RAVE: A friend of mine who is a musician here in Vancouver got a voucher or something for a free facebook ad for his music page. This resulted in about 100 new likes in 24 hours... one of them being from Taylor Swift.

I mean, say what you will about Taylor Swift - I'm not exactly a huge fan myself - but still! Damn!

Rant: All that prep yesterday and this morning, and I still had to do 3 enemas prior to the procedure. Glad that's over with.

    Rave: So are we all

Rave: I've been working at home for the past 4 days and this is the way it'll work pretty much as long as I keep this job.

Rant: I'm seeing advantages to actually being in the office. I have to forcibly tell myself to leave the house. I know First World Problem

R?: A current client offered me a position with his expanding company. There is a non compete clause in my contract that will be null and void in a couple of months and the opportunity might be too good to pass up. I truly don't know what to do. He and my Managing Director are part of the old boys club together and he assures me that he can make him see the reasoning of me migrating to work for him full time yet still remotely. I guess we'll see.

    Dear wife's boss:

I'm sorry Mrs. L4L had to take one of her 28 vacation days today. I tried to book my procedure for a Saturday, but the scheduling person just laughed. I took that as a no. Perhaps if you weren't such a condescending asshole and hadn't alienated other department heads, you wouldn't have to rely so much on her to get the vital information you need in a timely manner to do your job, nor call her every 20 minutes because the regional VPs won't take your calls.

Thanks for killing our plans for Afternoon Delight.

Rant: I had to run up to the World Dairy Expo in Madison Wisconsin Tuesday to glad hand some of my vendors (that went well). The rant is that I hit Chicago at the wrong time, I clearly did not leave early enough. Stuck in traffic from the skyway all the way to O'hare. I don't know how people don't go crazy with that kind of traffic... I feel like I lost what ever good or decent part of my soul was left.

Rave: I set a new (for me) land speed record on the way back. Sun Prairie Wisconsin to a little South East of South Bend in four hours and fifteen minutes.

Rant: I have been tired this whole week. I wake up, I do some stuff, and am ready for bed again. My whole day is fighting sleep, which is hard when I have so many exams coming up. I am not sick, no fever, just a constant slight headache. If this lasts any longer, I will have to actually see a doctor for a problem for the first time in 6 years.

Rave: saw a pretty bad ass meteor tonight.

Rant: What the fuck is going on with Nightwish?!?! I mean firing Tarja was a collossal mistake and replacing her with Anette Olzen was headscratcher of the year, but they figured out how best to write music for her vocal style with their latest album and now she's gone too. At least they've got Floor Jansen to finish their tour. Who knows, maybe this will pave the way for Tarja's return...

Rant: In the doghouse. Which is much like being in my house, but with someone mad at me. I'm not even sure if she's just hungry and is just fucking with me (she doesn't eat often enough), but I certainly know I'm in trouble.

Rant: Due to my job, my friends now come to me with questions about birth control and pregnancy and what not. This past month, I've been counseling a friend of mine through being freaked out by a missed period (not pregnancy) to being worried about her next period because she had unprotected sex and I told her it happened during her most fertile part of her cycle. She took a pregnancy test on Wednesday and I'm home for the weekend and saw her last night. I didn't know how to bring up asking until she said something that was a hint only I would pick up on and we did that girl thing where I went "oh does that mean?" and she gave me a look and then announced to everyone that she's pregnant.

This is my first close friend who's pregnant and even though they haven't fully decided on what to do it seems like they're thinking of keeping it and that would be the worst. She just opened up a restaurant with her sister this summer and it's doing really well - Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz come in every Saturday, for example. The idea of her risking that to have a kid is upsetting to me. I just never thought of her ad the type of girl who would give up for a kid. I just don't see her being happy with that life. I think having it would be a huge mistake, but I'm not going to be the friend cheer leading for an abortion. This actually isn't the first tome with her. I'm going to try to be neutral and wait and see. It frustrates me - she's smarter than this.

And on a totally selfish note: I don't want to lose one of my best friends to a baby. It's too early. I don't care for babies. This would fucking blow.

Rant: I love all my sisters, but that specific one is a serious bitch. She is ALWAYS pms'ing and being a fucking nightmare. She did it the last time I saw her at my wedding (el husband witnessed this, I am not just imagining her being this way), and does it over emails that we send as a group every day. I want nothing more than to slap the wax outta her ears.

Oh and by the way, her first kid is a nightmare because she's not a great disciplinarian, not because she's just a "wild child." So fuck you, you godamn bitchy know it all.

Rave: Going to a haunted house tonight. I haven't been to one in almost a decade. It's got a reputation for being the scariest in the state, I'm excited to see if it's true.

Rave: Korean weddings. The bride apparently got to try out as many dresses as she liked with a professional photographer before the ceremony, so she has dozens of awesome photos and no wedding day pressure. We got to take pictures with the bride and groom and just hang out with the family before the ceremony. The ceremony featured swords, k-pop, confetti shot out of twin cannons and a mother-in-law that could win a Predator-look-alike contest. Then, we all filed down to a shared dining hall and had fucking awesome food and fucked off while they went to Bali. The best part, the ceremony was over in 30 minutes.

Rant: I ran for 3 miles and now my knee is giving me shit. Goddamn it, I can deadlift for two straight months with no issues, but I go for ONE 5k and now I'm fucked.

Double rant: I spent my Saturday night marching my girlfriend around 4 clinics, 3 pharmacies and 2 hospitals trying to get a UTI (which she contracted while she was away from me) fixed. Coupled with her being a whiny bitch about being in constant pain (ok, I get it), then NOT wanting to go to the ER at 9 p.m. on a Saturday, like there is a urologist or gyno just lurking around the corner, working those hours.

Rave: Got my BJJ blue belt! The test was okay, except it was all in the gi and 80% of my training is nogi. I got crushed in sparring because of it, but I still had fun.

    I'm on the right

Rant: My BJJ school has tests for belts. I'd much prefer the way most schools do it where the instructor just gives you the belt when he feels you're ready. I'm learning for myself now, for fun. Having to prepare for a test ruins the spirit of it.

Rave: I love the guys I train with and I feel much too motivated for my own good to train a lot harder for the purple belt.

    Rave: Booze!

Rant: Lack of babysitting is screwing me over. The problem is that my mom and my mother-in-law say they are more than happy to watch the kid any time we need it. Then we ask, and they say they can't. Then, we propose the solution that I quit one of my two jobs, and they say "No! Don't do that! We can watch her whenever you want!" Then they can't. Then they get confused when we are upset with them.

Look, I realize that us not being able to find babysitting is OUR problem, not theirs. However, when they keep swearing up and down that they can watch our kid whenever we need it and I really should keep my jobs, and then they turn around and say they can't watch her after all, fucking me over for said jobs, we reserve the right to be annoyed. This actual scenario happened:

Me: Hey, mother-in-law, can you watch our daughter on Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12th?

    M-I-L: Yes! Absolutely!

M-I-L (One week later): Wait, no. I can't.

Me: Oh, okay. Well, I'm calling off work.

    MIL: Don't do that!

Me: I don't have a choice. No one can watch the kid.

MIL: But I can watch her.

Me: You JUST said you can't.

MIL: Oh, yeah, not those days.

Me: THOSE ARE THE DAYS I NEED BABYSITTING!

MIL: Why are you mad at me?

Me: (head explodes) Fuck it, I am quitting one of my jobs. Not worth the bullshit.

MIL: Don't do that! I can watch her any time you need!

    Me: Ugh....

Rave: Even though I am not making much at either job, all of the money I make goes into savings, and our savings is very, very healthy at the moment. I can quit either job any time I want without a second thought. Hell, my daughter has a savings account for college with more money than my wife and I had to pay for college combined.

Rave: Buying a new car soon. Getting an SUV. Looking at the Chevy Equinox, and I am trying to talk my wife into buying new. We haven't been able to find any decent used ones, so she is leaning towards it. If I have to drive an SUV, I'd prefer to drive a new one. Any advice on decent mid sized SUVs? Don't want a huge gas guzzler.
