My sister bestowed a pretty big honour on me tonight when she named me guardian of her son in her will. I'm kinda teary and emotional about the whole business, which I didn't expect from myself. Usually, in a room of cold-hearted cynics, I'm the one with the coldest heart. Not this time.
The Barnes has existed forever, the collection is just being moved in town from its former home in the burbs. I'm terrible at making "things to do" type suggestions, because the things I like to do (especially in Philly) always involve eating or drinking, or both. But here's my attempt: My favorite neighborhood in the city is generally south of the Rittenhouse area. If you're just looking to meander, go Southwest from Rittenhouse toward Fitler Square. Basically, a walk down Pine from the Schuylkill is solid. If it's nice out, you should also just go hang out in Rittenhouse square. And, uh, that's it for my non-drinking/eating suggestions. I know the cheesesteak is supposed to be the thing, but Philadelphia is such an exceptional sandwich city it'd be a shame to limit yourself during a visit. If you'd like to eat one of the best hoagies in existence, you should go to Sarcone's at 9th and Fitzwater. I can't get enough of that place. If you can hint at a type of activity you like, I might be more useful. I'd offer to show you around, but I'll be in New York next weekend, coincidentally.
My friend proposed to the most bland girl I've ever met. She also is a notch above thick and is only going to get bigger. I'm now drinking to go to their engagement party so I don't shoot myself in the face because she is just so goddamn "meh." But its a Catch 22, because I can only drink so much so I don't shout out "Hey, you're proposing to a bland bitch!" The Captain Makes it Happen!
Thank you, I'll check out the Rittenhouse area for sure. I guess I seek out the Brooklyns of all other cities whenever I go traveling. The areas I like to walk around in have the independent shops and bookstores and cafes and thrift/vintage stores and things like that. I like going to art museums, but the main museum doesn't have any exhibits I'm terribly interested in. I usually like offbeat museums too, or if there are any good exhibits everyone's liking. But definitely don't hold back on food suggestions. I'll be getting my obligatory cheesesteak, but I'd love to narrow down my options for the rest of my meals.
Well, maybe not the Bedstuy's of other cities. That description is more "The areas I can afford to live in." But you saw cooler parts of Brooklyn, no? And what was that really good one? Was it just "Cocks Restaurant" or something like that?
Yes, Cock's restaurant. Have you eaten there yet? I think it'd make for a great food article, "Full of Cock's"
I need to stop hanging around with cokehead friends.. On the one hand it's great having nights where I get drugs shoved up my nose for free but when it comes to the end of the night when its time to falling asleep? Suddenly not a fan of free drugs. Great, looks like I'm going to be staring at the ceiling for the next three hours wondering why I can't fall asleep.
I fucking love weed. And wine (and all other alcohol.) I don't love Hume...but I kind of do....but I'm sick of him right now. It's been a long day with the academicals. So fuck yeah weed time.
Fuck me, I have gotten absolutely fucking NOTHING done. I'm hoping a beer or two will help me get moving. God dammit.
NO! Dude. I posted that shit last week for my crush and that officially makes it our song, and not yours. STEP. OFF. edit: maybe two weeks ago, I forget. edit 2: By the way, we are having the most adorbs drunk text conversation of all time. She's so awesome.
