Anyone else in the northeast about to get fucking buried in snow? It almost hit 60 in Boston yesterday, I think it went over in NYC. Now we are on the cusp of a blizzard.
I'm in Georgia and though it's been nice lately, the weather turned terrible today. It's a little bit cloudy and supposed to get down to 28 F tonight. I feel your pain.
I'll be in upstate NY week after next, should give them enough time to clean up. Looks like a couple days in the 60's for next week in Louisville. That feels like a win.
The lowest part of the storm is just north of us, so it's just cold and windy, but otherwise clear skies. I'm kind of bummed. We had one snow storm this year in early January, and that's been it. The weather keeps fluctuating between super cold and spring-like. Yesterday we had a high to almost 70 and right now it's in the 40s.
For the most part, ski season has been abysmal. I got new gear this year and have only been out a few times.
It was 65 and windy this morning. I sat on the futon on the backporch/sunroom with the backdoor open to drink my coffee this morning. Bliss.
I improved my waterproof hunting gear* last year and now that probably means I won't see a raindrop this year. I shouldn't complain about that though. *The mil-surp sections of Mills Fleet Farm and Sportsmans Guide have been goldmines for low cost Gore-Tex, no way am I paying Cabela's pricing for overmarketed camo patterns.
Handshakes are so 2016. I think people should now greet each other with the "leg-kick" to spice things up.
First of all, verdum is a fucking murderer. Second, after that video, people might not be so quick to shit on fighters who use a lot of leg kicks in their matches. He wasn't even trying there. Imaging if he even gave a little effort into that.
That was also an average sized skinny fat non athlete being kicked by a heavyweight. Give that leg kick to MMA pros his size and they'd still prolly be in a world of hurt. But leg kick "haters" are so dumb. I'm not even a huge MMA guy but I can easily see their usefulness and effectiveness. You're not going to KO someone, but it hurts like a bitch and fatigues you RAPIDLY, beyond it continuing to sting as you put weight and force on it. Its no surprise that strikers like McGregor and others have started to use it. Semi-related, My friend saw Yair Rodriguez at Mexican restaurant in Chicago not long ago, after the BJ Penn fight, and we were both talking about how he's "must watch" for us. Dude is flat out electric and exciting. And seems like a really good and humble dude, excited for his come up.
Its always appropriate to drink before noon, particularly when getting shitty news like that. Condolences.
Rodriguez has phenomenal technique but I want to see him fight someone in their prime. I forget who he fought before Penn but Penn looked bewildered the whole time he was in the ring. He is a very exciting fighter and he's not a cocky shit.
I'd happily choose being mauled for an entire day by a BJJ expert over a single shin to the liver by a striking expert.
