And therein lies the weird assumptions/argument that makes no logical sense. It's both arrogant and remarkably dismissive towards bisexuals.

If your significant other is straight, she wouldn't be hooking up with members of the same sex. If she's not straight, there is some nonzero probability of her becoming invested in a relationship with a girl. So one way or the other, these sets of assumptions are just wrong.

Suppose there was a way to know with 100% probability that your SO could fuck another guy without becoming emotionally attached. 100%. Would you be OK with it in the same way? Probably not.

Given that the girls we're talking about are generally more heterosexual-leaning, it's certainly more likely she gets attached/leaves you for a guy than for a girl. But if you think the latter is impossible, you're fooling yourself. Have no fear, though: we all know you have the magic stick, so of course no one could ever be led away from you.

The core belief that underlies all this is the belief that messing around with girls isn't "real" sex, and that it's something more akin to using a toy.

 

I guess this assumption is the part I don't understand. If she likes girls enough to hook up with them, doesn't she like girls enough to develop feelings for them? I'm pretty predominantly straight (I checked) but I still wouldn't gamble with those dice.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with people having open/poly/whatever types of relationships, I just don't get the "girl on girl doesn't count" attitude.

And for the record, Boyfriend doesn't have jealousy issues, he isn't controlling, and he doesn't keep crazy tabs on me. We have a perfectly healthy relationship. And part of that relationship just happens to be that we aren't allowed to do sexual things with other people. We talked about it.

I think this goes back to that "collegiate" mindset and is basically implied with his references to college parties. At that time, girls making out with other girls was largely for attention, curiosity, etc... and was largely superficial. So operating under that mindset, of course its "not real" and the likelihood that your girl leaves you for that girl is as likely as the triple kiss you had the week before leading to a polyamorous relationship.

The danger, and close minded thinking, is the assumption that any subsequent bisexual leanings in an adult venue are laced with the same meaningless superficiality, devoid of emotion, and are dismissed as such. And because porn tells us its so.

Let's get back to what we're talking about. What was sister talking about? She was talking about guys finding it hot about their girls hooking up with other girls. YES I would find it hot for MY SO to hook up with another girl because I find two girls hooking up very attractive. You guys are COMPLETELY down a different path with guys hooking up with my SO. I would NOT find it attractive for my SO to hook up with another guy, I don't even watch guy-girl porn. My entire 35.27GB porn collection is lesbian porn or solo girl porn. Now I've met 10 guys, one of them being one of my very good friends, 1) Does not like lesbian porn 2) Would not let their girlfriends hook-up with other girls. They are mostly from different cities, different ages, but the one thing I know about all of them is that they aren't the most secure of men, and are super protective/possessive of their girlfriends i.e. always wanting to know where they are, not fond of them having male friends or any relationship with ex-boyfriends, and puff their chests out when other guys talk to them at the bar/club. Small sample size, but just anecdotal. Maybe it is simple the connection of 1) and 2). I don't fucking know.

Glad you caught that. That just came up because the girl just yelled at me for liking sushi. I tried it, and its not like I don't like it, its just I'll never ever think about going and getting it. The thought of "I want to eat sushi" will never pop up in my head. I'm going to add this to the list of things I'm supposed to like, but don't along with the Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Will Ferrell movies, Seinfeld, Napoleon Dynamite, and Beer.

I was just about to say, this. I haven't had this conversation in the last 5 years out in the real world. Every girl who hooked up with a girl in college didn't have some super emotional connection to said girls. I'm not dismissing, ignoring, rejecting, or ignoring any of these things. I'm noticing the use of relationships repeatedly here, my bad, I repeatedly scanned over that word. I'm not applying that word at all, I'm thinking more along the lines or being out a club in Vegas with lots of intoxicants involved.

My SO is not white, from a coast, where sushi apparently tastes better than the "shitty" sushi the midwest gets. Just because I'm black? This I won't stand for.
