Moral cheating? Where the other person is and would be wounded because of the betrayal? No excuse. But legal cheating (discounting states where it's illegal)? Where the relationship is dead except for the pieces of paper binding the two? Meh. I'm indifferent about that.
Hackers just dumped about 10 GB of customer's private data onto the Dark Web. Apparently military and government employees exposed as well.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they did a proof of concept recovery on a few pieces of data, and then processing the rest into something else took a bit longer, especially if they had to do any minor decryption of some data. Then they probably took some time to go through it to see if they had anything juicy. But don't kid yourself, 10GB is a LOT of personal data.
There are dumps of the data coming out in torrents. Obviously, the neck beards over on /b/ are combing through it and fucking with folks already. Edit: (Not my d/l , but this is what files are being dumped)
Well at least this will get cnn to stop talking about trump for a few days.... Ah who am I kidding. They'll probably go to him for his opinion on AM.
I simply can't fathom what kind of stupid motherfuckers use their work email address (cnn.com, .gov or .mil emails, etc.) to sign up for a site dedicated to providing cheating partners with an affair. It shouldn't even matter if you think your data is secure. This just seems like basic common sense. I also wouldn't use my work email address to sign up for porn or a mailing list discussing the merits of cocaine.
Did somebody here say that the hack was originally orchestrated by a member who's "full delete" order didn't go through? Some sort of revenge type thing? Because, I know fuck all about hacking, but you could really mess with somebody with a simple list, as opposed to The Fappening that actually had pictures. If your asshole neighbor's dog is always taking a dump in your yard or something, couldn't you just post to Facebook, "Ha ha, guys, did you see this list?" and, just list about 10 of the ones actually released and just slide your neighbor's named email into that list? The dude would have a lot of explaining to do, even if he was innocent. Does that count as libel?
Completely agree. If those CNN addresses, for instance are legit (JoeBlow at cnn dot com?), I don't even understanding using your work email for ordering something from Amazon. Who does that, especially when you work for a big corporation?
One possibility is that those were fished e-mail addresses. I know with all the e-mail correspondence I do at work I've ended up on quite a few questionable mailing lists, my spam filter catches 10-15 each and every day. Another is that maybe someone with CNN was working on a story of some sort and signed up with a fictitious account. Chances are though that the folks were just dumb asses who didn't realize e-mail addresses are free. I saw some infuriatingly stupid shit when I worked IT.
I only read this on reddit so it might not be authentic but apparently Ashley Madison doesn't actually verify email addresses so you could basically put whatever you wanted in
That was my guess as soon as I saw things like "a@cnn.com" - they were probably not verifying the account so you can just put whatever in there. Still a lot of work addresses that got leaked with this hack.
According to CNN, there are now several websites on the web that you can search the leaked database. That didn't take long. http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/19/technology/ashley-madison-search/index.html
And away we go.... Ashley Madison Hack Reportedly Turns Up First Celebrity: Josh Duggar Josh Duggar reportedly kept an account with the cheater's website Ashley Madison, which was hacked and saw a data dump last night.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA open the Seventh fucking Seal. Lord knows who could pop up on this, there are over thirty million of them. We probably all know at least one person in this list.
