I had a buddy in college that would mix Disarrono with milk and despite it being a definite "old man drink", and odd looking at college parties, was actually delicious. Really cold milk only though.
Like sam said, mix it with Coke or Pepsi. It tastes like cherry coke. I would know because that's what I got so drunk on my first time being drunk, I was doing backwards somersaults in a strangers house that was hosting the party. Then I puked in my hair. I'm all class.
I can vouch for the cold milk mixer for the Amaretto. It's quite tasty. I'll leave a couple of my favorite mixes; as I am too young to have good beer taste (I still drink Keystone/Natty/Busch on occasion). My favorite vodka and tonic: Even parts Three Olives orange flavored vodka and Tonic water. Put a orange slice and lime on the bottom of the glass. Cover with ice and pour in the even parts of the Vod+Ton. Delicious...and you can eat the fruit at the end. I drink it at the beach because it is refreshing as anything I've ever had. Another beach cocktail I've enjoyed in a little too fruity for me to make consistently, goes as follows: 1 shot of white rum (I used Bacardi) 1 shot of spiced rum (I used Captain Morgan) 1/3 of a banana; sliced into small chunks. 2 shots of orange juice 2 shots of pineapple juice. My girlfriend at the time really liked it...and after two you would be feeling quite nice. Sometimes I would add an extra captain shot, for a little extra bite. These are on my mind because I'm heading to the beach in a week, and just bought my 1/5 of Three Olives yesterday. I'm afraid it might not make it a week before I crack into it.
I feel like an alcoholic failure right now. I completely forgot to mention what was a staple for a while: The Italian Margarita: 1/2-1 part tequila 1-1.5 parts amaretto triple sec to taste 2 parts either sweet and sour mix, or orange juice if you prefer I preferred that shit to regular margaritas. And I was just using $8 per bottle shit amaretto. Damn tasty; I preferred it on the rocks but everyone else liked it frozen.
I've always wanted to try a Flaming Dr. Pepper but never had any amaretto on hand. 3/4 amaretto in a shot glass, top with 151 or something flammable, ignite, and drop into a 3/4 full glass of beer. Apparently it tastes just like Dr Pepper. I'm pretty sure the 151 and fire is just for show so you could try it without, but when it comes to alcohol I'm one to follow recipes to the letter.
Fuck! I can't believe I forgot this! I got hammered drinking these during my college grad party. I don't remember much about this night, but I do remember my mother watching a line of us do these and saying, "This doesn't look safe..."
I wish I had more La fin du monde, I finished my last one several hours ago If I had to drink only one brand of beer for the rest of my life, it'd be La fin du monde
Looking forward to trying out the Crystal Head Vodka I brought home from Chicago last week. Can't buy it here in Onterrible.
Ah, La Fin...this brew brings back memories. My best friend bought a pack of this on our first road trip to Canada and got absolutely shitcanned. We go out to eat and they refused to serve him anymore alcohol because of him stumblin' and bumblin'.
Found a new favorite drink last night: Sweet Tea vodka (I used Firefly) and Lemonade (I used Crystal Light...shut up, it was all I had). It was actually REALLY good. Kind of like a drunken Arnold Palmer (...John Daly??)
I'm generally not a fan of anything tea flavored, but John Daly's might be the best thing ever on a hot summer day. Quick question... I'm having a Labor Day party at my new place and want to make a big batch of some type of punch. Any recommendations?
If you don't mind being trashy about it, nothing beats The Force aka Pink Pantydroppers. There are lots of different ways to make it, but this is how my team does it: Take one of the big gatorade coolers or something like it. Pour in 30 beers, a handle of vodka, 10 of those little packs of Koolaid pink lemonade mixes, and a pound of sugar. Stir it up and throw in some ice. If you do it right, it should taste like pink lemonade that's just a little bit off. You wouldnt guess from tasting it, but it weighs in at around 10% ABV, so it packs plenty of punch. Just be careful of the hangover in the morning, as all that sugar can come back and bite you in the ass.
PSA: One of the top three hangovers of my life lasted the morning, afternoon, and evening after I helped myself to a bottle of Firefly sweet-tea vodka. All that sugar seriously ruined my shit.
I just picked up some Tanquerey Number Ten and Q-Tonic for a silver anniversary gift for my father, who happens to be a Gin and Tonic fanatic. He loves the standard blend of Tanquerey, so I'm hoping he is blown away by the premium blend, and having quality, natural tonic water cannot hurt. Anyone tried this supposedly elite combo?
Tanqueray 10 is a good gin, but I dont find it enough better than, say, Bombay Sapphire to be worth the price - when you get in that price range I can't find a compelling reason to not buy Hendricks.
Yeah, I researched both of those options, but from what I read BS has a way different taste than Tanqueray (more floral, less pine), as well as Hendrick's and since I've never seen him shy away from his trusty Tanqueray I stuck with something similar. I'm not a big gin drinker myself, yet, so this is all hearsay. Is Hendrick's good enough to be in it's own category atop the gin hierarchy? While I'm here: Q-Tonic or Stirrings Natural Tonic Water?
Hendricks IS that good. Forget the tonic water. Use seltzer water and some lime or a couple dashes of simple syrup. Cuts the sugar level down. Unless you really enjoy the taste of quinine or you're going to travel to Africa real soon. Fuck. Now I want a gin rickey.
Have many people here tried Mythos? It's a pretty big seller here in Greece, quite cheap too. I remember first trying it in Belfast and it was far too dry for my taste, however now I feel I've gotten a taste for it. Would rather drink it more than any other larger right now. There's another great Macadonian beer I had here, apparently it's called 'vergina/vergina' but that can't be the proper name and I don't want to Google that on this computer. Any ideas?
