INFP - "The Idealist" High capacity for caring. Emotional face to the world. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 4.4% of total population. Careers: Artist, Graphic Designer, Writer, Translator, Fashion Designer, Organizational Psychologist, Career Coach, Public Relations Specialist, Librarian, Social Scientist, Religious Educator, Clinical Psychologist, Counselor, Public Health Educator Hmmm...maybe fitting. I feel like half of the time I am a pseudo-shrink at work. I've been an INFP for the last 10 years. Kind of surprising that I have the same result every single time I take the MB test. I think that I'm very introspective in that I enjoy my alone time. After school/work I want some time to decompress before going out with friends. I've always been outgoing at school or work because there's a task at hand, and I feel confident in my skills. I enjoy getting to know patients and clients, but I'm a very private person and don't like talking about myself to people outside of my very close social circle. The majority of the time, I use humor to keep things pretty light and prefer to ask people about themselves over talking about MEEEEEE.
Another ISTJ over here. The only thing I am intuitive about is when I'm unwanted (pretty much always, which I'm OK with because I know I am irritating a lot of the time, so I try not to inflict myself on others). Loving the descriptions, too: That site doesn't have many nice things to say about ISTJ's, does it? Wow. I think it's actually shoehorned me into this category because I said I did like strange things* and that I was weird. Fun times. *I'm a Monty Python fan. Doesn't that count for anything?! That show was about as weird as it could get on tv...

This is me, all of it: And the bolded careers are rather inspiring...
INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population. Fuck yeah. Favored careers: dictator, librarian, neurosurgeon, paleontologist, fighter pilot, astronomer, professor of philosophy. They left out vagina-smashing clit commander. Moral of the story: if it were not for the crippling social awkwardness, I would apparently be a superhero.
Did anyone else read the first line of Tuffman's essay and immediately want to say "still Snoop Dogg and D.R.E?" Here are my results: Spoiler Introverted (I) 52.94% Extroverted (E) 47.06% Intuitive (N) 52.78% Sensing (S) 47.22% Thinking (T) 80.65% Feeling (F) 19.35% Judging (J) 58.97% Perceiving (P) 41.03% Your type is: INTJ INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population. Not really much of a surprise. I don't think I'm naturally like this. A lot more of it has to do with my studies, academic and personal.
I meant to add these links sooner. The first one is a really good TED talk by Susan Cain about introverts which is very enlightening. She brings up a lot of good points that society in general should keep in mind. The next link is to the first article I read for the paper called caring for your introvert. It was apparently very well received and they did two follow up articles because of the response. This one is an article from Psychology Today written by a psychologist who is not only an introvert, but specializes in introverts in her practice.
INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population. Careers include: scientist, dictator, forensic anthropologist, systems analyst, philosopher, nuclear engineer, researcher, statistician, scholar...OK I get it, evidently we INTJ's should be quarantined away from other humans. All of it is amusing since I'm a nurse, pretty much the polar opposite of what you'd expect. Considering most of my colleagues are more of the perky/smiley/OMG you guys! type, I stick out like a coffee stain on a white shirt. I've just had to basically force/teach myself to be more comfortable with people over the years and it hasn't been easy. I get flak for my lack of small talk and chattiness all the time (considering I work in a field that's around 94% women) but I make it clear that it's nothing personal. I just don't talk to someone simply because they're in proximity to me. I really enjoy talking to patients about their treatment, history, anything medical in nature, etc. but a coworker wants to ramble about their five year old's little league team? Pass. I have medication interactions I'd rather look up.
The first few times I took the MB test I was an ENFP but apparently I've crossed into ESFP territory. I think I'm also less extroverted than I was in high school. Extroverted (E) 63.64% Introverted (I) 36.36% Sensing (S) 51.28% Intuitive (N) 48.72% Feeling (F) 55.56% Thinking (T) 44.44% Perceiving (P) 60.61% Judging (J) 39.39% ESFP - "Entertainer". Radiates attractive warmth and optimism. Smooth, witty, charming, clever. Fun to be with. Very generous. 8.5% of the total population. I don't feel like the entertainer is a very accurate description of who I am, but maybe I'm more charming than I realized? I think it's difficult because on the extrovert scale, there seems to be an assumption that extrovert=attention whore. I love interacting with people, but I'm not that comfortable being the center of attention, and I don't feel like I spend a lot of time putting on a show. I'm the entertainer in the make dinner, invite friends over and pour the wine kind of way.

Strong drive and enjoyment to help others. Complex personality. 1.5% of total population. Complexity, mother fuckers. I am a many layered onion. 1.5% huh? Fantastic. As if I didn't feel so alone as it is. I'm lumped in with those neck beards stuffed in a basement gluing pubic hair to a sex doll they nicknamed "Mom." I have always been a loner with some modicum of social skill. I can hold a real conversation, honest. Easy to make friends, not a complete retard in social settings, women occasionally like me, without money even. But there's always a part of me that could hole up in a dark room for 3 weeks without talking to a single soul.Give me a book, a chunk of pig, and some bourbon. I'll be fine. It's beginning to get to me a little. As I get older, the less and less I feel like I need other people around. Before I liked a good party, the interaction, etc. Now, especially after reading an article on the subject, I feel like I'm losing touch with that social side the more I isolate myself. Which is worrisome. I'm weird enough as it is.

I would definitely be a shitty florist, too, so maybe there's something to this test. I would guess I used to test more evenly between extroverted and introverted. I have become more outgoing with age.

I agree almost completely with what the descriptions say.
In most situations, I'm extremely introverted. I spend more time listening than talking. I try to involve myself in conversations as much as possible, but I find it exhausting. Strangely enough, this is not the case when I am teaching. I am the weird teacher who moves all around the room and talks the kids' ears off. Maybe it's because I enjoy the subject I teach, but I can talk about a books, writing, and grammar for hours. I'm good at explaining the subject matter in a way that 14 year-old kids can understand. This has nothing to do with my training as a teacher. They can't teach the ability to think on your feet in school.
I've taken the Myers-Briggs twice, once in a team-oriented college class and once in my company's project management training, both for the purpose of pigeonholing the group in a dubious effort to better understand team dynamics. (The latter occurrence also included eight hours of training on personality types; I'm not sure that was the best use of a plane ticket, hotel room, and a day's salary charged to an A/E/P company's overhead, but I don't have a masters in human resources so what the hell do I know.) I scored as INTP both times, being apparently the black sheep in a flock of ISTJs. I bristle somewhat at the introvert label, as the preference between E and I was nearly equal and I don't feel the test accounts for aversion to social interaction based on general misanthropy rather than bashfulness. Guilty as charged for the function and lifestyle, though our HR manager made these qualities out to be a handicap in the business world. This is typism and I will not stand for it! Never was a big fan of the MBTI and its absolutist dichotomies, but I must admit it is entertaining to defy social expectations, as if it's completely unfathomable that a supposed introvert, an engineer no less, can do anything except stare at their shoes and mumble their way through a conversation.

A couple of more links for my fellow INFJs. The more I learn about my type, the more my whole life makes complete sense and the less alone I feel, something I never thought would be possible. Truly amazing. This link is to one of the most accurate descriptions of myself and how I look at the world. I could have written this myself as a guide for my wife. This link is to a private forum for INFJs that is e-mail based only. Not just INFJs but everyone is welcome. We are generally pretty deep, so I would imagine there are a lot of interesting discussions going on. The website itself also has a lot of useful info on INFJs.

Action! When present, things begin to happen. Fiercely competitive.Entrepreneur. Often uses shock effectto getattention. Negotiator par excellence. 4.3% of total population. Ratio of extroverted to introverted seems about right. I don't think I am as competitive as it states but definitely demanding of action and progress. I've also become more extroverted and far less empathetic with age. Used to be more emotional decision maker, then a few decision science and behavioral economics courses in grad school nixed that.
Likewise. According to that site, there's relatively few of us, yet I get the feeling there's a disproportionally large contingents of ESTP's here. Well, on this thread at least.
