Fantastic finale. Ended the season just as they should have. Illythia escapes, Asher escapes, and it appears that all the gladiators will be joining Spartacus. I can't believe Whitfield is 38 either. If a dude can be in that good of shape at that age there's no reason any lazy fatty 20-somethings out there should be complaining about how hard it is to exercise. Unlike a the Tudor's which I enjoy but only watch once I can see myself rewatching the entire season of Spartacus and enjoying the hell out of it.
Ha!!!!! That mousy, nubile little nymph stabbed that little shit like a female Anthony Perkins!! That was so good that I'm craving a cigarette after watching it. It was nice to see "The Pup" rip it up before going out with real style. Crixus' slow-stab execution of Xena was as cold as it gets. That final throat slashing was the greatest throat slashing in the history of throat slashings. Such utter and total carnage, worthy of The Wild Bunch if not better. This show gives us one more completely awesome cable program to anticipate for another year. It's so cruel that's they're usually only 6-14 epidoses long per season. It's great to see atDoctore is a surviving supporting character. My money was on Batiatus lasting longer than him. Mmmmmmm......violence.....
Well, I just finished watching the season last night on Netflix after having started it only about a week ago. I had no idea that it just ended so recently. For some reason I was thinking that this was just a miniseries and that it would only show the ludus for the first half and then the rebellion and war at the end. Absolutely one of my new favorite shows though, I was very (pleasantly) surprised about how good the story and the writing ended up being. I did hate seeing Ilithya get away at the end. I was really looking forward to that cunt getting what she deserved, along with her douche of a husband. Lets hope that we get a season 2 sooner rather than later, but to be honest I think the way season 1 ended I think they could leave it at that and it would still be one of the best shows ever.
Pretty interesting interview with the creator of Spartacus here: http://community.starz.com/t5/Spartacus-Blood-and-Sand/10-Questions-For-Steven-S-DeKnight/ba-p/33860 He talks about historical accuracy and reveals some subtle hints about season 2 among other things.
The show so far is historically accurate, but they used kitchen utensils to escape (more evident in Kubrick's movie). Crixus later commands an army of 30,000.
http://www.azcentral.com/ent/celeb/...-finishes-cancer-treatment.html#ixzz0qyJlBW1D Andy Whitfield is back in training for Season 2 of Spartacus, cancer free and ready to go. I've also read that there will be a six episode prequel featuring Lucy Lawless and John Hannah, after which it will segue directly into Season 2. Sounds good.
Best news Ive read all day. I wonder if they are still planning on making a prequel, or if there going to start filming season 2.
I'm hoping maybe for both. You don't need Lawless and Hannah in season 2 except for possible flash backs, so to get a short prequel would be sweet to fill the time until season 2 would roll out.
Spartacus Star Andy Whitfield Battles Cancer Recurrence I enjoyed this show a lot. Definitely interested to see what Starz will do now with the series, if anything at all.
At least we get "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena" sometime in 2011. If you go to site, Link, you can see a teaser trailer for it. I hope we at some point get a season 2, but with the original actor.

Fuck that, indeed. I'd rather they kill the series. In fact, it may be a good idea anyways. How many people after the last episode said "I wouldn't care if the series ended that way because it was so awesome"? Whitfield left an undeniable impression, and was so good I really can't picture anyone in the role.
After rewatching some of the first season, I really hope to see Glaber die in Season 2. Oh, and I'd like to see Illythia die...again. What a cunt.
Agreed. New guy seems pretty solid from the trailer, and I'm willing to give him a shot, but his voice is what's throwing me. Seems almost too over-the-top. Whitfield's voice was very calm and collected, even when shouting, and fit the role well. That being said. I'm going to watch this, and I'm probably going to enjoy every minute of it.
