I went to one of his live Q&As, when he was in Indianapolis. Talk about getting your money's worth. Dude was on stage til about 2 am telling stories. For a guy who is famous for playing a character who doesn't talk, he is one talkative fellow.

The only movie of his I don't own is Jersey Girl (I don't count Cop Out), and it isn't that I didn't like the movie, I just didn't like it enough to buy it. I'll probably save Clerks 2 for last, though, as somehow that has become my favorite View-Askew flick.

I am a big enough nerd that my 10th Anniversary copy of the first Clerks is signed by Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and Marilyn Ghigliotti (Brian O'Halloran was taking a break when we got to the front of the autograph line). The line certainly didn't look 9 and a half hours long when we got in it, but those guys hung out through the whole thing. It probably would have gone faster if they hadn't been just constantly bullshitting with everybody in line and if Kevin wasn't standing up every 2 seconds to change the song playing on his then-new iPod & dock setup.

I would love to go to one of his Q&As. --Did you guys know Tracy Morgan was in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?! News to me!-- I bought Cop Out on Black Friday since I was there to buy a tv anyway. I haven't managed to watch it yet. I've heard that is sucked, and I know he just directed it, but I actually liked Jersey Girl so there's a chance I'll like it.

I always liked the observation that Silent Bob started out with one line in Clerks and by the time they made it to the end of the View Askewniverse he wasn't all that silent.

I don't mean to pull a Primer here and post 3 or 4 times in a row, but is anybody awake out there?! I'm bored. Other than watching Jay and Bob riding a bicycle ET style with Suzanne the chimp, I've got nothing to entertain me.

Cop Out was okay for what it was. He was trying to make an 80s buddy-cop flick, and if you watch it as a mindless entertainment 80s buddy cop flick, it works. Tracy Morgan is pretty much Tracy Morgan throughout, and Bruce Willis has enough comedic timing to make it work. Not his best movie, but to be honest, I think his reasons for making it were suspect.

I think he was really, really hoping Zack and Miri would be his huge breakout, so he wouldn't just be the "Clerks" guy anymore. He was hoping to ride that Seth Rogan wave into the 50 to 60 million box-office area where he could say he opened a flick at number 1. Unfortunately, Zack and Miri did about what every other Kevin Smith movie does, and this shattered him. He did Cop Out because he knew that having a movie starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan was guaranteed to get him the box office return he so deeply wanted with Zack and Miri, but never got.

Right after Zack and Miri is when he really, really started to get into smoking weed, too. You can really hear his transformation if you listened to his podcasts. He is super-into making movies pre-Zack and Miri, and talks about how great production goes, and after the movie comes out and doesn't do well, you can hear in his podcasts how he sounds almost defeated at the idea that he'll never write a movie that wins it's opening weekend. He REALLY starts hitting the weed, and makes a lot of excuses for why Zack and Miri didn't do as well as he thought it should.

In his defense, the marketing for the flick did suck.

A lot of that came from his title, though. He insisted on calling it Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Everyone I know shortened it to Zack and Miri, anywhere I saw it online it was shortened to Zack and Miri, and if he were less stubborn, he should have released posters that just said "Zack and Miri," and dropped the "Make a Porno" part, so that the movie could be advertised more widely. But, he didn't, and the movie didn't do well.

Seriously, though, some of the most interesting SModcasts that he did were right before, during, and after he was making Zack and Miri. You can really hear his transformation as a person from the disappointment of that flick not doing as well as he had hoped.

I am kind of excited about his new movie, Red State, though. Sounds like it'll be a complete departure for him, and something that might be interesting to check out.

Now, though, when you listen to SModcast and his other podcasts (he has tons), you can tell he doesn't seem that into the idea of making movies anymore. It sounds like he wants to sell Red State (which is finished), make his Hockey Movie "Hit Somebody," then stop making movies altogether and focus on his podcasts and his live shows.

Honestly, though, he does so many podcasts, has his own podcast theater, does two shows a week at a 200-seat comedy club in LA, and tours regularly with his podcasts and Q&As, that I really don't think he needs to make movies anymore. He has found a way to make bank off of podcasting.

I listen to his podcast sporadically. I have a bunch of them backed up on my iPod that I need to listen to. I do follow him on twitter though and I"m excited fo r Red State.

I still remember the first time I saw Clerks. A freind lent it to me when I was maybe a sophomore in high school, I had to suffer through the fact that it was in black and white (first world problem?) but once I looked past that I abso-fucking-lutely loved it. I watched it at least a few more tiems before I gave it back. Actually I need to send that friend a text, I haven't talked to him in forever and he's the one who introduced me to Kevin Smith...actually, I'm pretty sure he introduced me to Nirvana too. I do need to send that kid a text (he's 3 years older than me, but I can call him kid right?)

I'm still up waiting for the security gate to open, watching birds hop around. Exciting, this place is. Can't altogether sleep. Hm. Wonder where the nearest Horton's is.

I guess I shouldn't have drank that Four Loko tonight. I'm wide the fuck awake with nothing to do. I'd start my Kevin Smith marathon as soon as Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is over on Comedy Central, but then I'll never get to sleep.

I'm also a new owner of the complete series of Lost, but I can't watch it because my mom and dad might call it my Christmas present. If they don't I'm going to be pissed the fuck off because I got it last Wednesday and haven't opened it yet.

By the way, I can't talk about Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back without mentioning the quote "Fuck Jay and Silent Bob, fuck them in their stupid asses."

After midnight?! I'ts 2:36 here (approximately, who knows what time it'll be by the time I'm done typing this.)

My arms are going numb. Maybe I shoudl have poured this stupid Four Loko down the drain when I considered ti earlier. Either way, I'm wide awake. I've been up since 4:15 Friday morning (12/10) so it would be wonderful to be asleep right now. No such luck though...oh well. So it' sup to all 4 of you that are online (that's an estimate, I'm not going back to look) to entertain me.

I'm a midwesterner, not that that's a good thing. I only drank one, and a few beers, and some of that alchohol infused whipped cream stratight out of the can. I'm still probably drunker than I should be for what I drank, oh well, so it goes.----I just have to point out that when I started typing without looking at the moniter or keyboard i've actually been fucking up less. I'm gonna stick to that.

See, a guy at work tried to make the alcohholic whipped cream into a dirty thing, but if I used it in that way how in the fuck woul dI consume it? I sure as hell didn't buy it for someone else to consuem. It's mine, and I shall eat/drink/what the fuck ever you do with that stuff myself. Probably in hot chocolate spiked with Bailey's and/or straight from the can. I'm classy like that.

Not completely sober, but not drunk either. A few double bourbon and sodas always make the stress go away. The hot ass daughter of some potential members came in tonight in a sparkly cocktail dress looking fine as shit, and flirting.

If I'm not careful, this could get really bad. Or good.
