Well for some reason, I'm identifying with Lost in Translation a whole lot more than I was when I watched it last, four years ago. Nonetheless. Everyone has something like a 1000 yard stare. Everyone is just waiting for their lives to change in a heartbeat. Bill Murray wants to leave his wife and not have kids anymore, Scarlett Johansson is waiting to run into me at a local bar and have a long, steamy night of crazy monkey sex and dump that douchebag photographer husband of hers.

Know why Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson don't fuck in the movie? Because they're not supposed to. That's not how life works. He wants to escape his old age and fuck a nice young thing, she wants to attach to someone who's already walked down one of the roads before her and knows which one was worth walking down. But if they lived their lives in such a way that they'd do what they really want and fuck like bunnies, they'd never have been in the position where they need to escape their current lives by cheating on their spouses in the first place. Christmas night, I can't be the only one drunk here, can I be?

 

I was looking for nothing but Christmas Vacation today. But I was disappointed.

I made my husband watch UP for the first time, and he seemed to enjoy it. I don't know if he got quite the warm fuzzies the movie gave me, but he at least liked it, so I won't have to leave him for missing the message of the movie.

 

I wonder what it says about me that animated movies can bring me to tears like no other movies can.

 

Rough day for me. I woke up at 8 to drive to my aunt and uncle's house for a ton of food. Drove back to my dad's place where he had made a turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, yams, dressing, giblet gravy and 3 pies. Chocolate cream, pumpkin and apple. All from scratch. Captain Ahab is well within his right to harpoon me right now. I'm slightly annoyed that I didn't have a drop to drink (my aunt and uncle's family doesn't drink and my dad cleaned up his act when I was born).

My dad and I are going to see True Grit tomorrow. After I drop him off and go home, I'm going to have a few Fat Tires and struggle to clean up my apartment.

 

Fuck you if you only want to talk to me when sex is an option.

Whatever, I'm drunk and people can be annoying sometimes. Never have sex people, never ever have sex. Just get really good at jacking/jilling off, it's more efficient and you don't have to deal with people pretending to be your friends but shifting when they realize that it's not going to be more.

He doesn't do it often but it happens when he's had a shit day (Christmas is a bit of a challenge with his family) and I was going to get him a bottle of something for Christmas anyway. Poor planning on my behalf, not having something hidden as a back-up but what can you do.

This post just completely blew my mind, and I have no idea why, since I had to read it five times to make real sense of it. Christmas was a success. Got very drunk, ate a lot of food, opened a lot of cool shit (and gave a lot of cool shit that is going to wreak havoc on my next credit card bill), and now I'm getting ready for new years and the rose boll the next day.

Oh, and tomorrow I get my annual work review/raise. That'll be nice.

 

The snow finally made it. And my dog loves it. She and I just spend 45 minutes playing in it.
