Says "A Masterpiece" in Italian. And the sky is obviously based of Van Gogh's Starry Night. Has a ton of meaning behind it but I'll save my breath unless told otherwise. Not bad price though for the great work done: $180. Two hours long and well worth it.
I'm getting my first soon, hopefully this weekend (a yellow sun wearing black sunglasses on my upper left bicep, almost my shoulder). I don't have a particular design in mind, should I try to get something sketched out before I go or just go in and tell the artist what I want and see what they come up with? Which is the better route? Sorry if this is stupid, I'm whacked out on pain meds right now.
I'm getting this (on I think my calf) in the next couple weeks. (Man, this thread was super dead and hard to find.)
I got this done a few weeks ago by the same artist as last time. It's on my ribs and was quite possibly the worst pain ever. Spoilered for size. Spoiler
Here's photos of my forearm. Got this all done about six weeks ago; session was four hours long and it goes around my forearm. We didn't finish the color on some of the parts and no color on the back of my arm as I decided that was a great time to start to pass out. Low blood sugar for the win! Spoiler for size Spoiler and
I have a Jerusalem cross on my shoulder commemorating some fallen teammates, and then a greyscale Guido Reni "St. Michael vanquishing satan" piece that is in progress on my forearm... sorry for the shitty pictures. I probably have about 4-6 hours left to sit for him to finish the wings on St. Michael, fill the rest of the sky, my daughters' names in the deadspace, and fill the "Vae Victis" on the outside of my forearm with red. So I'm thinking about getting a new tattoo-I want to get a very simple, small sun tattoo-no bigger than a quarter probably. I'm wondering how much should I be looking to spend on it. I don't want to be ripped off and it is a very simple and small tattoo I have in mind. I know it also depends on placement but just some idea of how it'll probably cost.
It really depends on where you go. A lot of shops have a minimum cost, and then add any extra time and supplies. I would go to different shops and tell them what you want and where, and ask for an estimate. Not only do you find out what you're looking at price-wise, but you can get a feel for the artists and environment as well.
We got the lining done, and I was bored, so I made an appointment for 3 weeks out to get my color done. I'm also having her put some script around the branches close to my spine. "I was wishing that the world would stop when you said we better go..."
Got this done yesterday, which is why its so shiny. Sorry for the blurry/shitty angle...hard to take a picture of the back of your arm with your phone. Its the skull of a unicorn. I'll be getting it colored in a few weeks from now. Reddish orange skull with purple in the banner and yellow glow on the background
"Ten thousand words swarm around my head" The goofy ass look on my face is due to a slight pain delirium/alcohol.
Double post but I demand that it's ok. I have a tattoo in mind. It will, in fake names, involve my mother Tracy, stepfather Mike, and grandfather Buddy. How do I go with this? I'm a big guy, 6' 3" and 260lbs. I guess I'd like in on an arm area, somewhat visible. Maybe with their career backgrounds involved, Tracy was a paper mill supervisor, Mike was a mine shaft rescuer, and Buddy was an engineer for a railroad. First tattoo.
This is kind of a cop-out response but it's what I would do. Find an artist whose work and style you really like and ask him. I'm not a creative person and I know it so I give my tattoo artist a lot of freedom to tweak and improve on my ideas. You'd be surprised what he or she will come up with, if they are a good artist the final product will be much better than you could have expected.
