    I was just outside shoveling another blanket of snow off of the front sidewalk when I heard the kickoff at the Vikes game at TCF Bank stadium. It's only a mile and a half from my house so I can hear the crowd pretty easily.

    Tonight is the roommate Christmas exchange in my house. Yes I live with women. I'm drunk already. Life has been good since finals ended. I need to have a good night before I am poked and prodded at the clinic with fun vaccines so I don't get fun diseases in Brazil.

    Is there anything I should do in Brazil to avoid cooking my delicate gringo skin aside from plenty of sunblock?

    It's interesting to think that hot dogs are a greyish-white paste before they add the food coloring. And yet I still enjoy a DQ chili-cheese dog every now and then.

    A lot of sunscreen with zinc oxide. Where are you staying? My friends rented this beach side house for a month 2 years ago. They also had this woman come to the house each morning and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner (they would have to heat up the food.) She would also tidy up a bit and leave for the day. They said her services were around $20 a day for the 6 of them to eat.

    Yes, because nothing screams "nature" like a pneumatic hammer blow to the forehead, which is amazingly effective. Most of the time, anyway.

    When that fails, the soon to follow "death by blanching" is a comforting, all-natural failsafe.
