This is my newest and by far most embarrassing tattoo but it's the only one I have a picture of so far. Edit: It's been really cold and dry here lately so... yeah it's a little dry and red.
Got my third tattoo today. It's on my ribs on my left side, a few inches below my armpit and a bit closer to my back than my boob. I was pretty nervous because while my other two (one on each of my shoulders on my back) were more or less painless, I've heard that the ribs is the most painful place to get a tattoo. Like, people would be fully covered and then have their ribs bare. It definitely hurt more than the other two - there was a moment where I thought I was going to throw up, and I was sweating - it wasn't as bad as I was expecting or fearing. There were only a few moments when it felt like something sharp was being dragged across my bones. I'm sure it helps that it's pretty small and very simple. This picture is so weirdly ambiguous. It looks like it could be any part of my body. But it's my side. Sorry about the gross redness. It's difficult to wait. Explanation is in the spoiler to save space: Spoiler So, this is my most sentimental tattoo. It's of this statue: which I inherited from my mom, who inherited it from her dad. He collected owl statues, and when he died everyone in his family got one. Also, a barred owl lived close to the house I grew up in, and I would always hear him hooting as I went to sleep. And my dad likes birds. So, owls have always reminded me of family and home. I also like their literary symbolism. And they're nocturnal, like me! All in all, they're my spirit animal.
I did alright til the last fifteen minutes of a 2 and a half hour sitting. Maybe 3 and a half? anyway. That last little bit of shading made me curse a bit.
Third sitting. My skin is still kind of red, so I will post another picture once it heals up a little bit to show the color off a little bit better.
In progress. Listening to his conspiracy theories. This has actually been my least painful tattoo. Finished product to come...
Done in one sitting. I was doubting how good it was going to look when I saw the outline but he did such an amazing job with the shading that it actually turned out much better than I expected. Here's the reference:
My Father's day present to myself. Took about 4 hours, one sitting. I know that the footprints theme has been done a lot, but I absolutely love this. My daughter's name is Mia, if that's not clear...
Getting a cover-up done in about a week. Covering my back from my ass to half-way up. Soooo excited. It'll be a mural of hops and blue orchids. I'll post pics once I get his sketch. He wants me to sit for six hours straight to finish it. Can't wait!
Quick question: I'm looking into getting my first tattoo and I've got the design sorted but having issues with choosing the placement on my body. Problem is that the design is perfectly circular so I need it somewhere where it wont distort too much because of the shape of my body. First choice was side of my rib cage but an artist said it would distort there. Anyone here have a circular tattoo or has seen one in a spot where it looked good? Diameter of the circle will be 4-5 inches. Thanks!
