Rant: Took a tight corner on the highway that has a warning to slow to 40kph at speed(100kph) just as a cop appeared on the other side. Pulled me over, didn't get me for speeding because technically it was only a warning to slow, but somehow i had forgotten to renew my insurance 14 months ago. And he got me for now snow tires on the highway, hasn't started snowing yet, so i haven't put them on but it is the law. So there goes a 700 dollar ticket.

Rant: love receiving a wedding invitation to my siblings wedding in Alabama literally a month before the wedding date, via text. Like, am I on the hook for upending my life and paying out the ass for airfair for a few day's trip? Our family is just now recovering from almost 15months unemployment. I don't particularly get along with my brother and we don't speak or text. I've seen him a few minutes each time I flew out to visit the last couple years. But I'll be the one damaging things if I don't show, I'm sure. But it's your brother! All my petty feelings are surfacing right now and it makes me feel like the shittiest human alive.

Don’t feel that way. I have a complicated relationship with my sister and others in my family. Don’t let them put it all on you. Relationships go both ways. If you’re always the one compromising that’s not a relationship, that’s people taking advantage of you.

    Rant:

Me: walking a bouncing full of energy Zuri and vocal Alfie into doggy daycare.

Random woman who just dropped off her two well behaved dogs: ARE THESE THE TWO DOG I SEE ON MY WALKS!?!

Me: Please don't approach my dogs.

Random: I DON'T MIND IF SHE JUMPS UP ON MEEE!!!!

Me: I don't care if you don't mind if my 75lbs puppy jumps on you. I do and I am trying to break that behavior. Don't approach my dog means DON'T APPROACH MY FUCKING DOG!

What frustrates me the most is that her dogs were well behaved...how is she that clueless with someone else's dogs?

It's been a hot minute so here's a dump of life.

Rant: Old man came to visit and proceeded to call me a cunt, tell me I've been an arsehole most of my life and a bunch of other shit you can't come back from. Fuck him and the poisonous shit he spews.

Rave: Booked tickets to the Maldives for an eight-day live-aboard dive trip.

Rant: I wrote my car off on the way home from work.

Rant: The day after the car one of my cats rolled in something and the other one tried to kill her because of non-recognition aggression. That went on for a few months but they're all good now.

Rant: Online dating is a dumpster fire and I'm a social muppet.

    Rave:
I bought a house with a friend and it settles in two weeks.

That's pretty much it, coming out the other side of the metaphorical shit storm now so I'll crawl back into the wilderness for some canyons and avoiding people.

RANT: Woke up to news that my cousin's husband's fight with colon cancer has taken a turn for the worse. They removed his colon about 6 weeks ago and started chemo for the parts they couldn't remove. Latest tests show the chemo isn't working and the cancer has spread so they stopped chemo and he's at home in hospice. He's late 40's and they have two boys aged 9 and 11. Happy fucking Thanksgiving.
If you're 45 or older, get the god damn colonoscopy done. Fuck.

He passed this morning. Whole thing from start to finish was about five months. I wasn't thinking correctly when I said his surgery was 6 weeks ago. He went in for surgery in late July.

Rave: Proud dad rave. My little guy(8 years old) just got his black belt in taekwondo. Most the time kids are in the 11-14 range when they get it. WTF(world taekwondo federation) are changing how they license their masters, the local master has been teaching since 82, but now they are going to require you to travel get a license every year, even his grand master isn't going to be qualified under there new rules. He is to old to worry about keeping up with all the new licenses, but the new rules come into effect in the new year. So he told a few of the kids that he would test them for their black belt even thou they had a few belts to go. The group of kids took private lessons all summer(master takes the summers off), been going to almost double the amount of classes he would normally go to. He tested for 3 belts worth a week ago, and just received the black belt last night.

RAVE: After almost 5 years, I have finally organized the crap in my garage well enough that I can actually fit my car in it. It's an insanely tight fit (the Cayenne is kind of a big car), but it fits with about 2 inches to spare. Seeing as we're getting dumped on with snow this week, seems like a major win for the winter. I'll take it.

Rave: getting a new(er) (to me) 4x4 work truck hopefully by the new year. I expressed concern to the prez about the truck's condition and rear wheel drive considering the places I go regularly for work and kinda got blown off last month. I told my manager that it was becoming a deal breaker and I'm not sure if she expressed that exactly to him, but... New truck incoming.

Sorry, I'm not dying in a snow pile with my kid in the back seat for $15/hr.

    Win for me!

Rave. 7.0 earthquake in Northern California today that scared the hell out of my son who lives up there. He does not live on the coast and other than living through his first good shaking experience, he is fine.

Rant: Cleared my cache, forgot my password, and was locked out of the board. After trying several ways to get back on and none working, I made my way through the five stages of grief and thought maybe I should just walk away from this place. After an embarrassing amount of inner discussion I decided to try again. Essentially, over the last several years I’ve experienced the dissolution of several communities that were a part of my life (e.g., COVID, deaths and folks retiring or moving away have gutted my bar of my drinking buddies; COVID, work from home and retirement have gutted my group of work friends, etc) and I decided to try to hold on to this little corner of my world. You guys make me laugh and I appreciate you. Thanks to a board member for helping me out.

Rave: Paid off the mortgage recently. One step closer to at least semi retirement.

Rave: A friend of mine is now VP of sales for a cannabis company. Over the years he’s been the head of sales for a variety of liquor and wine brands, and I drank enormous amounts of high quality free booze thanks to his generosity. Free samples of his new products are on the way.

RAVE: Been busting my ass at the "new to us" house and Jan-Mar is crunch time for the Wifey's clients so we'll be spending the week of NYE with this view. It is the northern CA coast so we might get views like that, or it could be raining/drizzling the whole week. Either way, logs will be burnt, wine will be drunk, good food will be made and poon will be slayed.
