Bob Ryan went off the other day on the radio about how its nobody's place to judge and Rose is such a special talent that he needs to be 100% confident in his knee and its abilities. Really? Why is he out there practicing then? Why hasnt he said he won't be back until next season. His big quote from this morning's shootaround, after the press was told by Bull's PR that he would not be available: "I dont feel any pressure to come back. Nobody is putting any pressure on me." If I were a Bulls fan, that would piss me off.
Nobody is putting any pressure on him to come back because it was a Derrick Rose and Team decision for him not to come back. You guys keep jizzing into the same vat of glue (think about it), but if you've payed attention and stopped taking shit at face value it is obvious. There is risk in bringing him back and going all out, which he would do. It's how he plays, it is who he is. He isn't Chris Paul who is going to sit at the top of the key and just pass the ball. We do not want another Gilbert Arenas issues where he's trying to come back, forcing it and get injured again. Then his career is over. What he is doing no has absolutely no risk, I'm fine with it. Also, what the fuck do we want him to come back for? So they can get raped by the Miami Heat? What's the point? So we win two playoff games? There is no hope to beat the Heat in a 7 game series. None. No hope. LeBron James is a machine, who has downloaded every single play design, scheme, and move there ever has been besides the sky hook. There is no hope. I can't find it on YouTube but if you watched Game 7, the Bulls, starting with Joakim Noah as he was interviewing with Rachel Nichols, he was trying to get into his sports cliches "They're a good team..." then he just starts laughing. He can't do it. He knows they're going to get raped. Thibs did the exact same thing, but with a smirk because he can't smile. Ever. Also never sits down during games. Stands the entire 48 minutes. Derrick Rose would have needed to start playing back in January for this to remotely make sense. You forget there is not only HIS ability, but there is a whole new cast of players he needs to learn with. Tossing that in in the middle of the season would fuck shit up. Bottom line is they're not saying Derrick Rose for sure is not coming back because they want to leave the window open for if LeBron James gets hit with a Boeing Jumbo Jet. Or both Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade get injured. Given the fact the Heat have been 99.99% healthy this entire season, Derrick Rose is sitting out the raping.
Publicly, because he's their guy for the next decade. Privately... who do you think leaked all of his medical records? If the Bulls management hadn't wanted him to play, they would have shut him down months ago and this would be a non-issue. Instead, they're intentionally letting this occur because they think he should be on the court. Yeah, that lazy, unaggressive Chris Paul.
It's no wonder you approve of Rose acting like a bitch since you seem to have a bitch attitude. Good lord. Let's end the season and just give the Heat the trophies now. If LeBron, Wade and Bosh come back and are all healthy next year should he sit out the next season too? You sound like a damn quitter. I might hate the way the season ended, but it's a good thing teams like the 07 Giants or NCAA teams like Northern Iowa or Weber State don't think like you.
MC, you know what I meant about the CP3 comment. During the entire regular season, he barely shot for the first 3 quarters, then went nuts in the 4th if he needed to. He just passed and created plays. He can flip a switch. Derrick Rose doesn't have that switch in terms of passing for a bit, taking it easy on the offense and just creating. Rose attacking is the the first option 85%% of the time. FreeCorps. Its not being a bitch quitter, its being the opposite of a blind die hard fan. I'm looking at the VU shot charts, reading all the play analysis, looking at the sabermetrics of the game at this point. We're not talking about magical intangibles, and what not. When Joakim Noah, who just played out of his mind, laughs at the idea of beating the Heat, ALONG WITH THE GUY THAT COACHED HIM, that means something. The Miami Heat are going to win this year easily. Not just the Bulls, but whoever comes after the Bulls. As for next year, the Heat supporting cast could be different, Wade is definitely going to fall a few points, and there are more chances for injury. This time around it was just a straight lock. Even more importantly, the Chicago supporting cast could improve making it seem more like a real competition. Right now its a joke. If this was 1 game, sure. But if the Giants and Patriots played the best of 4, the Patriots would have won that. No way a guy catches a helmet pass 4 games in a row. Don't bring 1 and done games into this, I'm talking about best of 7. Yeah anytime could beat them once, MAYBE even twice. 4 times? With 4 games in Miami? Not a fucking chance in hell.
My take isnt that Rose is scared to come back to face the Heat...he's just scared. Ryan also said on the radio last week that when he warms up, he gets as far away from other players as possible. And when he practices driving to the hoop, he's very careful about where and when he lands. For him to come back now would be a suicide move for himself and the fans. There is no point. Real question is why didnt he come back before?
Well let's stop for a minute and process this. We know all the big, major athletes (oh and normal people too, have to make sure I cover all my bases so MC doesn't snark-correct me) have their quirks, personality traits, fears. They all have their things. Now I was at the game, less than 30 yards away when Derrick Rose injured himself on that play. You can go back and see the replays. There wasn't a lot of contact, there wasn't a reason for him to be injured except for he was. Now if you saw your entire career flash before your eyes, on a play you really can't blame anything on. How is he supposed to prevent this from happening again? Not drive to the rim? That's what he does. If something you did every day, nothing special, nothing different, resulted in an injury, how would you feel about it? That takes time to get over. For the record, I hate the Miami Heat. Just great basketball is great basketball. Fuck you Gator.
It's not that I don't know what you meant. It's that I do, and you're wrong because you consistently have an inability to take your favorite player/coaches' dicks out of your mouth and think for a second. You get in these tizzies whenever their honor is besmirched where you suddenly are willing to make any and every argument within arm's reach. Saying that CP3 lurks around the three point line and doesn't penetrate and break ankles on an all-game, regular basis is like suggesting that Derrick Rose lacks ups. It makes it sound like you've never actually seen Chris Paul play. CP3 also came back from his knee injury same season. I don't think many people would have held it against Rose if he'd just declared himself done months ago. It's his health, and it's not like saying so would have required him submitting some sort of legally binding statement. He could have ended this will-he-won't-he shit in November. So could the Bulls. But he wanted to be the center of attention, and the Bulls wanted him to play.
Or who knows, maybe it is the Bulluminati orchestrating a grand scheme because of the dastardly Heat Templar.
Now you're being silly. In no way did I mean Chris Paul was lazy and just lurks around. In relation to how Derrick Rose plays, he isn't looking to score for the first 3 quarters. He penetrates and moves the defense to create opportunities for the other scorers but it is different than what Derrick Rose does with a score first mentality. Chris Paul isn't gunning for 25+ points a game like Derrick Rose does. That's what I meant. If you look at his regular season scoring by quarter, its very low, single digits, the first three quarters with high assists, then the trend reverses in the 4th quarter. Only averaging 16.9 PPG, where as Derrick Rose averaged 21.8 PPG. Different play style. AND by the way, You can go to ESPN, look at the splits and see who did spend more time on the 3 point line, even though that wasn't my actual point. I'm not fucking bashing Chris Paul! You think I am. That's the shit I'm talking about. No idea where you're projecting this shit from. I've watched more Lob City than I have regular season Chicago Bulls this year, so you can get out of here with these ridiculous ideas you're having. Also, Chris Paul's injury. Was it a non-contact ACL tear? Because if it was and he came back in the next season then we can talk. But if you're referring to his knee banging, you're talking about two different injuries you can't possibly let alone intelligently compare. "He should be back playing, this one guy I know got punched in the stomach and he was back in two minutes!" "Well this guy got shot." "YEAH BUT STILL!" That's you right there... Saying that Derrick Rose wants to be the center of attention is ridiculous. If you pay attention to anything about Derrick Rose's personality, its that he does not like attention. That is why he turned down talk show interviews after his MVP win. He appearance on ESPN were very short. He is shy. So that statement is also fucking retarded. If they didn't keep on asking him, I'm sure as hell he wouldn't be sending press releases to ESPN saying "Hey, pay attention to me. Oh right, not coming back." If you think otherwise, you know nothing MoreCowbell. What he is for a fact is competitive, he didn't want to be done for the year because he didn't to count himself out. If LeBron James broke a leg right now, Derrick Rose would suit up. No reason for him to come back otherwise. Most of the retired players turned talking heads think the same. It is absolutely ridiculous for him to be criticized because the media keeps talking about how he is handling his return. Don't be mad at me because Boston basketball is going to be dead for the next few years. You had a good run.
Arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus on a non-contact injury in February 2010, so close enough. And it's not about how good they are. It's that Chris Paul plays exactly the style that you are suggesting is a problem: a slashing, penetrating point guard who is hugely dependent on lateral quickness. And for what it's worth, Rose attempted more three point shots than CP3 ever has on a per game basis, and took a higher percentage of his shots from behind the arc in 2011-12. CP3 is taking slightly more threes this year, but it would still be a difference of ~25% to ~27%. CP3, far from being the anti-Rose here, is the best-case scenario for Rose's return. Someone who depended on many of the same qualities, and retained his step and quickness. Everyone was terrified that CP3 would lose a step and never be the same player again due to his knees, and here we are three years later. Wall also set a good precedent this year (quick drive-first PG with a non-contact knee injury, came back better than ever). Baron Davis had an ACL tear on a breakaway dunk in college and had a fine career. Crawford, Lowry, etc. Knee injuries aren't as scary as they used to be for NBA players. They're still no fun, but there are plenty of examples of successful returns. If Rose wanted to recover out of the spotlight, what was stopping him from saying "I'm probably out all year" and then only coming back if he was ready? Did adidas drag him in chains to film those commercials? What exactly required him taking this dangling approach, esxpecially since you insist that the Bulluminati long ago decided that he totally wasn't coming back? He's doing it because he didn't anticipate being as scared as he is. He had visions of returning to a roaring crowd, the triumphant returning warrior, and underestimated how hard it would be. Past Derrick Rose wrote checks that current Derrick Rose can't cash. There's nothing surprising or especially deplorable there. He has a long career to think of, and shouldn't let himself be bullied by the Bulls. But it isn't some kind of grand strategy on his or the team's part.
Give LeBron credit over D-Rose for this much: at least he actually made a Decision. There's something to be said, however, about "fans" who give up on their teams in situations like this, however dire they may seem. If Joakim Noah was aware of how doomed you believe the Bulls are this series, Mr. Parker, he'd soundly beat you about the head and shoulders until you were as ugly as he is. Giving up on a team simply because their star player is out is the very definition of a bandwagon fan. You say that Rose ought to come back only if LeBron were to go down with an injury of his own, simply because the road to the Finals would become easier? Well, then that makes you a bandwagon fan and a hypocrite. LeBron's health has no bearing on Rose's. In fact, it would be very easy to argue that coming back in such a scenario would not only make Rose seem like a coward, but it would be the biggest punk move to happen since the last time Kenyon Martin opened his mouth. But let's not dabble in wild hypotheticals... The way you tuck your tail between your legs and wish that the Bulls could simply forfeit is disgraceful. It's obvious you've never played sports at a competitive level, because true competitors don't throw in the towel like that - and certainly not the likes of Noah, Deng, et al. To be the best, as they say, you have to beat the best. Few teams embrace that mentality as much as the 2013 Bulls (save for Rose and his psyche, which apparently is made out of spider's silk). How people like you aren't able to set aside your dismay about Rose's absense and rally around the (barely) healthy players on the roster, I'll never understand. Best-case scenario: The Bulls pull off an upset, and guys like you can go back to pretending like you were a believer the whole time. Worst-case scenario: they get swept, badly, but still get quality playoff experience (particularly the young guys like Butler and Teague). You have zero ground to stand on here. None. Heat in 6.
If we're ever visited by aliens in our lifetime, I nominate Joakim Noah and Birdman Andersen to be our ambassadors on behalf of the human race. Such a visually delightful spectacle, those two.
Never said anything about Rose being better, and I sure as hell never said he was the anti-Paul. Derrick Rose did not saying he was out all year because of well...this might be something http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/ ... miami-heat Now on to this clown. Nope he wouldn't. Watch this video. Start 3:23. He tries not to laugh when Rachel asks about them playing Miami. He stifles it again when he says "we're going to do our very best and see what happens." They're going to play their hardest, but come fucking on. They have a 1/3rd of their team out there. Its not like we have a full squad. Against a fully healthy Miami Heat team. I'm not giving up on the Bulls. I just won't be disappointed if they lose. I'm expecting them to lose. I've been a Bulls fan my entire life. Don't get on that high horse bullshit. But more importantly I'm a basketball fan. I've looked at the advanced metrics, the shot patterns, the plays, all of that stuff. I type this as the Heat are executing their plan pretty well. The Bulls are slowing them down, with our main X Factor being Nate Robinson, but we live by the Nate and die by the Nate. Now if the Bulls win, you bet your ass I'm calling reverse jinx. I sat with 2 other die hard Bulls fans, and we're happy with the win over the Nets. That was our championship. We're all perfectly content with the season ending right there. Anything else is just cherries on the cake. I would love to rally around Rip, Kirk, and Deng, OH WAIT, they're all injured. I'm rallying, I'm cheering, I'm wearing my silly Bulls hat with horns right now. But, I watch basketball, I know how this is going to turn out. Your other assumptions are baseless and are very sad projections you need to work on, not I.
Congratulations on being an expert armchair quarterback. I'm sure your amazing basketball analytics are being wasted here. You ought to contact the Chicago front office. Doesn't change the fact though that
Kind of like the Heat did? My god that was a pathetically played final minute and a half. Half assed jumper and D by Bosh, rushed look by Lebron, and a pathetic 3 from Wade. Meanwhile Jimmy Fucking Butler has played 144 straight minutes. As someone who saw him lost as fuck on the court as a college sophomore. I can't be more proud of the dude.
