Rant: I hate hearing people eat, especially outside of a restaurant or cafeteria. I understand that some mornings we have 4 hours of straight lecture and people get hungry. But, holy cow! A girl behind me snacks the better part of the morning. Throughout a lecture I'll hear the crinkling of a wrapper/plastic baggie and crunching, chewing, lip smacking and munching of trail mix or chips. 10-15 minutes? OK. That doesn't really bother me. Everyone needs a snack. When it's hitting 30 min of non-stop snack time, it's a little distracting. I'm trying to pay attention and actually learn something while attempting to tune out a symphony of eating noises. This girl whines all the time about her struggles with weight loss, but um, maybe this is part of the reason she isn't losing any. Hey, stop eating snacks during a 2 hour lecture! This girl has never missed a meal in her life and has food in her hand or mouth every time I turn my head to look at someone her direction. Weight loss problem solved! I'm a fucking genius.
Rant: my last two posts in here kind of showed my mindset but I have been having a terrible time adjusting to post college life. Not sure what is the main cause but hoping it gets sorted out soon. Rant: broke up with a girl at the end of school for stupid reasons and now think about her way mor than is healthy. I sound like a pussy but even talking to her for ten or fifteen minutes makes things a lot better, problem is that doesn't help me get over her. I've always been very self-reliant and have really been leaning on my friends a lot lately. Rave: having friends who will put up with my shit right now until I start acting like a normal person again. Rave: I'm actually in a buch better state than I was about a month ago, which counts for something.
Rave: Starting with Aug. 17, I will be attending a fight every weekend until Nov. 10th. Up until this stretch, I had only been to six fights all year. By Nov. 10 it will be about 20, that has me juiced. Andre Ward fight was awesome on Saturday, he got his first stoppage win in forever. I picked up a gig writing for a small regional triweekly newspaper, they had me give them coverage on the Ward-Dawson card both before and after. They liked what they saw enough to see if I was interested in doing a regular, possibly weekly, boxing column. I told them no better time than now as I will be on the road a lot going to a lot of different fights. On Wednesday morning, I hit up Vegas for an ESPN card on Thursday and the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Sergio Martinez pay-per-view card. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time and will be in Vegas an extended amount of time, 9/12 to 9/18 as I'm going to be checking out some gyms and sitting down with a few boxing people throughout my stay. If interested, here was my preview to Ward-Dawson as it appeared online on Sept. 6: <a class="postlink" href="http://martineznewsgazette.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9539%3Aoaklands-ward-looking-for-historic-win-saturday&catid=189%3Anational&Itemid=92#.UEjyELJlTLp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://martineznewsgazette.com/index.ph ... EjyELJlTLp</a> It appeared in their print paper that same day. This coming morning, my recap on the card will be featured in the same way. Rant: Nice to finally be making a living doing what I love.
RANT: Fuckin' gas prices!!! This morning $1.24 p/l (that's $4.69 p/g for you US folks). It has now jumped to $1.38 p/l ($5.23 p/g) two hours later. Rave: I wisely filled up my gas-sucker at $1.24 but I still feel raped. Looking at eBikes tonight.
Rave: The last project I completed will be featured in a couple of newspaper articles. It'll just be in rural Kansas papers so it's not a huge deal, but exciting for me nonetheless. I'm still in the "Holy shit it's actually gonna be in a newspaper" stage. Rant/Rave: Plans for bear hunting this weekend got scrapped, which FUCKING BLOWS because I was really looking forward to it. But... now I can shoot in a match this weekend and squeeze in one more for the year. Rant/Rave: My job can still suck the life out of me some days but I'm getting better at coping when it's tough. Now I may just spend a couple of days feeling down (if I am) versus an entire week. It seems there's good stuff on the horizon though so hopefully pushing through the shit will be worth it. Rave: 15 days 'til the Boundary Waters trip. 15 days...
Rave!!!! For the first time in nearly 30 years, I can see without the need for corrective lenses. Mother fucking lasers!
Rant: Fuck Hawaiian Electric. $450 for a month? Where the fuck did that come from? $220 was last month's bill, which we paid, and that rate was higher than pretty much any other place in the country. Oh, and conveniently their customer service line is down when we call.
In case anyone wants to laugh at my misery. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/hawaiian-electric-honolulu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.yelp.com/biz/hawaiian-electric-honolulu</a>
Rave: I've been feeling like shit physically for the past few months, most notably tremendous pain in my right hip (standing for more than a few minutes was impossible, walking was excruciating) and what I thought was the onset of arthritis in my right wrist and hand. Monday, we started a juice fast, and ended it the same day. By dinner time, we had to have some solid food, so we made a salad. Yesterday, we continued with making our own juices, but added whole fruits and veggies into our diet. What is amazing is that my hip started feeling better as early as yesterday morning and today, it feels even better and my hand and wrist? Pain and stiffness completely gone! Fresh, whole foods and no processed foods, water and iced green tea (and coffee--I'm not giving up my morning java). Juicing is great, but just juice wasn't enough. But it's a great way to get a lot of nutrients. Kale, carrots and oranges pack a lot of antioxidants and vitamins in a glass and tastes a lot better than it looks. This morning I juiced fresh apricots with some ginger root that was delicious.
Rant: Woke up last night and saw a massive spider a couple inches away from my face on the nightstand. I bolted upright in bed, scaring the shit out of my fiance. As I strained in our dimly-lit room to see where to spider was, it dawned on me that if I couldn't see the fucking thing then, there was now way I could've seen it when I woke up and rolled over. Gotta love those dreams that blend into reality for the first few seconds.
Rant: getting stuck behind a dump truck on the highway to my appointment and getting stuck behind a Knight Waste truck on the way back. PS: windows are always rolled down because the AC is broken...
Rant: Metal shard to the eyeball while wearing safety glasses. Rave: Only about half of it made it through my contact lense, my right eye looks like i smoked pot for about a week straight with no sleep but should be cleared up in a few days with antibiotics.
As stressed and tired and overburdened with things I need to do... damn it's great to come home and have my cat curl up on my lap to nap.
Rant I'm happy as hell to be back in school and all, but fuck I hate trying to motivate myself to keep up with assignments and reading. Need to stay focused. Rave made a new buddy at school... he's about 7 years younger but what can ya do? Rave nice paycheck from working at the base all last month. Rant this god damn Airman Leadership course test. I re take it last Saturday feeling more confident than last time, and I do worse than before. Done
