead and not wince.

During this mod-free reign of terror the spambots are delivering, I have learned two things:

    a) I always saw those spam emails or links and thought, "Why do they do this? Stupid. Nobody clicks on those things." Then I saw the Suggestions Forum where "Cheap Ugg Boots" got 4 views and "Patrick Chung Elite Jersey" got 10 views. Ooooookay.

    2) Hotloyaddywax! is my new favorite excitement expression / substitute expletive. It's hilarious, because nobody that hears me say it knows what the heck I'm talking about or where it came from. I'm hoping it sweeps the nation and replaces Sweet Fancy Moses.

I think I witnessed an online date yesterday at the mall. I was in the food court grabbing a coffee and there was a couple at a table behind me.

Her: "I feel like I've known you forever. Can you believe we've only been chatting for three weeks?"
Him: "I was worried you weren't going to look like your picture."
    Her: "And do I?"
Him: "Well, if you hadn't already told me your age, I'd have thought you were ten years older... er... not that you look old... it's just... uh..."
    Her: "..."

Is this what dating has become?
