I've read, here and there, that women have a subcutaneous layer of fat designed to help them tolerate the cold better than men, who lack it.

I love that the very next poster after this has frysquint.jpg as their avatar.

Makes sense to me. I think I must have poor circulation or something - my fingers and toes are always fucking cold. I usually set my thermostat at about 75 and wander around the room in my boxers. But I'll take my lower body fat percentage anyways, thank you very much.

I've got something between Mos Def and the Pharcyde stuck in my head right now.

Check out the verse at 3:05, that shit is amazing. Why doesn't anyone rap like that anymore?

Love that bass. Gets real sweet around 3:30.

Got back in town last night after being with my family for the past week. My grandfather passed away on Sunday and we had the funeral yesterday. After taking my final tonight, I am getting hammered.

    Seriously, fuck December.

Monica Bellucci helps ease the pain though

I was thinking the same thing, are you chicks hanging out with 130 pound men that grew up in Florida or something? I honestly can't think of a single time I've been in a room where men were bitching about the cold and women weren't bitching at least twice as much.

Are all the women you hang out with size twelve or something?

Well, the holidays are officially here. Oh, and what's that? They brought family drama with them. How thoughtful.

My little sister has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas day. It sucks but it's part of having a job sometimes. My mother doesn't see it this way. Apparently she called up my sister last night and bitched her out, told her she needed to quit that fucking job, that the manager has it out for her (even though everybody there has to work on Christmas), and capped it off by telling her that she's ruining Christmas. She told mom that she'd be happy to quit her job if mom would pay all her bills and that if she was going to act like that she wouldn't come back and visit anymore.

The dumbest part is that my sister works Christmas afternoon/evening. We celebrate on Christmas morning, other than the fact that she won't get to stay and visit as long as usual it won't disrupt anything.

That's my mother, blowing every little thing way out of proportion.

I really wish I didn't have to work this afternoon. Day drinking seems appropriate today.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm at work now, but I'm the only one in the office until Tuesday... hmmmmmm

Edit: Plus there's a liquor store and two bars within walking distance, it's almost like they're making me do it.

Ask yourself: what would Frank do?

As for me, I drove in and opened the place today. A solid half inch to inch of ice covering everything so I am fucking bored. Nobody is working today.

Hey Ski bums, anyone have any experience riding Prior skis; specifically the Doughboy or Original? I was recommended them by a buddy from work and they look like a pretty gnarly ride.

I've never tried them, but they look like pretty typical fat skis. What type of skiing would you be doing? These type of skis are used more often for deep powder skiing, and usually backcountry skiing because they are lighter. If you'll mostly be riding groomed trails you might want to try a ski that is built to absorb some of the chatter (shaking when you make a turn). It also looks like you would have to buy bindings (and boots if you don't have them), which could bump up the price to about $1500-$2000. For comparision I just got boots and these for about $1200.

Yeah, deep powder/back country. I'm moving out to Vancouver in the next couple of months and want something with a little more beef too them. I've been told to check out the G3s, 4frnt and Armada skis as well. I've got boots already but need to look into bindings as well.

What to do. What to do....

While I was working last night, I had no scheduled exams to do, so I went to a bar/restaurant with 2 of my friends until my shift ended. They were already there and I joined them. We were sitting at the outside tables. Within about 5 minutes of me showing up, this really cute girl came out from inside and just sat down and started talking to us.(mostly me)

She sat with us for a good 25 minutes and then went back inside to sit with her friends again. Before she went back in, she gave me her number. I asked if she wanted to have dinner this weekend. She told me she was going to New Orleans this weekend but she definitely wants to get together when she gets back.

My issue is this: I've never been in this situation before where the girl came to me and clearly showed interest. I am terrible with these things. I don't even know when to call her. If I should throw her a text. If I should wait to contact her until she gets back in town.

I know we have another thread on this, but I didn't want to hijack it. Plus, I'm having the opposite issue.

Well, the answer to that happened to be "don't be a fucking idiot, use this time to study and get some work done so you can take off early tomorrow."

    Stupid know it all.

Local theater is showing Christmas Vacation tonight. It's a really nice place, originally built in the late 20's, renovated in the 90's. Even has a bar. Taking a chick from work. I plan to get very, very drunk and then with a little luck, shit all over where I eat.

    Cross your fingers.

Uh, give her a call on Friday, tell her that you're taking her to dinner on Monday night and wish her a happy trip.

    PEACE OUT.

My problem is that I work 3-11 every day of the week. I really wouldn't be able to plan anything definitive until the following weekend. Fuck my schedule.

Why are you making this so hard on yourself. Call her let her know your wonky work schedule, tell her you'll work out a good night for you both once she gets back in town and then, as Primer said, wish her a good trip. So not hard. Hell, she made this easy for you, you're the one gumming it all up. Stop overthinking or you're gonna come off as being weird when you finally do have the date because of that. Quit it.
