The first episode is great. The second very good. The third is the most polarizing thing ever. It pays lots of little homages to the Hammer horror anthology, but I didn’t want it to “go there”, as it did, in the third episode. Now it can’t go back. The final scene of the pilot is fucking WHACK. Jesus I did not see that coming.
I really enjoyed that. Holy cow, Dolly Wells is good. She went back and forth in the two accents so well.
Locke and Key on Netflix. I’m four episodes in. I haven’t read the graphic novels. I’m fully invested at this point though.
Has anybody watched Dispatches from Elsewhere on AMC? I watched the first episode and it’s...promising, but weird.
I watched the first episode. I tried starting the second one and was disappointed that it just seemed to be unnecessarily meandering, and trying too hard. In the first episode, when Eve Lindley appeared (I previously knew nothing about her) I was like, uh, that used to be a dude. It all felt interesting showing the world and letting the interactions play out between characters. But, then every time there was supposed to be intrigue or mystery in the plot or the game set up, it didn't actually seem intriguing or mysterious. I dunno. I'm still recording them, but I think I've given up.
My first thought was that is was some sort of Matrix rip off but obviously not. We watched the first episode last night and are intrigued enough to check out a few more and will go from there. I had to pause the show so I could look it up as every time she was onscreen I was trying to figure out if she was (is?) a dude.
Maybe Jason Segel just always wanted to get it on with a tranny, and he wrote a show around it so he could live it out as a fantasy.
I’m only one episode in, but ZeroZeroZero on Prime is decent. It’s a 3-way story of drug deals between the Mexicans, Italians and Americans that broker them. Good fill for the Narcos: Mexico void.
Kind of? I mean, the overall theme and story is pretty evident after the third episode. I’ll report back if there’s any meaningful plot twist.
