more obscure burt reynolds movies that i have seen a number of times: best little whorehouse in texas (i don't recall if i actually saw this in the theater, but i at least saw it when it came on hbo. i would have been 9/10 yrs old) switching channels (i didn't find out till much later that this is a remake of his girl friday. i love it, despite the fact that superman is a complete ass in it) best friends (one of those movies that in hindsight is very meh but i liked the actors, it was on hbo, i was a kid with nothing to do)
i liked the knock of psycho cop better, at least psycho cop 2, which ended with a hilariously bad parody of the rodney king beating of titular psycho cop. ive always had a weakness for the horribly bad erotic thrillers starring shannon tweed and andrew stevens. can't find night eyes 2 trailer that stars both: scorned: body chemistry 4
no mention of zardoz?? c'mon guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr4t_0x3efc i've watched the man who fell to earth about 10 times, and i still can't decide if it's good or bad. but i love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kutj5fnwfck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyev4y2nnxm
the pictures in my original post disappeared, so i wanted to reiterate that i discussed "mr. nanny" and "moonwalker".
krull. having played the video game in the arcade first, i figured, why not see the movie? it was the first movie i ever walked out on. and for its time, and the money spent, the special effects were horrendously bad. edit: apparently requires quicktime. go search krull horses on youtube.
but what about baby liam neeson? in all honesty i saw krull higher than a kite with a bunch of very drunk people and loved it (like a year ago). not sure i could have done it sober.
ftfy did somebody already post running man? that's a really bad movie, but i've still seen it several times. richard dawson was great in it, but ahhhnuld was terrible. "here is subzero, now . . . plain zero!" what a stupid line of dialogue. that's the best they could do? plain zero? also, the security panel that arnold "defeats" to get out of rock prison has the code 4-4-5-5-6-6, is in telephone dial pad order, not calculator order, but instead of # 0 *, the bottom row is 10 11 12. (it's the future!)
great thread as i have an unbelievable love of terrible films. especially when somebody was really trying. i was listening to a nerdist podcast this week and jonah really nailed why i just couldn't get into sharknado or sharknado 2 by basically saying they knowingly made a bad movie and where is the fun in that. ed wood thoughts he was doing a good job. that is what makes him interesting. anyway there have been a couple in here that i un-ironically enjoy like hudson hawk, krull and the running man. these were staples of a very young dannymac watching late 80's, early 90's premium cable programming. some others for the list: see jcvd for the first time in no retreat, no surrender and the movie that produced my senior yearbook quote, freaked
that's because they said shitty movies. undefeatable is an amazing flick. and it has what is possibly the worst (best?) fight scene of all time.
for what it's worth, tango and cash had a truly nifty prison break sequence and robert z'dar, but it seems much of its budget went into male hairstyling. it was still a favourite of mine as a kid, i also like the laid-back stallone performance, it did him well. "rambo...is a pussy." but it is a dumb buddy cop movie. i mean, the bad guys built a maze at their headquarters for the sole purpose of getting in deadly car chases with monster trucks and pick-ups that shoot stinger missiles!
road house. honestly, that movie should have its own thread. it's 80's trash perfection. a tip, kids: never, ever be too stupid to have a good time.
